Have anyone here actually gone through it? What are your thoughts on it? Did it help you get better?
It seems like it would do wonders to understand anatomy, proportions and foreshortening, but I get filtered by it whenever I try to go through the book (maybe im mentally deficient or retarded, who knows)

it's kind of an advanced book though, an easier but similar thing would be Michael Hampton's book for figure drawing. Give that one a try, and if you succeed then you can come back to Tom Fox

I watched his video course on Domestika, and read a bit of his book, the content is basically the same, it's just redundant to me, just too much fat in the book to say essentially the same thing.
It's a great course, and by extension great book but like this anon said >>7766022 it's not for total /beg/ you have to fill in with your own knowledge, and personally I couldn't go thru Hampton book or his CGMA video course, they're boring.

I did some studies from the book last year
it's fun, but I'd agree with the other anon and recommend it only after going through some easier material
I'll probably revisit it in a few years

those are pretty good anon

unironically one of the best anatomy/core skills/reference books i've ever purchased
it's basically hampton's book, but with a much more in-depth examination on the subtleties of the body and specifically representing it solely with line, all while still being digestible and easy to reference/flip between parts while doing studies

Wow, serendipity. I finally bit the bullet and ordered it the other night. I don't like his drawings, they kind of remind me of Shel Silverstein's drawings in a bad way, but he's a literal pro and there are some twitter artists I really like who swear by him, so I grabbed it. I'll let you know how I like it.

Tomfox can be used at any stages of level except absolute beginner (someone who's incapable of accurately measuring an image should stick with grid drawing first)
It's kind of like a Bridgeman book, were you read and draw the exercises, finish and come back to do it again as a refresher a few years later when you're substantially better at drawing.

It is, if nothing else, a very good reference book for how to break down anatomy at the absolute limit of construction. It's a good bridge between form purists like Vilppu and oversimplified stuff like Loomis.

i wanted to study from it but the planes filtered me
also paperback books are annoying to copy from compared to hardcover
>>
maybe i'm retarded but i don't get how to study from it
