People here a mostly demoralizing autists who like talking about how they hate everything. The same reason why they say any quantization is bad. In my opinion, some of the Mistral NeMo and Ministral models--so Violet Lotus and Cydonia--have their place. They're not as good in some ways as newer models, but it's better just to try them and see if you like them than to believe random anonymous people here or on reddit.
I've found Cydonia handles physical positioning (sex positions) more consistently than Gemma 12B, for example. If you want non-consensual sex RP, sometimes you have to steer Gemma more or keep hitting regen than you do with some of the uncensored *istral finetunes.

Compared to llama.cpp almost anything will look fast, to be fair. Remember, llama.cpp's appeal is working on a wide range of hardware and its slow & steady development. The reason the vast majority of improvements are rejected isn't because cudadev hates you; it's to maintain a stable pace of change and to wait for everything to be battle-tested in other inference engines so that you can trust it won't break every time you update.

Extra context, multiple models, parallel sessions, other inference/diffusion like embeddings, images, tts/stt, video, etc. It gives me lots of options in addition to 512k context on GLM 5.3 flash.
I can move things around to offload more layers and get faster pp/inference as well if I want.
Mostly it gives me lots of extra flexibility.

>is this really the best way
Depending on the model and quality settings you can compress 4-5 text tokens into one image token without significant loss; some can do more.
See: https://arxiv.org/abs/2510.18234
>We present DeepSeek-OCR as an initial investigation into the feasibility of compressing long contexts via optical 2D mapping. DeepSeek-OCR consists of two components: DeepEncoder and DeepSeek3B-MoE-A570M as the decoder. Specifically, DeepEncoder serves as the core engine, designed to maintain low activations under high-resolution input while achieving high compression ratios to ensure an optimal and manageable number of vision tokens. Experiments show that when the number of text tokens is within 10 times that of vision tokens (i.e., a compression ratio < 10x), the model can achieve decoding (OCR) precision of 97%. Even at a compression ratio of 20x, the OCR accuracy still remains at about 60%. This shows considerable promise for research areas such as historical long-context compression and memory forgetting mechanisms in LLMs. Beyond this, DeepSeek-OCR also demonstrates high practical value. On OmniDocBench, it surpasses GOT-OCR2.0 (256 tokens/page) using only 100 vision tokens, and outperforms MinerU2.0 (6000+ tokens per page on average) while utilizing fewer than 800 vision tokens. In production, DeepSeek-OCR can generate training data for LLMs/VLMs at a scale of 200k+ pages per day (a single A100-40G).

I was lucky to get those engineering samples MI100s...basically let me get 3 for the price of one. Dunno if any other anons managed to snag any before someone bought the entire remaining stock.
If you've got RAM already the rest is "cheap". Tyan or supermicro and an EPYC Milan are about $1000 max and high-wattage used PSUs seem to be all over the place post-bitcoin.
Good luck!
>>
>>110059488
You can use a RWKV model as an encoder and project the compressed context tokens into the embedding space of your model. It's feasible in theory.

I'm saying that if you finetuned the base/pre-trained model with sufficiently varied conversational data (i.e. not just ERP/coom logs), then it would certainly say wild shit. Not the instruct (-it) version that everybody uses in practice.
>>110059772
Roughly 6T tokens (1.56T words), half of which "dialog", pre-formatted into turns. Even the pretrained model could engage in conversations out of the box. The final model was finetuned on several thousands of higher quality conversations. https://arxiv.org/pdf/2201.08239
But raw modern pre-trained models don't seem to have issues with conversations in text completion, other that on their own, they won't stop after their turn.

GLM Flash works but for some reason it runs like pure ass on my machine compared to other models the same size. it's like it's being throttled or something.

Gemma 4 is okay, I've trying out the Scarlett/Melody/Serenity versions right now.

So far Qwen models are the most performant and put up the least fight about content, but their writing gets samey and they repeat a lot of text.

>>
>>110059931
I was wrong, GLM Flash actually runs fine for me, I was confusing it with another model I tested earlier.
I'm unsure about using GLM because it seems to get confused really easy and formats text in weird ways. Like, it will randomly bold/italicize blocks of text, and when it makes bullet-lists it skips numbers and changes indents every other line.

