the crypto boom price hike wasnt that bad. early 2018 I found my 1600w platinum rated psu for 200 and msrp 1080ti without issues. retards panic bought the first search results but if you actually spent some time looking around there were always some discounts and good deals around. its was only mildly inconvenient for like 6 months.

Kids are hooked to their mobile devices.
Most people don't need high specs or even moderately specc'd laptops.
Students who need beefy laptops will get some educational discounts, the ones who matter will receive tech grants.
Desktop PC market was shrinking to begin with, this isn't a high priority segment for PC manufacturers.

I will do so. Keep in mind this PC served me well for 6 years. It's just that last days I started getting more and more random core dumps. I assumed it's Nvidia drivers again but ran memtest just to be safe and this is what I got.
The same ram I bought 6 years ago now is exactly twice as expensive. And my laptop is in repair as well. What will I even do with my time now.

>>
>>108286478
Reseat the memory sticks (firmly), they need to be in A2 and B2 slots.
When you test single sticks, it needs to be in the A2 slot.
It could be due to a degrading CPU, a regular visitor used to say the some Zen 3 CPUs can have these issues.
He isn’t a rage baiter or a brand warrior. He owned a 5800X and is a competent memory overclocker.

>>108286504
>Also can I tell which memory stick it is based on memory address?
My limited comp sci knowledge says no, but I may be wrong. You'll just have to test them one by one. Given how long the test in your pic was running, 10 minutes if I'm reading right, it shouldn't take long to find out which is the bad one. Plan to run one stick overnight. Check back within 10 or so minutes. If it's fine, just let it run to make sure. Afterwards, end it. Check the other and repeat. If the first or second suddenly show errors, you can end it immediately. Check on both at least twice just to be sure. Sometimes these memtests can be tricky.

Blackwell was looking like a skip generation, people already had 64-128GB of DDR4, why upgrade? There's always going to be something better next year has been the conventional wisdom for most people since forever. If your current system is working fine for the moment and you have other priorities in life, why waste money? Buying every discount you see whether you need it or not is mindless consumerism and wasteful spending. How could anyone have anticipated that one day out of the blue some guy most people never heard of before would create a shortage?

You're blaming people for not having a crystal ball into the future.

Everybody is looking for ways to squeeze consumers, you sometimes have to find the gaps in the hype and FOMO cycle just to FEEL like your not being extracted.

You didn't need to be a genius to understand these memory & storage chip manufactuerers were dealing with oversupply issues after the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions were lifted.
It was a historically high supply glut, where people were able to buy a 2TB 990 Pro for less than $100.

All you had to do was to check prices during major discount seasons like back to school summer sales & Black Friday during 2023 & 2024.
If people are not willing to take advantage of those historically low prices to upgrade their PCs, it's on them to deal with whatever happens afterward.

Not everyone has 64+ GB of system memory as you claim, people had time to buy 40~50 32GB DDR4 kits to upgrade.
All those AM4 PC owners had plenty of time to buy a 5800X3D or 5700X3D at all time low prices to completely skip DDR5 upgrade cycles.

These were predictable sales events, they weren't niche.
They were in fact so predictable, we had a few retards hoping for 2025 Black Friday DRAM & SSD discounts.

The 400% RAM prices doesn't degrade the PC performance of normies and everyone else who decided not to take advantage of those historically low prices.

That's it right? Everything looks and feels as though it went according to the numerous videos I watched beforehand.
The only slight differences were
a) when I was pushing the lever down the plastic cover popped out maybe 1/3 to 1/2 of of the way down. Where in videos it seems to pop out closer to when the lever is fullyh down
b) looking at the installed CPU from above the metal frame/cage doesn't seem perfectly evenly squared with the CPU, there is maybe 1mm more space on the left side than the right
These 2 things are most likely just slight variations in motherboards though?

Raise the GPU core offset slider to +200MHz if you have an RTX 50 GPU to start with.
Drag the right side of the voltage limit point, like 950mV for example.
Hit the apply button, save profile if you wish.

It's also better to change the V/F curve when the GPU is under rendering load, like having Ungine Heaven or Valley running in Windowed mode.

at the time it powered 3 r9 290s to mine ethereum. then i sold 2 290s so it's sat mostly idle for a decade. now im a little worried its going to fail closed and fry my fancy new gpu but really i would be more worried about a new psu given the shit quality of everything nowadays.
