>Claude tests every single change I land to http://claude.ai/code using the Claude Chrome extension. It opens a browser, tests the UI, and iterates until the code works and the UX feels good.

>automation is bad because people will lose jobs!
Stop basing your entire identity on your job and this is no longer a problem.
>but if my job is eliminated what will I do to make money?
Money is an abstraction created because resources are scarce. If jobs are largely eliminated it means that resources are no longer scarce, therefore money itself has become an obsolete concept.
>but the billionaires wont share the fruits of this automation with you and I!
They dont care about money, they care about winning social hierarchies. Musk doesnt want a 200M yacht because his old one was too small, he wants a 200M yacht because Bezos' yacht is only 180M. The people who eliminate the need for humans to labor will be remembered by history as saintlike figures, it is the ultimate prize for these people. They dont care about the actual wealth, they care about the prestige. They have no incentive to hoard something which has become infinitely plentiful, money is just the current board on which their game is played.

Eventually you will get bored as models become more and more reliable. They already need far less handholding than they did 6 months ago. Youre already behind the curve if you aren't kicking off hours/days long loops. So what are you going to do with that free time? Let your skills atrophy and outsource more and more of your thinking to the model? The latter isnt necessarily a bad thing, but your brain will atrophy if you dont replace that mental stimulation with something else. It doesnt have to be coding but telling somebody not to learn to code because AI can do it better is like telling somebody not to jog because cars exist.

Lol. All attempts to make AI profitable have failed so far. Dario says that coding is solved and yet Anthropic's major source of revenue is to sell AI coding tools to programmers. The problem is that there have been no major software breakthroughs for the past 10+ years. Software engineering will be dead. it's already dying, juniors are not getting hired. No one needs some vibecoder to orchestrate workflows if an LLM can do it by themselves. Receive customer feedback, evaluate it, update specs if needed. LLMs will do it. And guess what? To make AI companies profitable, prices will go up and only corpos and medium size companies will be able to afford it.
Learn trades, unironically.

If you thought coding was easily automatable you have never worked a blue collar job. It's all just applying rigid procedures. The only time you ever have to think is during a trouble call. Now that robotics are starting to improve at the same rate as these models, tradesmen wont be too far behind the SWEs when it comes to automation. And unlike SWEs theres an actual shortage of skilled laborers, so theres even more of an incentive to replace them.

For now. It's obviously easier to automate a fully digital job. That will probably change as robotics gets better and cheaper. Remember, there's a powerful feedback loop in robotics that's probably easier to kick off than LLM RSI. Once the robots are good enough to make more robots they get really cheap really fast.

>>
>>110055271
you're not thinking big enough. the anti-robitics chimpout will be colossal, orders of magnitude bigger than the anti-ai chimpout that's brewing now, and the robots will be guarding themselves and YOU from the monkey gorilla horde.
>>
>>110055256
blue collar work requires someone who needs your service and reputation. you can't go to a trade school and just end up with a job.

>>
>>110055236
I've been arguing against that guy too but you're also wrong on this one. It's kind of competitive to get an apprentice position but there's still a viable pipeline to entering well paid blue collar work that doesnt seem to exist in tech anymore. Ground men and helpers are in demand everywhere.
I still stand behind everything I said here >>110055261, theyll still get automated in the near(ish) future, but if you need a job now and you cant get one in tech it's a valid option.
The main problem with this is that it takes about 4 years of work for an apprentice to become a journeyman and until that happens you aren't making shit. So if those high paid bluecollar jobs get automated in the next 4 years you won't see that upside while you're paying your dues waiting on your journeyman ticket.>>110055261

>>110055280

They've been trying it for decades. However, it took less than 5 years to eliminate junior SWEs.

Perhaps. I think Dario and Altman overhyped and oversold their products, and many SWEs I personally know draw the wrong conclusion that LLMs will never replace them. However, LLMs are getting better, and the usual cope “muh specs, muh orchestration” won’t work anymore in a couple of years. And then they will be fired too.Unless you are actually working on some novel concepts or doing research, your days in software are numbered.

>Developers on the game, a shooter featuring characters from the Marvel and Star Wars franchises, were instructed to implement an “AI first” production model using tools such as Anthropic’s Claude. Humans will then manage and guide that work. “No more hand-written code,” one of the game’s directors told staff in an internal message reviewed by Bloomberg. The director added that all art for the game would be “generated with full AI workflows.”
