It doesn't stop the people that were, for example rioting, because they moved on to things like mastodon. It does, however, stop the ones they were wanting as a balance of the tribalism from organizing. The silent majority has lost it's voice by being unwilling to jump through the hoops. They made the juice not worth the squeeze.

But you should not contribute anyway. Try to only support federated networks like mastodon, Lemmy etc.
