>3 books that helped youColor and Light by James GurneyGod is a Man of War by Fr. Stephen De YoungOrthodoxy and the Religion of the Future by Fr. Seraphim Rose>Your study processIf studying from life or photo I construct it via envelope, lay down a flat mid tone, layer in shadows, work out the values and add highlights last. If I'm creating from imagination I make a series of thumbnail compositions, flesh out the ones I like then continue as above. >How long have you been seriously drawing forSerious as in having a passion for creating art? As early as I can remember.

>>7934594>3 books that helped youHuman Anatomy For Artists by Xiao WeichunHonestly haven't read much else relating to art, the first chapter of Vilppu, Bridgman, Loomis and Hampton I guess.More helpful were:Design Theory and Art Theory videos by SinixPainting and Color videos by Marco Bucci>Your study processSince the subject of most of my study is people, both in photo studies and master studies, I usually start with constructing the reference. Even for gesture I try to at least consider form before even shape, though I've been able to incorporate shape more the better I get at forms. For other studies like landscapes I tend to start shapes first.More generally I always try to question my methods and try new things. Other than that it's just doing things over and over again.>How long you've been seriously drawing forA little under 1.5 years I guess. A month or two more if you want to count the times I tried following drawabox or some other plan for a week and didn't touch a pen again for a year or more
>>7936845Oh, and maybe one thing i forgot for study process:Drawing something alongside people that are better than you and being able to compare your and their study of the same thing helps a lot. Probably most common with figure drawing, but I bet there's events or stuff for other things as well
