Would you consider 70s and 80s comic book art realistic in comparison to anime?

It's a little more "realistic" while still being obviously cartoony, yeah.
And? Is this the start of another east vs west argument?

Neal Adams is more naturalistic than Toriyama. Giraud's Blueberry is more realistic than his Moebius work. Ryoichi ikegami draws more naturalistic than Albert Uderzo. John Romita is more realistic than Jack Kirby. And so on. Why does this matter? I hate east vs west culture war sportsball retards so much it's unreal.

>sportsball mentioned
Insecure nerd detected.

The post the gravely insulted and wounded sports fan responds to only mocks the phenomenon of making literally everything including culture into a "team sport" (the term is used proverbially here). The post he responded to mocks those persons who engage in culture wars and don't care for the culture itself. No offense was meant for those who enjoy athletics.

For the most part, yeah?... Why?

Even though I like anime and manga I've always argued that Western stuff has better character writing because a lot of the time characters in anime/manga feel like stereotypes or just reactors, I've made a joke before that Hey Arnold has deeper characters than an high school anime but it's true you know them as people more like I know Bruce Banner inside and out I don't know most anime characters like that exceptions aside, I don't know like Goku on that level where I can guess what music he listen to or what opinions he might have. I guess it's a cultural thing cuz JPs are very NPC and closed off while Americans are open.

Why is She Hulk so erotic?

1970s 80s American comics are definitely what I would study If I started with Hogarth and Loomis.
American comic books definitely is the top employer of artists until 1990s. Shame how it crashed.

The opposite is true. Comics are stale because the characters are double the age of their decrepit fan-base. A simulacrum of a simulation. You can only kill Superman so many fucking times before you bring him back next week.
