Do you use optipng, pngcrush, pngout, pngnq, or similar software before posting?
I've found the following does a pretty decent job of reducing file size and retaining quality:
pngout.exe /b128 /k0 /c6 /f5 /s2 /v /y $1
You typically post the same desktop setup with video and images filled with a lot of details, so JPEG is a more fitting filetype. Actually surprised it bothers you enough to comment on it.
