>What useful LLM stuff can be done with a 5090?
Depends on how much system ram you have. Qwen 3.6 35A3B is probably your best options if you can use expert offloading. Ignore retards preaching that you HAVE to use dense. Your t/s will be massively inferior for a performance gain you won't even notice.

>Are LLMs used in games yet?

I feel like people that ask this shit don't even have any interest in knowing what llms are actually useful for.

>"Ummm wouldn't be cool if every game had AI?"

What the fuck for?

>>110036890
What were you asking you to do? Did you have clearly defined tasks, stages, and end states?

>>110037120
Use the tools you deem necessary and stop looking for normie approvals. Just make sure it works, is well documented, and is maintainable. That's what matters. No one and I mean NO ONE gift to shits about how the sausage is made or what's inside. When is the last time you mused about the inner workings of the code written in the last video game you played? When is the last time you cared whether or not the developers used an LSP or did everything "manually"? You didn't. So why do you suddenly care now?

>>110037180
Maybe it's my lack of imagination but I failed to see the use case for this. Do they think incorporating this will help it be more "personable" or "human like"?

Chemistry/physics simulations and self-learn tutors for my students

Between my paid Claude Pro and my free Chat GPT plus trial, I wonder, what should I use on which task.

Sonett gives out meh programming results - somewhat usable, but not exactly what I'm looking for unless I want to put tons of work into it. Opus is pretty good, but burns tokens like a motherfucker to the point I burned through my weekly budget within two days.

I'm undecided on Chat GPT. I like the preview window it uses alot less than Claude's Artifact. Programming-wise, as a layman, I can't catch the diference between Claude's Opus/mid and Soi/mid and Astra/low. Reasoning-wise, Astra-low caught shit the other models haven't yet when reviewing the results.

Maybe code with Opus then review/improve upon it with Astra/low as long as my free Chat GPT trial is still ongoing?

3B active in simpleton terms means a student has access to a librarian that knows the library and it's catalog like the back of their hand. Using a 27B (which will inherently have "less knowledge" than the 35B if you subscribe to the absolutist thinking of "bigger params = smarter) means the library is smaller and YOU have to look for the specific book yourself without any help. Much smaller than just asking the person or team pc librarians to fetch the shit for you because they'll find it for you much faster. You're a room temp IQ fool if you actually think active params = as smart as a 3b model

If I were in your shoes I would got clone the opencode repo if you already have it and create your own custom dev branch (separate from the upstream "main" branch). Then instruct a suitably capable model to draft up a plant to implement that on your system. If you like using the desktop app you can then ensure it also at the feature to that and then builds the desktop app from source. Having a separate Branch also means you can have a robust git tracking history.

It's all going to disappear over the years. Time works to my advantage because nobody hoards shit these days and server costs go through the roof. There's an overdependence on external hosts instead of local archives and model providers would love if currently available public archives disappeared once they're done training their models so they get to be the sole gatekeeper of information. I'd love to be a gatekeeper too.

He asked this because he has a 5090. 32 GB of vram mean you can technically run the full dense 27B model but it would be unusable at long contexts, which is basically mandatory if you want any model, local or not, to be able to work large code bases or any "long horizontal tasks" that involved sub agents. Either offloading the dense model's layers to cpu or a Moe model's experts to CPU means usable t/s with a much higher usable context setting since your total memory will be a lot higher than just 32GB. Moe kv cache growth is also a lot easier on memory than dense counterparts while having faster t/s. If your system can handle the full model loaded into vram at FULL context settings (for these specific models that would be ~262k) and can tolerate the slower t/s then yea dense model is better on paper. Even most local anons don't have that so it makes sense from an efficiency standpoint to just use a moe model with comparable capability and just offload the experts to CPU. And your own screenshot the hap between 35B and 27B isn't even that large and in some cases the 35B beats the dense one. Your decode speed will be noticeably shittier for performance boost you will not even notice.

Use Gemma4 to textually describe the image? Or make it output tags. Or use something like embeddinggemma-2, which can create an encoded description of an image which you can later search through. Google can explain it better than I can, otherwise ask your local clanker. I think this is way modern smartphones work if you ask for 'cats' in a local Gallery app after indexing, and then you see all your photos containing cats. You can just download these models. Honestly, it's just fun to dick around with these things.

weather sim for fictional worldbuilding (despite using earth as inital ref) is pretty much done
there's one big gap which is high mountains generally being turned into icecaps (but that's a pain to do by hand anyway) and complex oceanic currents
it also lets you paint (nudge) the simulation to add more precipitation or make a region warmer, etc. which is really useful because it's not just painting it, it's rerunning the sim with those modifiers on top (hence the whole north of africa being green)

it's not scientific by any means but it's more accurate than doing it by hand and very fast, plus you get to experiment with different parameters

it still doesn't let you make the actual geography yet, that's for later and why we're using an elevation model of the earth, now claude is doing rivers

>We have increased default context length for GPT-6.1 Sol to 500k when used through Codex & Work, up from 272k or an ~ 80% increase.
>We will go higher in the future, but it helps reduce occurrence of compactions and with tasks that require keeping a lot of context and nuance over periods of time. It was carefully tested and is the new sweet spot for most of our users. You can still override it if you want to be higher our lower, with maximum context length of GPT-6.1 Sol of 1M.
