>just study Xwhat the fuck does that even mean? what am i supposed to do? copy it 100 times? watch a youtube tutorial? buy some course? read a 300 pages long artbook? im retarded and i dont know what people mean by studying art.
>>7921926depends on what you are studying, different subjects will benefit from different methods.plus what works for you personally is subjective.these videos cover studying art in general https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kfK46nruKMhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EefqA7epQzk
>>7921927>these videos cover studying art in general thanks will watch them. I want to learn to draw heads. I kind of stagnated for the past 7 months doing nothing but 60 gestures per day and calling it a day (no they are not good, because i know shit about the human body). So it would be nice to break the cycle and finally learn something new
>WHAT DO I DO GOOGLE IT? ASK SOMEONE? TRY TO FIGURE IT OUT? >IM GOING INSAAAAAAAAANE AHHHHHa lot of the younger people on this site genuinely suffer from low agency because theyre inside on the computer all day. how do you people do anything
>>7921930>on the computer all dayjust say you missed out on growing up with an ipad and move on unc.

>>7921942that's because you don't know the answer
>>7921926Go to twitter dot com and look at every post on the site very carefully. Done.
to study in art means to draw something shitty, LOOK at it, OBSERVE how shitty it is, THINK about why its shitty, and then draw another slightly less shitty thing. It physically hurts to stare at your failure you worked hard on and try to convince yourself you can fix it. That's why drawing is still the hardest thing in the world. You've got people who can study to become doxtors and lawyers but IQ wise they're still sub 80 and all they know how to do is memorize facts given to them by a higher authority. Art is not like that. There is no objective truth you can just remember and believe in. You have to first FAIL many times and then make incremental improvements as you change yourself.
>>7921926>>7921942I know the answer and I WILL tell anons who are strugglingwarmups:>blind contours>gesture studies>negative space drawing + envelope method>drawing upside down/flipping the canvasstudy:>draw from memory>find references, then trace them and break them down into shapes and forms>put references away and draw from memory, then take out references and draw while looking at them (repeat the process)play: >when not studying, just draw...anything you want!
>>7921929Let's say you want to learn heads, here's what you do:>grab a few references>do some blind contours and gesture studies of these refs, you want to prepare yourself by just drawing what you see, regardless of how messy it is>1 - get a butt load of head references and get a prop or model of a head to use as a live reference>2 - break down the references into shapes and forms>3- observe, then put the references away and draw from memory>4- pull out the reference and draw while looking at itRepeat steps 3 and 4 until you are satisfied. You will also need to study the skull, so make sure to do that.
