What do you think about Reddit?
I think you should fuck off back there faggot
>>108730642They're starting to notice and come around to noticing what's happening, but the site is still unusable due to the model under which it is moderated.
>>108730642I only visit that website because of r/gonewildaudio
>>108730642You can't even browse it without an app anymore
>>108730642I hate how modern search engines and LLMs use it as "the single universal source of truth", while the shit you find there is at best acceptable and at worst retarded.
>>108730642It used to be a good place to discuss niche topics, but the 2018 redesign brought in a new kind of user that turned the whole place into a hyper-political echo chamber. Also, the admins started censoring a lot of content before the IPO, and now, Reddit has become unbearable. Besides, I blame it, along with Discord, for the death of forums.
>>108731428>issue only exists for phonepostersNot my problem.
Unironically only garbage there.I keep coming back though and I don't know why.I guess because it's the only "social" website outside of 4chan and youtube that is not completely unusable for users without an account (try browsing tiktok or instagram or xitter without an account)
I made so much fucking money in 2016 from reddit, but then it went to shit
>>108731765is selling your butthole to dudes on reddit really that profitable?
Used to have a handful of subreddits that I was subscribed to, and I'd use RIF to go through them when I was bored. Mostly 40K subreddits I think. Then I went to the front page and saw a post reach the front page from fucking /r/india or some shit. Luckily RIF allows you to block subreddits, so I blocked it. Not even reached the next page and /r/india_memes is in there. What the fuck? block that one too. I keep scrolling and blocking, and before I know it I've blocked like 40 indian related subreddits. Made me realize how many indians must've been on the subreddits I frequent. Deleted RIF, not using reddit any longer. 4chan has to be like 30% indian as well by now.The chinese must be so happy with their fucking great firewall man.
>>108731788I was selling logo design service, then every jeet started doing that
>>108731752>xitterI use xcancel when I need to see a post. It works well enough.
It's pretty good. Looking forward to seeing everyone else on /pcmasterrace/, /steam/, /steamdeck/, and /valve/ subreddits!
>>108731601So what’s the QRD on Reddit requiring a $2,000+ PC to use it? Are we so back fellow based gigachads? Has 4chan finally been mogged?Sent from my iPhone
>>108731491This is why the mobile ban is so baffling, Google is basically a reddit search engine and every alternative like DuckDuckGo is filled with AI SEO slop. Is this Digg 2.0?
>>108730642Fuck Reddit, fuck!!! I post questions asking for a recommendation on Reddit all the time, and every fucking time, a few responses arrive, nobody upvotes, and then someone downvotes my post once, and Reddit stops recommending the post to everyone and the post dies. I don't even know why the fuck do they downvote my posts.
>>108730642I used it for 2 weeks when 4chan was down. I got many updogs as long as I was completely gay and inoffensive. But as soon as I stepped out of line and voiced my real opinion of things I got downdogged to hell.
>>10873064275% of reddit is Chinese and Russian bots20% of reddit are soys who fall for the astroturfing5% of reddit is actually useable
>>108731428old.reddit.com has long been the only way to use the site anyway
>>108731491I suspect a major overlap with Wikipedia, another universal source of truth. The Grauniad is also suspiciously highly ranked in references. No wonder LLMs are hallucinating.I wonder how Elon's project training an LLM on 4ch is progressing.
chinners like to hate on it but what other website is left? Is there a single relevant website with human discussion? Yeah I know leddit is botted but it's literally the only place left, besides dying forums and image boards. Youtube, ig, tt comments are ropefuel
>>108731601You've got bigger problems if you unironically browse reddit on a computer.
>>108733713>Is there a single relevant website with human discussion?Everybody just moved to discord and shit like that so they wouldn't get stalked by every retard on the internet.
>>108733715>filthy phoneposter tries turning the card around
>>108731072Are you me? That's the only place I go to on that site.
Their catch phrase>We did it, Reddit!is from when they misidentified some random dude as the Boston Bomber. So I think it's a pretty retarded website.
>>108733725discord is fucking trash, it's always 5 users posting 80% of all chats. spamming main chat, saying the most inane shit about liking cereals or stubbing their toe right when others are having an interesting discussion FUCK THOSE FAGGOTS
>>108733785Okay.
>>108730642faggotry aside it was the site that pioneered total deplatforming. without r*ddit demonstrating their rather large user base are generally absolute cuck who will grumble a little bit and then happily suck cock and eat cum to keep their internet points. others wouldn't be as bold if not for the r*ddit experimentand yes, too big to fail is a thing. there will never be a digg2.0 moment, despite many many potential candidates over the years
>>108730642I don't.
>>108731788There is a whole subreddit just for second hand sex toys.
>>108730642It's weird. Yeah, I'll take some flack but I used to post there regularly. I missed old school forums, never really got into this place, didn't know any better so I'd post there. Started out not caring about up votes or down votes or any of that crap, just saw it as a place to gather information. But that's the thing. It's a brainwashing mechanism of sorts. You need upvotes to post anywhere outside the bigger subs. To get upvotes you gotta regurgitate the popular opinions around there. And once you're getting the upvotes, it becomes trivially easy to know how to play all the suckers around there to give you more of them. It becomes addicting. And yeah. It took me down some left wing paths I'm still trying to deprogram myself out of. I became fucking insufferable. Afraid to post shit that would get me downvoted or banned so I shut up about that stuff. Always dancing around controversial takes, trying to word shit just right so it wouldn't offend anyone.I like it here better. No algorithms. No upvotes. No usernames. You can say shit and at worst someone's going to call you names. End of the day no one gives a shit.
modern detective work really has degraded to datamining numberplates, ISMIS and social media, huh
>>108733726Who are you quoting?
