basically im working on a comic that is my life cope >"when i finish this, everything will be ok"things arent ok, I haven't drawn in weeks and I tried today but my motivation was zero so I gave up. It takes me too long to just complete a few pages and some people can do all that in just a few months. Right now i only have 32 pages which vary in quality, I have some real shitty pages im not proud of but I can't re-do it because i'll be stuck forever. sigh, I feel so dejected and depressed
I know that feeling, but shame is the enemy and an antithesis of a artist's survival instinct.
>>7913925let go of it now before you kill yourself. Putting all your self worth into one long shot is a recipe for disaster.
>>7913925>i only have 32 pages32 pages is a lot for your first comic. I actually would just keep it to about 20 pages for your first story. One of the main mistakes of beginner comic artists is that they try to draw some epic long story, when in reality you learn much more by just drawing a few short stories first.I wish I had the endurance to draw 32 comic pages tho. I probably have even less motivation than you.

>>791397032 one sided A4 pages, which I worked on since the beginning of 2025. In a printed book its actually just 16 pages. It is actually mostly a collection of cartoons and stories though. We both have zero motivation
>>7913967literally can't, I don't wanna kill myself and this is basically my one true cope >>7913927what do you mean by shame?
>>791397632 pages is 32 pages, it doesn't matter if it's on 16 or 32 sheets, a page is one face of a sheet
>>7913977by "let go" I mean be okay with it sucking. It doesn't have to pass a threshhold of quality to be worth it. And you need to accept that probably very few people will read it.
>>7913976>32 one sided A4 pages, which I worked on since the beginning of 2025.That#s a good pace for a beginner. You shouldn't be too hard on yourself. Drawing comics is very very difficult. Even really good artists struggle with comics, because you also need to know how to write and combine writing with drawing.
>>7914001It's the volume of drawing that you have to do that makes it hard, even for the good artists, because many artists, even professionals don't practice economy and speed at that level. A lot of people are good only because they spend countless hours polishing a single piece, that doesn't work so well in comics.
>>7914015Comics are hard for many reasons, but the writing aspect is a big reason for it too. That's why even just drawing a decent 20 page comic is hard, because you actually need to know how to tell an interesting story in 20 pages and how to translate that into panels
>>7913925There are lots of illustrated story types that are not as exhausting as comics. Pretty much any text to drawing ratio you feel comfortable with.Pic was one of my favorites as a kid.
>>7913925Where do you post your comic? Can I read it?
>>7914280i don't have it posted anywhere, should I post an uncompleted comic?
You're not working on anything, frogposter. You might fool some of these clowns, but not me.
>>7914493why would i lie about being a loser just coping by >once i finish I'll be able to post it online and sell printed copies and hopefully even make a living from it
I've drawn hundreds of pages and posted them and still gotten nowhere. It doesn't get better. Either give up now or embrace the pain.
>>7913925maybe you shouldn't place your happiness on external results that are way far off in the future.Just decide to be happy, anon.
