I have a problem, I been trying my best to draw without my stuff turning into a copy.
Sucks ass that everytime I try to draw something original, it looks straight up horrible, nothing like the thousands of copies I have done

I tried all of the following:

1. Trying to stylize Irl reference by having only the irl and the art style ref images out

2. Trying to do things by memory , by looking at a reference, closing it, and then trying to do what I remember. I did this capturing only small bits of a style

3. Aped it: basically, just tried to copy as much as I could, this only helped me be faster at copying, didn't helped to build a mental library

4. Construction: tried to observe and build with 3d shapes, I only got robots that I couldn't get to look human like, still struggled with proportions

5. Anatomy: far more complex, realized I was only wasting my time, did it just for a short time since I couldn't understand anything, anatomy is not meant for a beg

6. Figure drawing: basically same as number 3, I did figure drawing while doing gestures tho.

6. Imagination drawing: forcing myself to make horrible art until I could get it to look right, probably the worst method of them all

I'm still doing my daily gesture with both irl and style reference, however, I been using irl reference for a whole year, so now I'm shifting to stylized reference, but I still struggle to draw ANY part of the body, even a damn torso, can barely do a decent body gesture. The image posted is another one of my copies slightly changed.

I guess I can really only stay as a perma beg, y'all got any solutions?

all that stuff is fine and all but just make thousands of shitty drawings from imagination, do studies and look up reference AFTER you see where you fucked up

I pity the retard that doesn't like anatomy

after you make something bad you have to study what went wrong. apply what you learn and try to fix your old pieces. repeat 100s of times.

Kinda tried that, the issue is the references, I took a long time trying to look for stuff to compare my imagination art and it didn't exactly worked since there was so many mistakes it was hard to make a starting point, I did tried to start with bodies and that's where I'm at now

I never said I didn't liked it, I moved on to anatomy too quick, I really wish I could move to anatomy so I could feel like a pro, but many have told me I'm stupid for not getting decent at mannequin posing first so idk what to think

see the outcome of your art as neutral, then observe it from a neutral lens. it doesn't matter if it looks bad- the quality says nothing about you- if you can properly see *why* its bad and how to fix it without thinking less of it then you'll improve faster.

keep doing #2 and limit the amount of time you have. once your time is up, critique it, think about what can be done better, then move on to the next drawing. try to notice patterns in your drawings and in the references. don't wallow about the quality, don't go back and change it, don't get frusterated, don't try something complicated, just move on and keep drawing.

when you notice that you are unmotivated when drawing something or you feel unprepared, draw that thing for a few days. employ the technique above and make it into something fun.

pick one thing. do it by a gut feeling. for bodies, start with one aspect of it (only torsos, only arms, etc). do that for two days, move on to the next thing.

Post your ref so we can clown on you properly for making a retarded thread like this

You cant learn how to draw by copying, you need to watch arbiterwolf's videos

If this pic here is one of those copies, then I have bad news for you. This looks pretty horrible too.
It just shows that you have no idea what you're doing. Just copying things without having an understanding of fundamental principles makes your stuff look wrong. You need to study perspective (foreshortening) and anatomy in order for your art to have more depth. This is what you're missing the most.

Looks alright for a sketch (I assume). You should have redlined if you knew what you were talking about
