How do you guys go about stealing compositions without it feeling like a copy of someone elses work?

Mesh it with a mood, style, or palette of another piece you like.

>>7730462You steal it but give it your own spin, new characters, narrative, slightly different angle... (like many examples in cinema and tv shows). Or you grab extra references that go with the idea you wanted, then create something referencing them. Did you read steal like an artist? i assume yes by post titlething is, don't pretend you invented the shot if you didn't or try to hide it. examples are "akira" shots, wihich are referenced a lot or used as a parody/homenage cause it's very well known. controversial example is perfect blue and requiem for a dream, initially gives no credit, in general doesn't feel derivative enough.> TLDR: Copying is outright recreating an artist's work without their permission and claiming ownership.
