Upon someone else "discovering" a fetishistic aspect about their work they get all bashful and try to deny it completely. ("Ha, you like tall mommy types, dude why are her ankles so detailed lmao") I showed a guy friend my art and he tried to turn it into a "gotcha moment" and he "accused" me of liking feminine-looking males. For example, a lot of children's media has 'furries', or really, just talking animals. No one is watching Bluey or Rupert Bear and thinking about how those have a sexual energy to them.Meanwhile, even if a furry makes some media, even if there is nothing sexual about it, you can just tell through the tone and energy of it that there's something fetishistic about the work. It might be a lack of innocence perhaps?Children's media characters don't pay bills, have black and white morals, can solve everything with simple solutions, they're not glass half full worlds - the glass IS full. Meanwhile a furry's piece of media has character that pay their bills and taxes, probably strained relationship from social fauxpas, mental illnesses... and the characters fuck... none of these things may be depicted, but that level of maturity is.So like I said, it's a lack of innocence - but this is all me just brain storming here.
