GIMP is not ready to be a replacement for Photoshop though.
>>
I'll do it when FOSS software like Krita and GIMP stops being dogshit compared to proprietary programs.
>>
>>108294448
Adapting to GIMP takes you two weeks. It’s not difficult.
I’d even dare to say it’s better than Photoshop, the keyboard shortcuts are way more comfortable.

IIRC photoshop currently works ok under wine, but I don't have personal experience. Affinity might be better supported, if that's something your interested in trying.

The second Linus steps down, the kernel will be flooded with slop by jeets. Mark my words.
May happen even earlier, seeing as Linus vibe codes lately.
>>
it's always funny when someone says "just use this completely different program from the one you've spent a shitload time and effort getting used to" like it's something easy to do
news flash retard, workflow is a thing, you would know if you did something other than hobby shit in your computer

>Affinity might be better supported

Don't know about Photoshop, but I did try to get Affinity working in Wine and the lower half of the canvas wouldn't render at all, it was completely black which made it unusable.

I'm hoping for Canva to natively port Affinity to Linux which they're reportedly considering doing. If that happens, it will be like the beginning of a new era for Linux.

Does learning a new operating system take time?
Of course, like anything you have no previous knowledge of.

The average /g/ anon seems addicted to TikTok and is apparently incapable of learning anything that would replace what they already use. They’ve got a Microslop™ chipset hardwired into their brain that prevents them from adapting to new circumstances, you know, that completely natural human ability.
>>
>>108294555
Learning a new system because you want to or for whatever ideological bullshit you believe it is a completely different thing from learning how to adapt to a completely different workspace for something you do for a living.
That's why almost no professional artists, video editors or music producers use Linux and only tinkertrannies like developers love it.

Why do you guys always assume that 100% of the people in the world are all of the above?
At least two of those jobs don’t even pay enough to eat.

>>108294448
There 100% are replacements for everything Windows offers except for invasive anti-cheat and I'm tired of people who can't learn or adapt saying that it's not true.

I play gacha games there. It's fine for short sessions if you don't want to pay.

I've had no issues getting the gachaslop working on arch anon. Takes tinkering sure, but it's a small price to pay for being free from the uncertainty, low-quality, and lack of control you get with windows. My computer is mine.

No the fuck there aren't. There are similar tools, but they are not nearly as functional or robust as some professional programs. GIMP is a great photo editing software, but it is no where near as powerful as Photoshop. You can learn to use it and adapt your workflow, but it is not a 1-1 replacement. Especially in professional work.

I hate Adobe, Autodesk and Microslop as much as the next /g/utist. I wish FOSS was good enough that I could switch off of Windows, but it simply isn't there yet.

>Learning a new system because you want to or for whatever ideological bullshit you believe it is a completely different thing from learning how to adapt to a completely different workspace for something you do for a living.
You're going to have to learn a new workspace due to declining proprietary software ecosystems anyway. You can't fully trust a system that thinks indefinitely deferred maintenance for more money is a good thing.
>That's why almost no professional artists, video editors or music producers use Linux and only tinkertrannies like developers love it.
They're typically educated in one workflow and software during education and nothing else, it's how these student license schemes work.
>Cheap or free to use in education, so typically used in cheap education
>Cheaper to pay the license cost than hire someone who can actually adapt
>License cost adapted to enterprise hiring and industry standard type behavior
>Massive pain in the ass to work with if you're not in the same ecosystem that shits out proprietary file formats, so it would cause friction if you don't also use that ecosystem
It's all tailored to creating a monoculture of slop.
>>108294773
I just use a VM for it and occasionally light a candle and pray for FreeCAD to become good enough to use for everything, but I use Linux for everything else.

It's worth it because the completely different program is just so much better and also because of idealistic reasons (which the average utilitarian normalcattle like you fail to comprehend) like having the freedom to do whatever you want with the computation you pay the electricity for or like not being spied all the time by kikes.