The problem with reddit, and normienet in general, is two fold. There's the insanely pedantic armchair experts who gives answers with very little depth because of very little actual experience and then the diehard line toers who will never ever ever ever say anything other than the current corporate political social narrative while somehow managing to be smug.
>>108731428if you make a throwaway account (it accepts 10 minute mail emails) it lets you browse it like usualt made an account like two years ago and haven't posted a single time yet
>>108730642I like r/fuckyourheadlightsOther than that, I use it if I want to see discussions about whatever between people. Don't ever use it for politics though unless you want to see the mindset of the left.
>>108730642i hear he's the most quoted by chatgpt, so i don't really give a fuck because i don't use it
>>108734167You can just say trolls.
>>108733992>You need upvotes to post anywhere outside the bigger subs. To get upvotes you gotta regurgitate the popular opinions around there. My favorite reddit troll's first post is just a picture of a cat with a few thousand upvotes. He then immediately gets to work.
>>108730642It used to be just another channel for discussion for a wide variety of topics--some of them morally questionable, but still permitted--but then slowly became appropriated by deranged, politically correct types who moderated themselves and everyone else into becoming inoffensive sycophants. That's been the status quo for years now, even before 2020. It's only gotten more and more shit since then. My worst gripe I have with the site is how often I come across non-English posts now. If they can't be assed to learn English or at the very least make use of Google Translate, why don't they make their own forums? The answer is that they rarely ever have anything of use to provide, and are better off using pre-existing resources/infrastructure.My second biggest gripe is how often users are so confident with answers/advice that is wrong. Of course, this is not exclusive to Reddit, however you have to approach addressing their mistake with tact; you can't just call out their mistake as is, no matter how retarded they are. Either side risks getting downvoted just for the hell of it. Someone comes along in the thread, sees some poor schmuck getting mass-downvoted, and goes ahead and joins in on it. I don't give a shit about some online reputation system, but a large number of subreddits require a certain number of upvotes to participate. It's to prevent bots and alts, but it's oftentimes just another hoop you're made to jump through. Reddit would largely benefit from getting rid of the updoot system altogether, booting the fags and glowniggers in admin, and uprooting all the queer moderators. Of course, that will never happen...Also, I find it annoying how anons try too hard to distance themselves from Reddit, despite their being very little difference between the user base across all social media sites. The only difference is with their respective rules. You're all still niggercattle.
>>108730642Fucking retarded question to ask here anon
>>108734966I disagree.Sure, 4chan hates Reddit in kayfabe. But a lot of people do use both, even if they only rarely admit it, so it's nice to get honest opinions.
>>108733691>I wonder how Elon's project training an LLM on 4ch is progressing.4ch is as stupid as reddit. Any field you have some knowledge about you can tell people here are just spewing nonsense just like on reddit only in an angry hostile way.
It's decent for some stuff you find through google, but you just can't go to any actual subreddit home, you're just see an infinite scroll page of attention whores.I really don't get it. They post like it's for their friends and family on facebook, but it's really for redd*tors.
>>108735000>>108735000>But a lot of people do use both, even if they only rarely admit it, so it's nice to get honest opinions.A lot of 4channers are trannies too, but that doesn't make them any less detestable and I don't care to discuss the intricacies of them cutting their dicks off on my website.
I've proudly never made an account and only visit while doing lite research on random topics I'm interested in. It's midwit central so unless you're researching something niche like trying to find a flip phone that runs android their consensus is probably flawed by groupthink.
>>108731791>4chan has to be like 30% indian as well by now.Probably even worse than that. You can tell it's really spiked in the past couple years with shit like anti-India posts getting replies like>uhhh actually that's Pakistan not Indiaand groups, all of whom are clearly not native English speakers, taking turns calling each other ESL. Meanwhile, actually ESL posts fly under the radar because none of these people speak it well enough to recognize actual tells. I see the phrase>how do you calla lot recently and of course none of the people who are desperate to call someone ESL over a typo have anything to say about it.Anyway, we're completely fucked and it's only going to get much, much worse. India is only beginning to get widespread internet access and Africa hasn't even started yet. As bad as it is now, this is going to look like a golden age 10-20 years down the road.
>>108730642Reddit used to be like Twitter in the sense that if you just went to the popular parts it was complete cancer, but there was enough of a landscape of content and enough of an ability to customize what would get shown to you that if you put in a little effort to tailor your experience then you could have a decent time with it. But this was like 10+ years ago, and since then "don't touch the default subs" became "don't touch anything that touches the front page" which became "don't touch any sub bigger than X" and by now the cancer has almost completely engulfed the entire site, with only really small subs being worth spending any time in.That said, modern social media in general is abhorrent and very much a case of pick-your-poison. I'm here and not on Reddit because the "Reddit personality" is ubiquitous there and seriously sets my teeth on edge to the point that I'd rather spend time with you schizoids. But I can at least sympathize that other people would have other frustrations.
i don't know if something can replace it.the internet is such a small walled garden now, i really don't know what the future holds. i can't remember the last "new" site i started using. twitch, maybe? shit is fucked up. reddit is bad and the well is poisoned but the bones of the platform are good. but i can't see mass adoption ever happening. reddit choked forums to death. discord is not a replacement. now reddit is dying not because it's being replaced, but because it's being squeezed dry.
>>108731428Thats not true at all dumb ass. I only use the browser version because that's the only way I can block ads
Reddit is a place where people go to try and prove Hitler right, not with conservative arguments, but with utterly dysgenic lefty ones. If Redditors ruled the world, they'd surely cause human extinction, making Hitler the lesser evil.>>108730949They really aren't, don't be delusional, this is the maximum they'll ever get to.
