What is /ALT/?
If you're looking for a place to post your cartooning then you've found the right general. This is /ic/s 1st and only merged hub where both Eastern and Western stylization can coexist peacefully, hence the double title.
>Rules & Guidelines
(1) Any form of cartooning is welcome; so submit and receive feedback from others. (2) Please resize your images before posting. (3) Share your knowledge and (4) Remember to not be afraid of asking for critique. Most importantly, keep discussion at a civil level.
>I came for anime. Why does the image OP say cartoons general?
To distinguish from the anime study thread (janitor supported). Please post your studies there and personal work goes here.

Posting here for the first-time and I'm looking to get some feedback. I'm feel like the hair and shirt isn't quite right but I'd like to know what others might take issue with.

>>7684037
I really like the armor. I feel like you pulled something pretty tricky off really well with the arm and leg pieces.

>>7684073
Awesome style man really like the way you draw your faces. Also really great line work.

The face is too moeblob in comparison to the size of those tits. Perhaps make her look a little older.

Anons kinda right I did just take the easy way out and redraw it. I draw too often by gut instinct and I knew something about this face was really bothering me but I couldn't figure out why. Here is another attempt, I think ultimately my issue is with the angle of the elements on her face in relation to each other.

like we are looking from above them so then how am I seeing a nostril? the lips and nose are too far apart for this angle they would be much closer. The eye thats closer to us should be lower. ALTERNATIVELY, she is giving him the SIDE look where women tilt their head. This is a much more SOFTER and MOTHERLY look which I think you may have been actually going for. In which case the lips should be angled in the same direction as the eyes from this high angle

again just an opinion

Thanks man! Your drawing is nice, but make the head a bit bigger next time >>7686084
It’s interesting that you made a feminine face with masculine lines, but yeah the line weight would be the saving grace here. For example the line between the lips should be darker to indicate compression and the hair shouldn’t have more line weight than the skin because the skin is flesh, which is weighty, compared to hair, which appears lighter in this image

Everything I try always looks very messy and clustered. Though that might just be from my lack of skill when it comes to drawing backgrounds in general tbf

try looking at the show background for reference in color schemes, or take screenshots of the background and then bring to your drawing software and change hue/value/saturation until you find your prefered pallete.

Imo on the left her big eye draws attention directly to her face. On the right there's less of a focal point. Also left has a more obvious expression, she looks concerned while the right could be sleepy, lust, etc.

start by simplifying the total space to a 3 step notan that has a color harmony you like then try to distinguish local objects without disrupting the big 3 steps you established. Here's a quick mock up of the idea with the 3 steps I picked in the middle.

I shat out this piece last night (read: this morning) and, apart from the obvious technical blunders, the "glaze" I put over it deemphasized the subjects. Depending on the monitor I'm using the characters are too desaturated and they blend in with the intentionally chaotic background. I didn't know how to create holes in the glazing without it being an obvious bright spot, the exception to this being the window. I was going for a California sunset since sunsets here flood houses with yellow light. IDK man I was so tired of working on it I uploaded it without even signing the damn thing.

Alright people of /ALT/, does my current art have any sort of general appeal outside of being faux 2000s anime with amateur heavy inking? What do you feel I should change If I'm exclusively going full digital?
For reference, I'm going for a look similar to Soul Eater era Atsushi Ohkubo and Hiroyuki Takei

An attempt at a shoujo-ish style with the square-ish eyes. I really don't get how they work desu.
Like i referenced a lot to draw this pic (mostly CLAMP stuff) but if you told be to rotate it sideways I couldn't really intuit how they work

>>7731891
yup, people want to see colors and renders. I personally really love artists with great linework too but sketches and colors are what audiences want to see.
>>7735880
I mean for those two you'll really want to push your shape design, they're work barely depends on hatching. Guys like Mike Mignola are similar in a way, weirdly enough.

Are there any actual /beg/ level online artists with 5 digits followers count online? I don't want to "get good" before getting an audience and my art has already been ripped to shreds by the people over here, so I need achievable examples taking the present in consideration instead of the usual "lol just wait years to get gud" responses.
>>
>>7744343
where's your art?
>>
>>7744958
up your ass
>>
>>7744343
uhhhh clearly you havent been paying attention because nearly all popular online artists are beg tier
>>
>>7744343
there are plenty but most do porn or webcomics. aka their art has value that is tied to something other than their skill level. you don't really have to do porn or webcomics but you have to have something that people want to follow you specifically for. if your art isn't interesting despite its flaws, then you might as well just spend time getting gud. most of the time getting an online social media audience is a crapshoot anyways and is reliant on how much the algorithm likes you.

I got most of the effects by using the Dot Machining Action Set on clip studio. I did a lot of paper and layer effects on top of it too to make it look more aged. It takes me about 30 minutes to do all the post processing, but I love doing it so I don't mind too much
I wanted to reply to all the comments, but if I reply to anymore my post will be marked as spam. I still really appreciate the people who commented on my art
