Iran is doing surprisingly well. They embrace asymmetrical warfare and have achieved the primary leverage they always claimed, keeping the strait closed.

If your definition of well is to be an inconvenience while getting bombed back to the stone age, then sure.

It isn't though. Just because less ships are going through it due to the odd Iranian missile doesn't mean it's formally closed. Iran is losing its ability to exert power of the straight too.

except this isn't the taliban, iran is a state. a state ceases to function when you don't have things like running water, electricity or weapons to fight your war with.
it's like saying hitler is winning because he still has troops in berlin, also he's dead but the markets are still reacting negatively, so germany is doing really well actually.

https://www.marinevesseltraffic.com/HORMUZ-STRAIT/ship-traffic-tracker
The only ships that have passed the strait have been Iranian ships themselves and a handful of others testing the waters in the first day or two. Normally hundreds of ships pass through every day.
You're a medically diagnosable retard in for the shock of your life when markets open and the longer this drags out.

Kek no. If anything the happenings in Venezuela have shown the opposite, they haven't been able to cope without Venezuelan oil yet.
>>
>>219793264
Kek

So you are saying the goal now is to destroy all the civilian infrastructure in iran to inflict maximum pain on the civilian population?

You are aware they sanctioned irans ability to bank months ago resulting in the hyperinflation that caused the unrest? The plan was always regime change and that failed.

The goalpost has been moved. If iran can endure they will inflict trillions of dollars worth of economic loss on the world. That is their stated strategy and exactly what they are doing.

You can destroy a nation without a problem, the thing is what is the cost of doung so.
>>219793212
Strait of hormuz is closed, this is not subjective you lying cunt
>>
>>219793310
I said there were less ships. Your own source shows that, and there are plenty of ships on the approaches to the strait. Ships are understandably hesitant to go through, and do so quickly. You make it seem like Iran is blocking the straight (which they can't because their navy is gone)
> when markets open
Markets have been open for a week and again, nothing crazy has happened. Why would I expect everything to collapse over the weekend, especially when the US has had overwhelming military success in these past couple days?
>>
>>219793324
maduro had a personal guard of cuban mercenaries and their intelligence apparatus was reportedly cuban
i don't understand what part of what happened recently is evidence to the contrary. they were co-dependent and venezuela is a big part of the drug trade.
>>219793337
>So you are saying the goal now is to destroy all the civilian infrastructure in iran to inflict maximum pain on the civilian population?
The civilian population drinks water and uses electricity like the government does, they also staff the latter. Any damage to infrastructure threatens the ability of the government to function and exist.
>You are aware they sanctioned irans ability to bank months ago resulting in the hyperinflation that caused the unrest
yes but don't pretend this is the first time they've had any unrest
>the thing is what is the cost of doung so.
The destruction of your enemies is mostly beneficial. Only downside is you have to endure the lamentations of their supporters.
>That is their stated strategy and exactly what they are doing.
Good luck doing this as the country collapses.

No shit sherloc, it will also cause a massive humanitarian catastrophe, something nations like ours tend to think is bad
>yes but don't pretend this is the first time they've had any unrest
You are aware the primary strikes targeted irgc almost exclusively because the goal was regime change? Not inflicting mass pain on the civilian population they wanted to have revolt?
>The destruction of your enemies is mostly beneficial. Only downside is you have to endure the lamentations of their supporters.
Oh eat a dick you retard. Im a trader not a supporter of iran and you are clueless about this shit and it's blatant. You think it's worth it at any cost? Are you aware how many people in the world starve to death when oil prices rise significantly? Irans goals is to force a price so high the us is forced to back off, aka raising the oil price and causing a worldwide recession

Fuck you for veing so dimwitted you think i support iran because i maintain critical thought jfc
>>
>>219793451
>Navy and insurance
Iran has not destroyed any US ships, unless you are referring to hitting a few random tankers with drones. Also insurance definitely covers stuff like this, do you think this war came out of nowhere? It has been years in the making at minimum, and everyone saw the same military buildup. You also make it sound like Iran losing their entire navy in a week is an inconvenience lol, that's the kinda stuff that costs wars.
>Oil price
The oil price has gone up a bit, but compare that with the OPEC oil crisis where oil went up like 5-fold, this is manageable. I believe the price will go back down, but obviously I'm not a clairvoyant, so I will eat my words if that doesn't happen.

don't care what you think because your shit's retarded. allies did this during world war II but now it's le bad, only your enemies get to do it? absurd.
>You are aware the primary strikes targeted irgc almost exclusively because the goal was regime change?
yes and that didn't work. we're in the dismantling the whole country so they cease to be a threat stage.
>Im a trader not a supporter of iran
my trading tip is that you should just adjust your portfolio for WWIII, it will happen once china does something.
>>
>>219793523

Dude this is the entire point. Insurance is not being sold right now because if the extreme risk.

