what is the endgame of electronic computing?

Simply this: "PROFIT LINE MUST GO UP!"

total enslavement of mankind. the semiconductor transistor is entirely satanic technology.

I BM.

It's not what TSMC would call sub 1nm and won't perform better than TSMC's best.

IBM is actually huge in enterprise, just kill yourself already fucking idiot

IBM is huge in enterprise and is effectively a research wing of DARPA.
Moron.

Bull fucking shit, most of their revenue comes from support services.

So what? Hail satan, you indoctrinated fat fuck.

Support services to enterprise customers.

Fresh off the boat, from reddit, kid? heh I remember when I was just like you. Braindead. Lemme give you a tip so you can make it in this cyber sanctuary: never make jokes like that. You got no reputation here, you got no name, you got jackshit here. It's survival of the fittest and you ain't gonna survive long on 4chan by saying stupid jokes that your little hugbox cuntsucking reddit friends would upboat. None of that here. You don't upboat. You don't downboat. This ain't reddit, kid. This is 4chan. We have REAL intellectual discussion, something I don't think you're all that familiar with. You don't like it, you can hit the bricks on over to imgur, you daily show watching son of a bitch. I hope you don't tho. I hope you stay here and learn our ways. Things are different here, unlike any other place that the light of internet pop culture reaches. You can be anything here. Me ? heh, I'm a judge.. this place.... this place has a lot to offer... heh you'll see, kid . . . that is if you can handle it...

that doesn't explain anything, you're just vague posting
>>
>>109141425
Maybe learn the very first thing about the field isn't of making stupid posts about it then.
Photoreceptors themselves are comparatively long structures because they function on probability that a photon lands just right to hit an atom to produce a charge. You are throwing a tennis ball down a hallway with broom bristles sticking out. If you hit a bristle you produce a charge. So they make the hallway as long as possible for the best chance to hit one.

>>109141453
That sure didn't stop Q.Ant, who already have photonic products.

delightfully devilish

you cant even buy thinkpad PC... they fucked up by selling it to the chinks. Thinkpads were great when it was IBM thinkpad, after the chinking it is pure shit and each generation it is worse in something, no magnesium rollcage anymore, sometimes they dont even let you change rams, then next gen they return changable rams.

IBM should make laptops and computers.. nobody cares about some darpa research shit, nothing comes out of it for normal consumer like me
>>
>>109141494
Salty low IQ brownoid.
It literally is not a real company. They have nothing for sale, no proofs of concept, nothing.

computers weren't born in war, they just had a lot of war funding, but they also had a lot of university and AT&T funding.
A lot of the important CS stuff came from 1960s university work.

IBM is adding an abstraction layer to count their single atoms

picrel is 5nm chips but the scale is close enough that the aliasing from the atoms should be visible, but it isn't
>>
>sub 1 nm
>be actually about 100nm x 10nm

somehow cpu and all that stuff feels like 300/400 years mode advanced than everything else we have right now. it's uncanny.
>>

no youre just retarded
>>
>>109140175
IBM has always presented leading edge devices made from ALD construction. IIRC their lab showed something like a 12nm device way back in 2003.
The joke is Atom Layer Deposition (or any similar building method) can not be mass produced. The second joke is IBM's ALD lab has never produced a modern capability, modern scale processor core, just at best a relative handful of transistors instead of the football field volume of a full chip anyone would actually want.
>>
>>109140163
That is not how atoms look like LMAO

One of the current most effective means of increasing compute efficiency is decreasing the amount of waste compute humans do.

You will see this in the coming 25-50 years, subtle underpinning of reliance on technology and getting by with the bare minimum as cultural norms. But they won't be organic, they'll be incepted by thinktank-like groups whose mandate is decrease the overall % of compute spent on the 99%.

The compute will instead be used on China-like systems of mass surveillance, tracking and analysis of the data in a pre-crime like fashion at minimal cost. Which isn't even inherently evil.
As well as automation of the entire supply chain from seed to calories in your mouth. Same with manufactured goods.

The funniest part is you'll like it. Because they'll create a world with mathematically just enough novel interactions for you and your daily life that don't rely on technology. The goal is complete and total economic capture and management of a continent's (then global) resources and population at minimum cost and service to the public so that a few geniuses can be born and can continue tinkering away with progressive technologies.
>>
When did electromigration stop being a problem? Surely it would happen quickly when you're able to visibly count the silicon atoms.
>>
>>109141453
I’m sure that’s not the case or else we would not see these companies appearing and offering their products, anon. Perhaps that is outdated info.
>>
>>109141401
>it can't replace switching logic

Yet
>>
>>109143493
A physical interaction will never beat incredibly simple electromagnetism, no matter how many fly by night VC funding scams put a website together.