Depends how willing you are to put up with BS and buy used parts.
Probably the best bet is:
>EPYC Rome (Romes are $400, motherboards are like $1200)
>8x32GB DDR4-3200 ($2000 used)
and either:
>1 really good GPU (a 5000 72GB would fit in your budget, $9500)
>2+ mid GPUs (no particular order: 50x0s, V100s, CMP170HXs, 3080 20GBs, R9700s, MI100s, MI50 32GBs, V620s)

If you're really willing to put up with BS and/or use schizoforks, replace the top two with "2 EPYC Romes" and "16x32GB DDR4-3200" for some absurd RAM bandwidth. Keep in mind that mainline llama.cpp's NUMA support blows (no idea whether Strata supports NUMA yet), so this pretty much forces you into three routes:
>KTransformers
>vibecoding your own fork (like me)
>random vibecoded forks (like mine, 2mw)
Also, if you get 2 CPUs and multiple GPUs, don't make the mistake of putting it in your bedroom. This thing idles at over 400W.

That's good, women hold like 80% of all consumer debt these days. Your best bet to survive is to have no loans that they can enslave you with and have no money for them to steal
>>
>>110061315
You're just tall. Women don't know what confidence is.

These are the metrics from a woman's perspective:
Tall, Athletic, Handsome, Charismatic, Popular, Wealthy.

The mix probably is different under different circumstances. But these days all women are the same, that's all of them, everywhere you'll ever go, except probably really poor places, where they're looking to escape poverty.
>>
>>110061325
There is no alternative but the total revocation of all forms of the modern government, extistentially it is necessary - for Christian existence requires it, without a total revocation of the whole enterprise itself, everywhere and everything is death against all of God's children, that's why I am confident that Putin will nuke DC, New York City, and London. Babylon, in other words.

And, since I know this, I avoid the city like it's a plague. I hate it, it's a cockroach.

>>
>>110061403
I assume women think that because they always claim they like how confident I am and just do whatever I want. But it's just autistic behavior not confidence. I literally live off of women by moving in with them and having them financially support me which usually works for 1-3 years before they get tired of me and I have to move out. Yeah I used to be ashamed of this "unmanly loser behavior" in the past but by now I have stopped caring. I'm just not cut out for working.

Is that all just fake hype? Like I downloaded IQ3 and it cant even properly do tool calling and read a file in full, pretty crazy.
>>
>>110061590
Strata is not fake hype I'm using it right now. Polystrata even let me run GLM 5.3 flash at 25t/s on my single RTX 3090 which is 10x better at godot script for your particular usecase by the way so make sure to try it out: https://huggingface.co/spaces/VecSzn/PolyStrata
>>
>>110061611
Interesting, will definitely check it out, thanks anon.
Which model did you choose? I tried the IQ3 one. Recommended was IQ3_s. Thought thats probably dumber but maybe thats what I should have used.
Qwen-next was not able to read a larger file in full through opencode. Was reasoning endlessly. Never had that happen before.
>>
>>110061628
I use Q4_XL in strata which it says my hardware doesn't support at the largest context size I just installed it like that anyway with 0 issues. The warnings and recommendations it gives are vibecoded by an extra-conservative LLM so just ignore it and install the biggest options it offers and see if performance is satisfactory, if it's too slow go down 1 tier and retry. You should get around 50t/s if you have a rtx 3090 and enough ram to fit. This is why polystrata is superior you get 25t/s for a significantly smarter model that spends less time thinking and thus actually accomplishes tasks faster in wall time.

How big is the difference between 8gb, 12gb and 16gb vram gpu? Not upgrading yet, but thinking about it since my gpu is expiring (it's over 10 year old, it's a hag gpu)
>>
There is so much low hanging fruit still it's insane. Without even touching models itself we still have very unoptimized harnesses. The inference engines are still pretty shit even though (poly)strata is fixing this. The GPU driver code still isn't optimized for inference. The OS still isn't optimized for inference. The programming languages the AI agents code in still aren't optimized for being written by AI instead of humans. The algorithms behind file systems and read/write actions common for AI agents to take aren't optimized yet.

Even if everything stagnates now and not a single new model releases I expect coding to be 100x faster 1 year from now on existing hardware just from optimizing these layers in the stack alone.

What part of "everything is a plugin" did you not understand?
The core concept, clearly.
Just install Hermes if you want a kitchen sink approach and stop bitching.
>>
>>110061694
What is your usecase? If you have a lot of ram then vram is more of a "speeddial" for example I run GLM 5.3 flash at 25t/s on 24gb vram but if I had 16gb vram I would still be able to run the same model but it would be at 10-15 t/s instead. It depends on you as a person if that is acceptable or not.

