Are super skilled Twitter people who get to /pro/ level art usually fully self-taught, or did they go to specialized schools or something?
Only referring to entry-level smut artists like CSR, Eigaka, Krekkov, GoldenSmurf, Riz, Reiq, Wamu, etc.

self-taught usually means you had the discipline to get through learning, and therefore the perseverance to reach pro level. A lot of people who go to shit like art schools think it's gonna be an autopilot to success and that's why you see so many failures. High art skills require strong drive and dedication.

Just. Draw.
>>

mostly self-taught from what i've seen. with more narrow subject matter you can just focus on one thing.

Are you asking this because you're considering going to art school? The way art school works is that it teaches fundamentals. It's not going to teach you to draw in a specific style besides a more technically proficient and anatomically correct way. There isn't a school for twitter goon art. If you want to draw in a certain style because you like it, you just have to practice drawing in that style. Having a background of strong fundamentals and technical education just makes doing so a little easier because you aren't simultaneously building the car while learning how to drive it.

Artist source?

I hate when people use an emblem as their signature.

His neck being small is really annoying. I guess it's to keep the "trap" face or whatever from distorting but I still don't like it.

Just study anatomy and photorealism. I recommend some type of teacher unless you're hyper autistic but you'll be able to draw all the gay porn you want eventually.

The majority of Japanese pro animators go from high school to the anime industry, and they learn on the job, in the last years you have self taught webgen animators that do freelance from home, a lot of those aren't Japanese so they can't learn on the studio under veterans, there's also a bunch of them that go to vocational school to learn it but that's not necessary, picrel is why.

>/pro/ level
anon, none of these artists could be considered "pro" even on their own field, specially eigaka and krekkov. Most of them are unable to hold consistency in their work and most of the time their art is a hit or miss. both i mention have good pieces but is always 2 drawings out of 10 at best, riz and wamu in the other hand have better understanding of his own style and proportions.

Tl;dr: you are already conditioned to believe eigaka and krekkov are the best artists of this generation but you are wrong, get better taste btw.

In the US, most art schools are just for bullshit fine art degrees. There are some good ones but they're mostly trash. Europe and Asia have better schools for actually teaching you to produce aesthetically pleasing and technically skilled work.
There are enough resources online that you can teach yourself these days, though.

I couldn't give two shits about this conversation because it's dumb but GOD DAMN I wanna fuck this catboy so bad
>>
>>7722407
Most are self-taught or mentored.

But a lot of asian artists especially tend to actually come from art schools. That industry standard gachaslop style is unmistakable.

Also yes, aside from maybe CSR or Reiq, none of these guys aren't even that good, there's no reason to think they're not self-taught.
>>
>>7723142
Nobody even mentioned Eigaka or Krekkov here, why were they the ones brought up? Nobody thinks they're professional tier, even themselves.
>>
>>7723184
I don't look at gay porn so know none of these people but OP did.

>Eigaka
>Krekkov
>Gsmurf
>Riz
Completely self taught. Just sheer talent
>CSR
Italian clasically trained
>Reiq
Guy has been doing the same pinups for almost two decades now. Is from Venezuela and taught himself because according to him the art sphere is nonexistent and thanks to his Jiggly Girls work escaped to America where he kept drawing anime girl pinups, attended art workshops and colleges to really fucking learn his stuff and is now living in Japan irrc.
You should look up his channels where he has live drawing sessions and study groups. Really solid guy.

This made me wonder, have there ever been any popular non-webcomic authors internet artists with low tier skills comparable to the likes of Isayama or Fujimoto?
