They did not need to reinvent network code and they did not need to figure-out how to make game look good_enough and to run on average real-world PC. With World of Warcraft they also learned that cartoonish style ages the best and looks the best even with low-res/low-poly graphics.And their engines were created by highly-educated high-paid white engineers - not by pajeet cucks or aislop. With World of Warcraft booming between 2004 through 2010+ they also had tons of infinite money and resources to invest into development.
