Why does this cost over $1000? Are the raw materials inside it really that much more expensive than a 4TB hard drive that costs $200? Do the machines that produce it really cost that much more to run than the ones that produce 4TB hard drives?
I don't know
>>109292057basically you are a consumer so you will eat semen. that's how it goes. more power to the corpos B-)
>>109292057Retard. It's supply and demand. You voted for this, now it's time to pay the price
>>109292057It's mostly R'n'D and also these are more expensive to make in terms of how many more steps it takes to manufacture it and how much of it is scrapped during quality control. The more high end you try to make it, the bigger % ends up in the trash/recycled.
>>109292057what are u gonna do?make it urself?
>>109292057it's not made for goyim, do not buy it.
>>109293468This. Why do you need 32 tb?
Lmao, this is why I still use rewritable blurays.
>>109292057Why the fuck do you need 32tb in 1 disk? Buy a Nas or usb drive bay/tower
>>109292057Money is made on exclusivity - artificial barriers - not from actual worth of the thing you're selling.People don't like to pay for things and would gladly steal them if there were no consequences.Business is an art of forcing people to pay for things.
>>109292057God I love third-worlders.The billions of dollars of R&D that went into developing these things. The billions of dollars more of equipment that has to be built, maintained etc. to build these things. It just doesn't matter to them. Doesn't even enter their minds. The mental hardware required to understand that not everything is just waiting on the side of the road somewhere to be stole^Wharvested simply doesn't exist.CPUs are sand, so should be a few cents each. HDDs are rust-coated glass in a metal box, so should be a few cents each. They actually believe this.I'm starting to wonder if the WEF depopulation agenda is all bad.
>>109296170Stupid fucking brainlet if all hdds cost the same to make nobody would bother producing shitass 4tb drives just like nobodys producing 120gb ssd anymorethe sheer irony of braindead cattle like you trying to act superior to anyone is offensive to me
>>109296886>The billions of dollars of R&D that went into developing these things. The billions of dollars more of equipment that has to be built, maintained etc. to build these things>It just doesn't matter to them>Doesn't even enter their minds
>>109296981Giving technology to animals is a mistake
>>109292057How good of an idea is to even buy a disk that big for local use? Isn't it better to get like a few 4tb or 8tb ones?
>>109292071it's this. people are far too unprincipled to ever actually boycott anything so the abuse these companies dish out just gets more and more humiliating as time goes on.
>>109297140It's better to get a few 32TB ones.
>>109296981scary to think that less than half of india is online today
>>109297140You calculate how much total data you haveAdd 10% since 1TB on hdd isn’t actually 1TB of spaceAdd 30% for extra shit you’ll likely hoard soonAdd 20% so you can move things around when neededThen you buy two drives of capacity exceeding that and mirror them 1:1ie 10tb of data -> going for 16tb space -> buy two 16TB or 18TB drives (from two different manufacturers for safety reasons). All your data goes on one, then you sync it with the other once in a while>>109296170You sound like a faggot and your shit is all retarded

>>109297278https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXs_9OXRnQothey really like hard drives
>>109297285that's so cool that they did all that so i could watch porn whenever i want to.
>>109292057>32TBHoarder of 'P detected.
>>109296170>>109296981I have to fucking wonder if you're being retarded on purpose or if you're just a filthy troll. Hard drives have gone up in price 500+% because of AI datacenters and Sam Altman and Sam Altman's faggot fanboys defend these insane price rises because they love sucking Sam Altman's tiny cock
>>109292057$36.25/tb vs $50/tb, 4TB version actually more expensive.Disks are like other storages sold per space. They can be cheap to make, but you have to pay to team of scientists to make one.
>>109292057Just wait until you fund out how much this costs.
>>109292057They are, because the 4TB drive doesn't have a vacuum-sealed case and some laser doodads in it that allow it to be over 20TB.
>>109297858About the same price as the HDD in the OP, but you can't compare these two completely different things.
>>109292057>Are the raw materials inside it really that much more expensive than a 4TB hard drive that costs $200?More advanced machinery is needed. Same as chips: input costs are largely the same, but something fabbed on 14nm can’t hold up in performance to 2nm.There’s a bit more of other tech in modern hdds compared to chips, but the majority of price is in the machinery itself.

>>109297734>im poor reeeeeeeeeeWhy didn't you just say this? It's shorter and means the exact same thing.
>>109295846I need 8x 32TB drives in my NAS and that still won't be enough for my movie and tv collection. One 4K movie is 80GB if you don't want to compromise on quality.
>>109292057R&D, factories + monopoly tax
reminder they still haven't made 2TB/platter drives that are as reliable as the ancient 1TB/platter drives.
>>109292057The same way Sacha can charge $1000 an hour even if there's millions of her clones in her hometown; there's a high demand and enough people willing to pay that price.I'm sure they are now making billions more because of the ai hype, this consumer business is just a side hustle for them so they can charge how much they please. Be grateful they're still selling it to plebs.
