does anyone else think that ghibli movies in general kindof suck? the art and atmosphere is insanelly good but the stories are filled with pointless characters and scenes that do nothing it the grand scheme of things

Ghibli movies overall are very good. They can filter people like OP though because the stories don't follow a standard plot setup.
I was really disappointed watching the boy and the heron in theatres. A bunch of the animations were nice, but things like the budgies seemed very lazy.The scene in the swamp with the spirits was very cool though.

Ghibli movies are incomprehensible for chronically online people. Short form content fried brains can't appreciate them. Touching grass is a must. They're not meant to feed you every little bit of information. Miyazaki worked on vibes and the idea that kids have enough imagination to not need everything chewed up for them.For a long time I didn't like Ponyo very much, then I had chubby little kids running around.
