I think his teaching method works for me, but I don't know what to draw after I finish my daily exercises, or how to apply them to personal work.

I feel like I have no creativity at all. Maybe I'm just depressed... but I still enjoy practicing
>>
why is his skin the color of poop?

Too bad theres no art course to fix your mental illness

He has a course for that, sucks ass though. Not even worth pirating.

That's a good question, actually. I guess the sun was dangerous where his ancestors lived and pooped.

Following your logic, are white people made of milk?
>>
>>7718467
Why wouldn't they be? you are what you eat dumbass.
>>
>>7718486
So drinking milk causes you to be white and eating poop causes you to be brown?
>>
>>7718421
How do you even improve your creativity? In art, math, programming, and so on.
>>
>>7718579
Not possible.

>>
>>7718421
honest question, why do you even want to learn to draw if you don't have any desire to draw?
>>
>>7718579
Intuition. You have to be able to listen to yourself and enter your inner cosmos.
>>
>>7718579
Also, the more time you spend training your brain to solve a problem type, the better you will get at it. Creativity is problem solving. If you do it often you will get used to it.

I tend to find that the vast majority of Asian artists are needlessly dickheads for the sake of being dickheads. Fuck ‘em.
>>
>>7718421
It's a course by an autist for autists, any person above retardation quickly realises that it is a massive waste of time. It's a great containment zone for morons and art failures though.

I never said i didnt want to draw, i enjoy practicing fundamentals. But when i have to put MY ideas on paper they look bad

A permabeg with skin allegedly on the fecal side of the spectrum, though I wouldn't know.
>>

But why is he brown doe?
>>
My problem with drawabox is that working with fineliner feels fundamentally different from exploring and sketching with a pencil, and it doesn't teach that at all. So when you sit down to do the stupid "50/50" rule you can't apply anything from the exercises to that

I still think it's useful at teaching perspective and form but it feels like it totally misses the mark as an intro drawing course because fineliner is so hyper specific

>>
>>7726732
I dislike books like Drawing on the right side of the Brain and Drawing for the Absolute and Utter Beginner. they way they insist that you use certain mediums.
No i am not buying all those different types of paper, pens, brushes, colors, erasers or even ink and charcoals.
I will just use a graphite pen, regular eraser and an A4 sketch book. That is sufficient for studying the fundamentals.
>>
>>7726778
>>7726787
Wait, are you implying that poopy skin is a bad thing??
>>
>>7726732
>My problem with drawabox is that working with fineliner feels fundamentally different from exploring and sketching with a pencil

That's the whole point, retard. You can hide behind sketchy lines, erasing and building up value, with a fine liner you're working with nothing but line.
>>7726791
>I used to use fine liners but that shit aint cheap
They're like $3, I take it you don't have a job. Also it can be to your benefit that you think that way. When I go on a diet I usually buy a more expensive snack, if I ever find myself wanting to binge, my poor mind takes over and stretches the food for all it's worth. You may make your lines count if it costs money.

don't wait up, uncomfortable is currently comfy taking a nice relaxing bath in his jacuzzi--something you can't afford.

Can I do drawabox in Photoshop? I can control myself to not erase or undo but idk if there is something special about paper here
>>
>>7727399
No
>>
>>7727399
No anon. It must be on papers only, with a fineliner. Nothing else, no buts. Why? Well Irshad-sama says so, you will understand in the future. Or realized it's bullshit and you just do whatever you find that works for you. Just go and draw them in Photoshop.

Irshad Karim (the Drawabox guy) is only an int? Holy fucking shit. So all that box drawing only gets you to int level?
>>
>>7718425
Uhhhhh good question
>>
>>7728139
>Why? Well Irshad-sama says so, you will understand in the future
there's an entire article written on his reasoning behind the recommendation to only use pen and paper, it's really your own damn fault if you choose to be willfully ignorant and pretend like it's an arbitrary decision.

>>7728308
read the article instead of assuming what you think they mean. if you're unable to expend even a token effort for understanding the course, i sincerely doubt your cognitive ability is such that you'll ever become a compelling artist.

Practice, start by drawing something like towergirls that you don't have much control over. Or play exqusite corpse with your friends (I hope you have friends). Any type of freeform play with pressure should do it.

>>7727399
i'm of the opinion that if you're going to do digital art, then learn art digitally, the only good reason not to is an amatuer artist who can't even draw a line blaming their tools for their art being shit instead of themselves.
>>
To all the people shitting on this guy (no pun intended), what alternative do you suggest? drawabox is pretty decent

if the goal of draw a box is to start thinking in 3d and be able to draw a cube and cylinder then i'd say an actual book on drawing in perspective that'll just teach you all the tricks.
Marshall Vandruff's old perspective course from the 90s is on billibilli and it's basically the same stuff
>here's how you solve this problem in perspective, this is why vanishing points are what they are, do this thousands of times and you'll be able to do it by intuition.

and supplement it by getting literally any perspective book, they all cover the same exact shit because perspective only has a few rules to follow.
i don't think it's necessary for you to be able to learn how to freehand a cube before you can start drawing what you want, no one would call and artist a fraud because he used a ruler and perspective grid to block things out.
>>
>>7729643
Ctrl+paint is a nice alternative
>>
>>7729948
how would you describe him, physically? like in terms of ethnic background etc
>>
>>7729643
gdi I just realized this is supposed to be a triple pun (shit art, shitting streets, and skin tone). very rude and tasteless, but I had to admit that triple puns are clever
>>
i think about suicide more often than i should
>>
>>7728645
His course is free and his own art doesn't change the fact that it's helpful lmao

if you're a beginner you're losing nothing by trying lesson 1
>>
>>7718421
>I feel like I have no creativity at all. Maybe I'm just depressed...
I can relate but I don't think I'm depressed. Even after years of drawing and improving I am not an ideafag so I do nothing with this skill aside from more studies that only I get to see.
