I’m tired of people giving me bullshit sugarcoated fake compliments to hide their discomfort for my “drawings” (it s not art in any form of the word) and getting no real critique. I know I’m bad at drawing. Nobody will tell me it to my face. Pose was traced but everything else is freehand.
This is the first digital artwork I’ve done in months. I’ve barely touched my 200 dollar tablet and whenever I sit down to draw digitally I get so frustrated I just lay down and go to sleep because of how frustrated I get on how “not good” it is. The point of art is to make it first, and I can’t overcome this hurdle. I’m completely fine painting with acrylics but even then I still hate what I make, but at least I can still make it.

I like your drawing, what are u so sad about, keep at it for a few years and you can only get better
>>
>>7738296
honestly better then the shit i draw, the style looks intentional so it look good, if you want to get better try prospective is the thing that probably the drawing lacks but after that you have a solid style to work with
>>
>>7738296
how often do you do master studies of artists that you want to draw like? what kinds of projects do you do? this mogs 90% of /ic/ anyways
>>
>>7738296
Your art lacks structure. What do your studies and references look like?
>>
>>7738296
You seem to know how to kawaii. I suggest grinding linework to iron out the bodies. Don't bother coloring, you just want to draw body-shapes.
>>
>>7738403
how would I include perspective into this? Can you sketch it out?
>>7738409
No. I try to but I end up giving up because when I copy things they’re awfully distorted
>>7738417
I’ll attach the reference I used, the only studies I did in art were in freshman year of highschool because it was required for credit. Was incredibly angry at those too and threw them all away.
>>7738469
I actually do mainly do only line work, this is one of the times I’ve actually colored something

My main inspirations for art are Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou and Dungeon Meshi (both manga, not anime)
I’ll attach pose referenced when I find it in a separate message

>No. I try to but I end up giving up because when I copy things they’re awfully distorted
then keep doing copies until they're not distorted, it may take 2-3 redraws until you hone it. you should work on upping your accuracy then copying an artist you admire.
you've probably maxed all your beginner gains and it's time to get on the study grind- find a teacher you like and follow their work/course/book, they all teach more or less the same thing. other than that keep drawing and posting
>>
>>7738943
Beginner gains?
Do you recommend any artists or books? And I don’t post my art anywhere. This is the first time I’ve posted something.

Highly recommend checking out Tacos “Point Character Drawing book, it has tons of good anatomy tips and that’s where I learned a lot about anime anatomy from

If you're so clever you should be able to give your own critique of your art.
>>
>>7738296
the proportions are fucked, read loomis mah nigga
>>
>>7739106
Never said I was clever
>>7739207
loomis?
>>7739103
Just need general critique like you are all giving me besides that one anon. It does help. I hate being dickrode all the time because I’ll never improve or grow and it’s all just bs to get on my good side
>>
>>7739267
OP your drawing is sincere and charming.
But posting for crit outside the general is pants on head retarded. Only headpats for you now.
>>
>>7738296
man this is less art advice and more life advice but just embrace failing, not in a false positivty mindset but just along the lines of
>yeah ok I spent X hours on this and it turned out shit but I could have been doomscrolling like a retard for X hours instead. at least this way I probably learned something and am one step closer to getting good

you just have to not care. I don't care if you think you're too neurotic to succeed or achieved nothing else in life or think you're doomed for failure, just throw all of that out and back yourself unconditionally with a positive mindset.

that said, the actual drawing doesn't seem that bad? I'm not the best person to give advice but you might want to check out the /beg/ sticky, it seems like you'd want to really study figure drawing so you can construct bodies that look believeable and create a solid foundation to work off of before you add clothes, hair etc

you also might want to use references outside of tracing, the blonde girl's skirt in particular doesn't really have any shading or detail on the folds.
>>
>>7739267
Andrew Loomis, famous American illustrator known for the "Loomis method" of drawing heads. his beginner book is "fun with a pencil", also did succesful drawing, figure drawing for all it's worth and a couple other books.
>Just need general critique like you are all giving me besides that one anon. It does help. I hate being dickrode all the time because I’ll never improve or grow and it’s all just bs to get on my good side
best advice I can give is spend some time lurking in the beginner /beg/ thread, or anime study general /asg/ until you pick up the vocabulary, start posting and asking for crit. look up and watch Krenz's tutorial on accuracy (I think it's in the /asg/ thread).
DO NOT SPEND TOO MUCH TIME IN /beg/. you should just get in, get some feedback and learn the terms, then get out and go study. only come back to post more studies for crit. spending too much time there (or on this board in general) will make you retarded.
>>
>>7738296
You'll only get positive feedback on ic because they see the innocence in you.

I loooovee the drawing I love love llove love love love it I looooveee it sooo much.

You'll never learn if you ignore the positive feedback because you think you only deserve the negative.

My advice is to get good at drawing on paper with pencil before you go to digital since most tablets are way more slippery than paper.

And stop tracing.
>>
>>7739271
Saw that but I also saw a lot of people posting for critique on the catalog as well so I decided to make a thread. Sorry if that wasn’t what you were supposed to do
>>
>>7739278
Thank you. Good critique. I’ve been hearing a lot about figure drawing needing to be improved so I bought the book another anon mentioned above.
Will think about clothing folds and detail. Need to work on that also.
It is a pretty bad mindset so thank you for the advice, I’ll keep it in mind heavily. You’re right, I could’ve been doing worse things but at least I made something
>>
>>7739278
Will do. Thank you. I’ll try to look into buying his books and go to those threads
>>7739514
I actually don’t enjoy drawing. This only reason why I completed this is because it was for my friend. I don’t find joy in it besides when I get paid. I don’t think positive feedback will help me grow. My tablet has a paper texture so the slippery feeling isn’t there. I’ll stop tracing
>>
>>7739348
Could you recommend specific titles from Loomis?
>>
>>7739855
Nevermind I’m retarded, just woke up, didn’t realize those were titles that you listed, thought you were just saying that
>>
>>7739856
Have you read the sticky?
>>
>>7739853
WHY are you drawing then if you hate it.
>>
>>7739859
I skimmed it but I probably should’ve read it more throughly, sorry
>>
>>7739860
It’s the only thing I’m able to do
