Have you ever created a work of art that is as good as this drawing? If not, what do you think you lack that is keeping you from this level of skill?
>>
No, I can't say I ever drew something that launched a billion dollar franchise.
>>
>>7719818
yes and I got banned for posting it
>>

That's not really the point. Plenty of bad art is commercially successful. I mean strictly in terms of art quality.

>Have you ever created a work of art that is as good as this drawing?
I don't know. it's really hard for me to judge my own work. also, how do you quantify how good an artwork is?
>>
>>7719818
if its so good, then if I posted it on my twitter it'll get a million likes, right?
>>
>>7719823
whats your metric for art quality? Are you judging based purely on technical ability and execution or more subjective elements like storytelling?
>>
>>7719910
It's partly subjective ofc, but for me an artwork is good if it expressing something true. It might just be the gesture of a finger or the shadow around the nose or the poise of the figure, but something about the piece accords with the world as we see it.
>>
>>7719914
No, social media is a terrible arbiter. I see brilliant work ignored and crap work lauded all the time.
>>
>>7719918
I think artists use all sorts of techniques in search of some truth in the world. A good artist can draw stick figures that carry truth even if the art itself isn't that detailed.

The face has such brilliant draftsmanship to me.

Mileage. I'm confident I will eventually get there.
>>
>>7719818
Is the artist a pedo?
>>
>>7721189
No.
>>
>>7720002
Absolutely. Divinely subtle
>>

based

Times have changed
They'll think of me as a creep if I draw something like that
