Who is your favourite artist from the golden age of illustration (roughly 1880-1930)
>>7927778Bernard Partridge He's not the best, but I find it interesting he made political cartoons that DIDN'T rely on physical caricature to work, he just draws historical figures as they are with so much character, even if he hates them.
leyendecker. I liked him before he was cool
I'd say the golden age went on a bit longer, perhaps into the 50's, but I digress...McClelland Barclay is pretty cool, I dig the thick outlined look his art tends to have.
>>7927803Also I adore Enoch Boles, who has this very geometric look to his art - much like layendecker does.I just wish Boles' drew more men, as their portfolio is almost entirely women (being a pinup artist and all).
He is later than the 1930's but my favorite illustrator is Ferenc Pinter.