> also make it sound like Iran losing their entire navy in a week is an inconvenience lol, that's the kinda stuff that costs wars.

Oh please retard. That was fully anticipated by every analyst and their navy was dogshit.

The fact is they are inflicting a price and maintaing the ability to do so. Iran is a shithole country, their airforce is ancient, their ships are museum pieces.

Nobody gives a fuck about their conventional forces. The united states is lightyears ahead if them. This was always goung to ve a turkey shoot, the problem is that after a week of fighting they are still able to inflict cost on us all.

>The oil price has gone up a bit
Its gone up 40%. Qatari analysts predict it might it a 150 bucks if iran keeps the strait closed with their drones and every creative terrorist tier thing they can think of.

If that happens the world will go into a recession. People lose their livelyhoods, price of commodities skyrocket

Oil runs planet earth.
>>
>>219792234
In what universe is the US being humiliated in Iran?
>>
>>219793536
>Oh you are fucking retarded. You think it was worth it removing saddam the way we did?
I have no strong feelings one way or another. I'll just say the country will be better off now, if the iranian influence is eliminated. It's still slightly better than it used to be.
>you have no clue what the cost of these wars actually are you just assume their good and you cant explain why
wars aren't good but it's even worse to lose them. iran and israel weren't at peace, they were attacking eachother through proxies and covert ops. some kind of escalation as they built up stockpiles and became more advanced became inevitable, more so as iran started to aid russia.
>>
>>219793564
>don't care what you think because your shit's retarded. allies did this during world war II but now it's le bad, only your enemies get to do it? absurd

Yes what an amazing strategy for a war that out of necessity right? You see this from a perspective that is so utterly retarded, iran was not an existential threat like japanese or germans during ww3 jfc
>my trading tip is that you should just adjust your portfolio for WWIII, it will happen once china does something.

Oh please. China bought 90% of irans crude this is them getting royally cucked and they didn't have the ability to help uran

The absolute state of brownoids on 4chins
>>
>>219793601
Well again, I agree that speed is of the utmost importance. But I still don't think a week is a long enough time to make any determined judgements. If this war drags out for a month or longer I will change my mind. I also believe a lot of the cost of oil has been priced in. It really comes up to how determined the Iranian leadership (whatever is left of it) to keep fighting. Personally, I think the CIA is extremely adept at their job, and they almost certainly have a person or group of people with whom to negotiate with. Trump's promise of immunity (if truthful), must certainly sound enticing to some generals or higher-ups.
>>
>>219793641
>I'll just say the country will be better off now
And you base that on absolutely nothing
>wars aren't good but it's even worse to lose them. iran and israel weren't at peace, they were attacking eachother through proxies and covert ops. some kind of escalation as they built up stockpiles and became more advanced became inevitable, more so as iran started to aid russia.

No shit, do you think the proxy wars in syria was fought cleanly by either side?

Iran was a fucking menace. Just like israel is for a fuckton of Nations. Do you even know how this war started? Israel told the us it was going to assasinate the ayatollah wether the us wanted it to or not, pro tip the us was against martyring the ayatollah, israel forced the us to go balls deep with no time to prepare the region properly and commit to what it called a preemptive strike to take out irans ability to hit its bases as payback for assasinating their leader. Thats how this shitfest got started a week ago. And so far the us has suffered causalities it never would have in a properly prepared scenario.
>>
>>219793646
>iran was not an existential threat like japanese or germans during ww3 jfc
they would be to israel given a few more years. their tech and stockpiles were getting there.
>China bought 90% of irans crude this is them getting royally cucked
which is another reason to take out iran right now. if china attacks taiwan in the near future, they can get choked on oil.
>>

Marge
>>

>>219793699
>they would be to israel given a few more years. their tech and stockpiles were getting there.
Israel has said this for 40 fucking years.
>which is another reason to take out iran right now. if china attacks taiwan in the near future, they can get choked on oil.
Not how supply and demand for oil works. And China won't touch taiwan, that would mean global capital exits china instantly. Just because there is massive fear mongering about chinas military risecand the goal of 2027 dors not mean china is prepared to tank its economy for an island it loves to despise..
>>
>>219793653
You know why oil jumped so much? Because nobody believed the us would be fucking dumb enough to let israel assasinate the ayatollah and plunge Iran into an existential fight.

The us had nowhere near the necessary assets in theatre. Hence why this shitshow has gone down the way it has. Thevus is speed running another carrier to the region and is moving interceptor assets out of deployment in indopacom to centcom.

You people have no idea what a clusterfuck this really is. When markets open on monday jfc
