The old aristocracy had over 100 years between the french revolution and ww1 to sort their shit out and prevent an all out collapse of their institution an they did fucking nothing. worse than nothing, they often doubled down. the monarchy/aristocracy is truly a failed institution. not killed by outside sources, but by suicide, like a man sinking to the bottom of the ocean because he wont simply let go of chest of gold.
