I'm an infrastructure engineer for multiple engineers who need Linux based systems to do their jobs.
When I can't provide sufficient and stable systems for their research and development needs because certain sub projects like arm-debian (for example) have been pushed out, then yes. The politics becomes my problem. The direct correlation of drop in functionality to the amount of devs and maintainers being pushed out of distros over petty politics IS my problem.

All I know is, whatever distro I need, if it had similar functionality to debian I'd be laughing.

Unfortunately backwards compatiblity with libraries is just not working right between 12.x and 13.x releases.
And the in house tools we use are stuck in the mud.

I've reached out to maintainers and even official support, but the few people I know have said anyone worth their salt has been pushed out in recent months.

It's why I'm looking for a non political distro, but the mouth breathers here can't read past the first sentence before jumping to conclusions.
I only come to /g/ because years ago there'd be some solid industry vets lurking. But I'm not confident about the quality anymore.

Science and engineer projects used to use debian as the gold standard. And other peers are unfortunately still in the phase of trying out different things.

Read this very slowly so it doesn't go over your head: a giant, decades old project with tons of corporate donations and backing is infinitely better and more reliable than a weekend project made by a single autist. So even if the project "suffers" the other projects have a long way to catch up. If it would be so easy then every corporation would just spin up their own distro. So would you. And asking for a non-political distro rules out anything with more than two people. I can guarantee you that your own company's HR department has a list of rules you would consider political as well.
