One of the things that amazes me about Japan is, for a country that's so health-and-safety conscious, they sure do have a lot of open rail line, >>46563996 is a great example. Hell, didn't our main station have an open area right next to the footbath until recently?
>>46568062Is that something strange? How would the scene in the post you quoted look like in your country?
>>46568134All completely fenced off and covered in "no trespassing!" signs, even in the country. In urban areas, it would be fences with rags hanging from razor wire, high walls covered in graffiti, litter and furniture dumped along the line, etc.
>>46568062Wait, what, when that additional space built? I completely missed it.>>46568425It often is. Especially if we are talking about train going through a city. Even here, just a bit down the line after Yunokami you can see somewhat of an effort to fence it.
>>46568501That was built last year, started construction in November and finished by January.
>>46568062There's really not much you can do to stop people or things getting into rail lines unless you do something like the Shinkansen where the majority of it is built off the ground and has gated access.>>46568501It's kinda fenced of there only because there's a road parallel to the rail and you don't want vehicles or people just drifting into danger. The contrast to before is that there is no road running parallel to that line, so there's basically no reason for any people being close to the line unless they try to be, in which case see above.
>>46568425>high walls covered in graffiti, litter and furniture dumped along the line, etc.Don't forget the enticing smell of urine.

>>46571829
>>46568501>It often is. Especially if we are talking about train going through a city.I watch Rambalac videos, and more often than not when he is walking by a railway line in a major city like Tokyo or Saitama, the fences are just waist-height at best, nothing like the security (or filth) around my place.
>>46575528There are high ones in many places around here, so I don't know. Except if you don't consider this one high enough either? Admittedly it should be easy to jump over. Then we just have different standards. There are certainly some places with lower ones, but I don't think I have seen much of that (if at all) in the city. Maybe just my luck. That said maybe people in Japan just aren't that stupid to randomly get in? Suicides happen inside the stations for a reason.
Why does the station in the title not even get posted, and what's so special about the yu no kami station?

The trees are starting to blossom.
>>46584028You could see the buds starting to open yesterday, but the bitrate wasn't quite high enough to really clearly tell.
>>46575613>Except if you don't consider this one high enough either? Those would the type you would see in our countryside, the bare minimum security to keep people out. I certainly don't see the likes of https://youtu.be/7hjg4Zr8MR4?feature=shared&t=1710orhttps://youtu.be/HFarQczb6Bo?feature=shared&t=3365where you can so easily go onto the tracks, especially in major cities.>Suicides happen inside the stations for a reason.Lol, yeah it's strange, in Japan you can so easily go onto the tracks outside stations yet have huge barriers in stations, but in my country the tracks are completely fenced off yet the stations are exposed with narrow platforms.
>>46591494Is that some special train or why are there so many people taking photos?
There was a mascot on the viewing platform, I've not seen one before on camera.>>46591524Yeah, the blue train (Oza Toro) usually only stops on weekends, and the blossoms brought out more people than usual. Overall there were a lot of visitors today.

>>46545852It has struggling recently with what life is delivering. I will also add that from the right of the Hiroshima port live camera a whole heap of military assets are kept! I've been on harbour cruises of both Yokosuka & Kure and I honestly felt like their was a lot more military hardware at Kure. It's unlikely we'll see any on camera though as the camera is situated in the early section of the port, the military vehicles park and exit from the right of the camera, further up stream
>>46596728Probably just as well as it is illegal in most countries tor record military bases. Aslo, lol at the Japanese navy still using the empire flag.
>>46597374I doubt that's the reason, satellites and marine traffic would have them anyway most likely. It's just the camera is where the camera is.>>46597374This has never changed for the army, navy etc. Only the country flag changed.

It's actually insane the entire thread has been posting of the same old trains at the same old stations and ignoring Hanami. It's also insane there is no crossover with the Japan TRV thread which moves the fastest on the TRV board of which I've met heaps of people, anyways. Guess we really lack the numbers.
At minimum a probable merge with the photography or views of Japan thread is probably needed. We absolutely don't survive now, or exist on our two feet because we have a community, we exist because of one person our dedicated OP but when he's not on the ball and I've seen it we just don't exist, don't get our thread made, get pushed off etc etc

>>46529153Can you tell me some interesting facts about trains in Japan or their railway system?
>>46633253When someone jumps and gets isekaied, the official info they give you for the trains running late is "personal injury".
>>46633281Are passengers typically aware that “personal injury” is referring to death or is that mostly a secret?
>>46633439If I was able to figure it out, I am sure people that were born here understand it too.Technically injuries do happen. Drunk people or simple accidents leading to someone being hurt happens. Think once trains got delayed around 10 minutes because of some drunk dude getting partially by the doors. His bag or whatever. Despite being fixed fairly quickly, it took them a while to proceed.
>>46633453Forgot to mention my point, in case it was not obvious. Basically saying it is a "personal injury" adds some ambiguity to it. It might not be a suicide. Though in my experience, usually is.
>>46633453Based. Thank you for sharing some of your train knowledge
>>46633453partially stuck*I guess it was obvious, though.>>46633466Here is some more knowledge.Somebody can correct me if I am wrong, it has been over 3 years, but I believe the Yunokami train is technically a one man train? Couldn't use my IC train card back then, so I had to buy an actual physical ticket. Didn't realize that until a conductor showed up. The one time ever that I saw conductor (until my first shinkansen and for some reason a train in Shikoku). Not sure if the Yunokami train was actually labelled as a "one man" train. Obviously wasn't though. There are one man trains in areas without IC card viability without conductors. You just show your ticket to the people at the station.
>>46633615There are also the traditional one man cars. There you have to enter in the back, pick a "number ticket", when you exit in the front you can see the fare related to your number on a display and have to put the money in an automata or give it to the driver.

I have 22-ish vhs tapes of japanese trains and train travel that i'm digitizing right now. you can look at one i've already uploaded here.https://archive.org/details/my-great-game-my-great-capture-2024-03-12-22-09-26I need someone to help translate the boxes and titles for me so I can put them in the descriptions and video titles.I'll digitize more stuff for you for free if you send me the tapes btw, i have an S-VHS deck and a ton of high end equipment. i'd buy more but desu i dont really want any of these (i dont care about trains i just saw they were cheap and thought it was a good idea, it wasn't) and the shipping from japan to the US is extreme on VHS (its like $5 a tape).
>>46646390I am a bit confused. Seems like you already translated them by yourself? You can easily scan them with a smartphone and get a translation or just copy paste the kanji into google maps if you don't trust the google translation of the lines.
