You don't have as much time as you think. The time between getting any professional work and having enough work to sustain you can easily be five to ten years. The time between having a professional portfolio and getting work can be easily be a year or more. The time between having professional skills and having a portfolio can easily be a year or two. Do you get what I'm saying? You don't appreciate how long it takes to get a career going even once your skills are at a professional level. You don't have time to fuck around if you're serious about this art thing. Nobody cares if your anatomy is perfect. Nobody cares if you can render a sphere flawlessly. You just need to know enough different things to make images people want to buy. That's it. Stop procrastinating with aimless "practice" and actually develop your entire skill set.
>>7739786TLDR; I dont have time to read all that.
>>7739786No time for that with a 60 hour work week + You're a scammer who is looking for more "reference". I'll just stick to what makes me happy.
>>7739816Is the scammer in the room with us right now?
>>7739786OP, Thanks for the kick in the ass.I've been thinking about this topic lately, that I don't have much time, I'm old, and I'm wasting my time learning about art theories, and doing practice instead of making actual art. It's a form of procrastination, just like entertainment.I'm at the age that everything feels pointless, money, career, marriage, none of that matters to me personally, and following my dreams is what keeps me truly alive.I have far too many regrets and I'm tired.
>>7739786>professional work>portfolioniggers these days are getting 5k+ a month scrawling actual shit. your industry shilling is pathetic. go back to fingering your network executives under the desk to get your own show bitch
>>773978675 years.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7dLbOVUnZw
>>7739930That's if you're lucky. 75 is just median life expectancy. Roughly half of people don't make it that long.
>>7739965Are you literally crabbing about lifespan too now? Wtf.
>>7739967It is what it is. One in eight Americans don't even reach 60.
>>7739786Op is right. Basically.
You will never have a professional art job. AI has rendered that career path obsolete. You can only draw for the pure love of it anymore. Draw for yourself.
>>7740024Art jobs are growing. AI is kinda overrated.
>>7740244You are welcome, my son.
>>7740024>draw for yourselfThatโs not human advice. All humans want their art to be seen by others.
>>7741166I'm not saying don't show anyone your work, of course you should do that. I'm just saying give up hope of making a career out of it
>>7740031>AI is kinda overratedIt's /biblically/ overrated
>>7739786It's already too late for me anyway. Once you are in your 30s and 40s you stop giving a fuck and just do what you want. For me this is just a hobby. If I someday manage to make money with it, then great, but it's not my goal. My goal is to draw nice stuff and have fun with it.
>>7741366>Once you are in your 30s and 40s you stop giving a fuck and just do what you wantThankfully I started doing that much earlier. I already have so many regrets I don't want more from simple inaction.
>>7741456I don't blame myself. My life was ruined from the start anyway. My only regret is getting born.
>>7741927I had a post starting a pissing contest about who had the worst childhood but I deleted it when I realized you might be ugly
>>7742038Such pissing contents are retarded anyway, because everyone feels about things differently.
>>7739786There is no career in art anyways. The biggest pros in the industry right now can barely hold short gigs at big studios like Marvel and Riot before being let go, and then be forced to shill online courses until the next gig comes along. There is no art career anymore. Just draw.
>>7742278Those are ultra competitive companies. The freelance scene is basically fine-ish.
>>7741927Don't say that shit.
>>7742455Anon, there are winners and losers in life. Sometimes we just have to accept that we're the latter.
>>7741927https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y983TDjoglQ
>>7742475Bullshit. Never attach such categories to yourself.
>>7739786I don't think I'll live much longer and I am fairly sure I have cancer. I am also losing my eyesight quickly. One of the few things I don't regret in this life is giving up on being a professional artist. I think it would've stripped me of my enjoyment of drawing. I just love drawing. There were times where I did not touch a pencil for a while but I always come back to it because it's truly the only thing that gives me joy and I can always rely on. Everything else is just some sort of dopamine drug thing that gives you a shallow buzz and you have to do it again and again. Art is truly the only thing I've found that edified me and brought me happiness.
>>7742318So why do those ultra competitive companies produce absolute slop? Marvel comics and movies look like dogshit and League just churns out run of the mill card art drawn by Koreans. The level of art output at those so-called top companies are slipping every month.
>>7744381This line of thinking is what lead to trannies
>>7744390Same here, honestly. Nothing beats the satisfaction of making something that literally never would have existed if you hadn't created it.
