I'm talking about just regular wifi at a shop or home not some top security one. And where to get that software.

A serious "send SWAT" watchlist, not "oh they posted on 4chan let's try to monitor them and goad them to commit a hate crime so we can leverage it for our own interests". And no I'm not a nigga please don't refer to me as one, nothing is more insulting.

aircrack + wifi dongle with monitor mode + hope the password is on some wordlist

Because I don't want to go around people who use the dark web or accidentally see snuff or child p@rn while looking for hacking software. And glowies are mostly alright, they keep diddlers and terrorists in line, just some are stupid and evil tier. Maybe they should only let the position be open to normal non degenerates like in the past.

You might be better off trying to hide on your own network. Look into DNS-over-HTTPS which encrypts domain names. A VPN might also work as the router will see requests to the VPN provider not the actual site.
>>
>>109210012
Would a vpn work if it's an experienced person monitoring your wifi and maybe has access to the modem? I wiped my computer fully and installed linux to get rid of a keylogger I know they put, and going to try to find if they put any physical keyloggers but am afraid of breaking my laptop doing so because don't know what to look for.
>>
>>109210027
If they have access to your device you’re pretty much screwed because they’ll be able to see anything you do when they check it.
If the person is both experienced and highly motivated to monitor you then switching networks won’t help because they’ll observe a reduction in your traffic. A VPN will mask your traffic, but then they’ll be able to see the VPN’s address and determine you’re using a VPN. In this case DNS-over-HTTPS might be best because both the router and modem will just see encrypted garbage. I bet they wouldn’t expect you to enable something like that too so it would be to your advantage.
Do you have any friends you trust? Having them do internet stuff for you and discussing it exclusively via phone is pretty much your only truly secure option.
A physical keylogger inside the device is unlikely. But again they’ll be able to tell you removed the software keylogger by the lack of traffic. If you get keylogged again come back here before you remove it and maybe we can engineer one that submits garbage data instead of nothing so it looks like they’re still getting data on you.

>>
>>109210053
No, I can bring my laptop with me everywhere and they can't physically access it. Is there any way for them to get around or disable the DNS-over-HTTPS if I were to use it? They made my friends leave me to isolate me. And I know they can hear what I talk about in person (maybe tiny cams hidden around) because they somehow knew things I talked about with family when there were no devices like computer or phone around to record it. I just have to make sure there's no physical keylogger or else I'm screwed if they can still monitor my online activity and see what I'm planning in order to escape. I have to get a completely secure connection or a connection that I just hack into and use that they aren't monitoring.

>>109210094
DNS-over-HTTPS is all on your device so they shouldn’t be able to disable it. It’s less detectable than a VPN and less likely they’ll think it’s something you’re doing. You can also enable it all on your device. So that might be a good step one.

No. Because GPU is too expensive to crack WPA2. Otherwise you have to get luckly to gain misconfig exploits or vulnerable AP/routers using old WEP versions or other unpatched openning, glowies just use built in back doors on routers.

>A female body part.
i see sausage fingers which hides the bone structure and therefore makes it ambiguous. show me your adams apple
>>
>>109209953
Nope. The special hardware needed actually isnt that expensive, maybe $100, but the farthest youll get is gaining the encrypted handshake which then youll need a cracking rig, which gaymer and AI have absolutely destroyed that dream rig for nearly anyone without several $100,000 to spend,

Another poster said all you really need is Kali Linux. I also found a guide that says you only really need a wireless adapter that supports monitor mode and packet injection for hardware, and some software. https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=6295437

i've only done it a few times, not including unsecured networks. two of them were wep, which nobody uses anymore, and the most recent was in 2018, i used a WPS exploit, though i don't remember exactly what i used

Yes but your definition of 'beginner' needs to be 'beginner cybersec student/intern', not 'what's an IP address lol kek zoomer.faggot.png'
Lots of WiFi APs are using AES/WPA2 which while not trvial to crack, is indeed possible to, especially since a non-insignificant amount of people either keep the default password on their home LAN or use something simple and obvious. In both of these cases, as soon as you get a signal you can run a dictionary attack / brute force. This will take time with some rando shitty laptop but it is possible.

Otherwise you're hoping for an easy port being open on the WAN side (which is unlikely but I've seen it), a port forward that is using an insecure connection / protocol (again, not common but I've seen it), or an exploit / vuln in the router software or a service it is running. These are a bit more involved but a couple days using Kali and metasploit and you'll at least get a basic idea of what you need to do and if it's possible.

You could do this with no extra hardware and just a laptop with a wifi radio in it, but I find these kinds of attacks are easier when you have a dedicated dongle with a powerful antenna. Using wifi crackers takes over your wifi radio and swapping it back and forward for pentesting and normal use is annoying. A larger antenna helps locate and maintain a strong signal so you don't need to be in the guy's yard to carry out the attack.

>where to get that software
I'm not going on a list for your sake, but again, look at Kali linux and spend some time getting familar with some tools. I haven't done pentesting in a while but I think Hydra was one of the tools I used back then.
There are more tools / scripts out there but these are not white hat tools, so not I'm open to discuss.

For WPA2 no. You'll get like 90% of everything with just an alpha adaptor (for packet injection), but youll end up with a PSK, which a preshared key encrypted between the AP and the nodes you deauth. That has to be cracked. Aircrack, hashcat, hydra, whatever software doesnt matter. All of it is depends on good wordlists and lots of GPU or some can be config to use CPU, but GPU is far better and you need a lot of it to crack anything that isnt a weak password, and CPU doesnt scale the same. Since GPU is basically $10,000 and above now, and youd need like 10 or more plus other hardware to get them to work together, your looking at $100,000 in costs for a rig that can crack **some** things.

For any home router/APs, the backdoors are your ISP and the hardware's firmware via updates and direct remote administration built in. Its not a secret. They just bust on in whenever they want and if you try to configure them out, theyll push a firmware update to let themselves back in. Its secured through the CA and key exchange schemes as updates are pushed.

anon, none of this information is illegal to research or know. there's a fine line between security research and illicit hacking, and the line is how you use it. the information itself is the same. it's not hard to find tools and methods for cracking wifi networks and it won't put you on a list just looking it up.

it's like, idk, looking up the most likely fatal parts of a body to be shot at, this isn't illegal to want to look up or know, it is illegal to then use that information to shoot someone. see the difference?

hacking in a general sense isn't illegal, there are many legitimate uses for it. if you want to know more about legal hacking, try looking up what white hat/grey hat/black hat mean

>>109209863
>>109210816
oh and like >>109209883
says, just by asking here you're already researching the topic. so i think you already know that just asking questions isn't illegal