Why do you get your AI to call you master when it does all the work?
>>
>>110061993
true enough, it's even stupider, but the rt is hot poop.

when you use dlss it's really 2i2i, where they are scamming you into thinking it's "more than an image". well, it's a special image that's fed to id, or, if you prefer, it's a matrix of data, with shall we say, extra bits on the pixels, basically.

like one thing it will probably do reliably is various types of blurring, if you like blur.

the materials info is worthless, because it doesn't know eg what's behind glass, so that's stupid. Like if it knows there's an oblique surface, again, stupid, it doesn't know what that means.

You're not going to get enhanced information from that type of thing, it's going to slop you a hot soup of poop.

And like why would it work?

is actually not
it's more of an adaptive neural filter than anything else
when nvidia used the term 'neural rendering' i was genuinely excited to see some good use of radiance field or neural material format, neural light transportation, latent rendering etc..
but when i saw the dlss5 demo and it requiring a separate 5090 i genuinely thought they slopped something quickly to demo the would-be effect of their new technique
but instead it was really the thing they were going to ship
still cool tech and whatnot but a genuine term for more exciting stuff wasted on something subpar

>Advocates for AI safety and regulation are emerging as a force in U.S. elections, spending nearly $50 million this election cycle on candidates who favor regulation, a new analysis shared exclusively with Axios shows. The safety spending points to the unusual power dynamics in the AI race, where researchers shape policy and regulation in ways that differ at times from the priorities of the companies where they work. The researchers add to the advocacy and giving of an array of AI safety groups that have been well-funded for years, including from Coefficient Giving, a philanthropy with close ties to many top AI executives, especially at Anthropic.

It's getting increasingly difficult to do it locally. Computer/browser use is the only reliable but slow solution and it requires a good model. Exa and some APIs give you free monthly searches, usually around 1K. They usually get access and are fast but obviously not ideal. Sometimes it's easier to just visit and save all the sites yourself manually and point your model at them to do its thing.

I like how just a bit over a month ago /lmg/ was calling me a shill for pushing agentic AI and that "chat was all you need" and now it seems literally everyone has shifted over to agentic AI workflows with strata.

It's insane how quickly things go from "that's not possible" to everyone using it. One anon last week said he wouldn't believe we had AGI until it was possible to have bloodborne on PC.

I suppose if you are a shill you can make anything up.

It would be nice if I could click a button on a site and have the AI just take a look or something.
>>

You're a schizo \n\n is the preferable way for oldfags to type and I'm guessing /lmg/ skews older than the rest of 4chan because of the high buy-in required.

no any goty copy, and obviously a jailbait ps4 to dump it, I'd share mine but I don't think catbox allows 30gb zips
>>
>>110062483
There are browser extensions which parse the site and save to any format you like with a single click. Then the model can just search through the files/data.

Not having a dedicated machine is the biggest hurdle I'm running into. I don't want to pollute my machine with random garbage and I also don't enjoy starting and stopping the LLM because I want to play a game or something. When is the crash? I need a new machine.

Good. Make Huawei 48GB VRAM for $600 and I'll permanently relocate to China and marry one of their women.
>>
>>110062568
It's kind of the opposite for me. I want to use my agent to tweak my system and having it run directly on it is convenient for that. I also have enough VRAM/RAM to play games whilst having image gen and a model running in the background.
Having a second rig would be nice for quanting and stripping away reliance on cl*ud for things like fitting and tweaking local models for performance.

Getting a second card would help you a lot. If you're playing something demanding, having a lot of VRAM on one card won't help because of compute bottleneck.
Get another of the same card and now you can play vidya while you gen or gen text and images at the same time.

It's not for coding, like all Liquid models. It's really good at general agentic tasks and many various tool calls, way better than 26B and it's good at following instructions. It's good for what it's trying to be and extremely fast for web search/research, but the biggest complaint I have is no vision. What a colossal retarded fuckup to not include that.
>>
>>110061720
Image generation is compute hungry, you want enough vram to load gpu fully. How much is enough depends on a model. Vram speed matters too.

I don't want you to lean too hard on my advice because I don't know your financial situation and set up BUT what I would consider in your shoes from what I know is a 5060ti 16GB as the second GPU.
There's an anon that has been stacking 5060tis but I don't agree with it because VRAM per GPU does matter if you're stacking for max VRAM and I wouldn't do it for anything less than 24GB.
