Let’s be real, DuckDuckGo has horrible results it’s inusable. I want to use it but the results are bad.

Welp, vendor-lock is bad? Also it's also super easy to parse ddg results without google's bot detection crap.

DDG gave you a link which answers your question in the top result
WTF more are you expecting?
>>
I hate that Google search is still the most competent one even. I tried giving Brave search a try and it can't ever retrieve a first-party result for a topic that Google gets on the first try.
>>
>>109068801
I just use Google now because wtf not? Do I really care that google knows the retardation I'm searching? No, not at all.
>>
>>109069091
Also this, no other search engine has a reliable reverse image search, Yandex is inferior to google reverse search
>>
>>109069048
I set Yandex as default over four years ago, and Google at a shortcut, and i ended up using the Google shortcut the majority of the time, because it had better results, at least when searching for tech related things, while Yandex threw Russian stuff at me.
Then i used Brave search as default until two years ago, and it was 50:50.
Now i am back to Yandex and it fully replaced Google for me.

DDG was never an option for me, because it's run by a jew who earned his money by scraping and selling user data and it is shilled by all the wrong institutions. I think Yandex, for Westerners, is also run by kikes who run off to Israel? But even then it's not on-the-nose evil like DDG or Google and i am not bound to them, i can always GTFO and use something else.
If it works, it works, and Yandex does for me now.
>>
>>109069124
I never saw a single person claim that the google image search, or its reverse image search, would be good in the past five years or so.
Congrats on being the first corpo shill to claim that this objectively bad thing is good.
>>
>>109069140
Genuinely, can you name a single better alternative? Yandex almost never extracts exact search results for me, especially when it's something even slightly niche
>>
>>109069129
Yandex is a failure from a privacy perspective. They will constantly block you with captchas if you disable JavaScript, making them far inferior to DuckDuckGo. They also push you to make an account, which would tie all of your searches together. You shouldn't trust them with your data.

They don't censor the same things that western search engines censor, so it's a good backup if you think that your regular search engine is censoring a particular search
>>
>>109069180
>can you name a single better alternative?
All of them. Yandex, Bing (when looking for an origin) or dedicated reverse image searches like TinEye, they are all better.
Googles image search and reverse image search is hands-down the worst of them all.
>>
>>109069195
I never had a yandex account and it works for me.
But only for about one to two years now. Before that, yandex returned too much random things. Coincidentally when Google first shilled their AI results, yandex became good.
>if you disable JavaScript
cool, but it can still track you, still knows what you search for and what links you follow. There is enough info for them to feast on. Duckduckgo, made by jewish scammers who got rich by selling user data, and promoted by the same governments who want a DigitalId, is not an option for me.
I trust Google more than them, because Google at least won't rugpull me. With DDG, you never know when they bail out, sell all the data to scammers and run off with the money. And they will do it, because they already did it in the past.
>>
>>109068801
No search engine works well anymore. I used to be able to search for torrents and niche porn and torrents of paywalled niche porn with ease on google, now it's pointless even trying. For a time DDG was the go to engine, but nowadays every result is AI generated webpages and slop and the usual handful of main sites. I don't know where to bash my head and beat my meat anymore.
>>
>>109069225
neither of those are better than google, tineye is the worst image search tool by far, Images frequently fail to return any results, in spite of many of them being highly likely to still be accessible - Stock images, art and fanart, historical photography, memes, and so on. In the few cases I've had where search results are returned, there are generally only a handful, perhaps one or two or three at most - And of these, often none are original, they're generally heavily cropped or disfigured, and are strangely likely to be from sources like Discord.
>>
>>109068801
isn't it literally just resold bing and yahoo?
>>
>>109069408
>search "pepe the frog" on google image search
>article pic of NYT and BBC
>Etsy sticker image
>Ebay sticker image
>some furry in a frog costume
...
>search "pepe the frog" on yandex image search
>a page full of pepe memes
>suggestions of variations on the top
>click the honkler
>a page full of honkler memes
For reverse image search, if you want to look for similar images, yandex is great, and tineye as well. If you want to search the origin of a pic, or with the pic, then bing. But Google is never an option here.

Did you switch off AI summaries on DuckDuckGo? That seems to be the only difference in your DDG and Google searches.
>>
>Homepage -> Hamburger menu -> Settings -> AI Features -> Search Assist -> Often
I have just seen that it's "only available in a subset of English speaking regions."
Are you not in one of those regions?
>>
Yes, it's not very good. But it's the only search engine that works in a text browser, so it's better than others in that way.
>>
I feel like I'm in some kind of twilight zone whenever I see people say duckduckgo is worth anything at all. It's terrible and heat there are people saying it's better than google.
Honestly almost all discussion about search engines feels that way.

I've come to realize most people don't really know how to search they don't use operators they don't use date ranges and then they complain.
I want to not use Google but man the others suck. Actually startpage is pretty good, still missing stuff compared to google but it's a like I guess 90% hitrate, good enough. The issue with startpage was they kept serving me a captcha on every post I even sent a message telling them to stop on my ip but they continued, so I had to stop.

For some reason,
"Spectrum Remote Programming"
Is a good example of how terrible ddg is. Search that in google/startpage vs ddg.

Bing is just unusable, I have no idea how Microsoft could just have a broken product for years. It has literally never had working boolean operators and it almost assuredly never will at this point. That said it has a different index then google, if a term is one word and also unique, then I will take advantage of that sometimes to find more results if necessary.

One of the biggest things that keep me suck on Google is the fourms tab. Best fucking thing ever especially now.
>>
>>109068801
same but google fucking blocks me entirely so what can I do

DDG and Startpage are the only usable ones

What do you anons think of Ecosia? I had to switch off of Searx because it was usually broken and DDG wouldn't give correct results. Ecosia seems ok but I'm not sure how good it is from a privacy perspective.

uhh hello this thread is about how ddg is becoming worse and worse as a search engine

I have a new example
I just tried searching ddg images for ddg and instead of images of the duck I only get images of some rapper
