I think they started doing it because players complained about the very difficult to roll outfits not coming with scenes. Since these scene-less outfits coincided with the girl becoming playable, you were technically unlocking their affection scenes, and they didn't prepare a scene for the outfit.
So for example, collab girls usually didn't have an outfit scene but will get one if they do a swimsuit release later - which also unlocks their affection scenes as you're unlocking the girl if you didn't already have her. This is also why the event reward is typically an SR for someone else that's common, or in this case, a Jammer.

It's in the items menu(inaccessible if you have units grinding anything). Anyways, they've massively streamlined gear grinding with the crystals that drop from very hard main story x-5 nodes which can just buy gears for limit breaking as well as some gems you should grab per month. Limit breaking gears isn't particularly a resource you have to be conservative with due to this.

They gave her a new gauge system which changes her EX 2. She gets one bar every time she uses an EX skill. She'll automatically use it if you go for EX 2
EX 2+: Destroys Barrier / 3000% total (equip) damage AoE / Buffs Light allies ATK up to +405%(equip) / Notes +7 to Light allies

Dunno why they removed the Critical rate up portion of the skill for EX 2+ but ok.

Also, is negative stamina just something I have to deal with or is my account bugged. Never happened to me when I previously played but I went from full stamina to negative after doing 1 stage since coming back. Playing on the browser forces me to use a refill even though I can repeat afterwards. Playing on mobile doesn't but the display is still negative. Doing Detached Duty also adds like 16 hours when I start, but it could just be a display issue like everything else.

Most limited characters have 50 gears available for casino chips if you really need to save though you should get Eclipse Equipment first. In any case, if you really need to prioritize

I've been mainly avoiding non-element and characters without link skills, though some seem to have somewhat useful passives for the latter. Some wasted resources from when I didn't care about the game previously. Only have a single character with dual element and it was a character from the pick and choose banner - mostly guestimated picks based on what I understand about game mechanics. Didn't check every character though since I figured the newer ones generally have better kits. I only checked the banner status of those picks after the fact and only 3/4 of them was on a previous limited banner. Most of the archetypes you mentioned are non existant in my roster. From the sound of it, spamming elemental bursts every attack is meta? I have an okayish team with the collab characters atm but I just finished the story 60 skip. Had to manual for some bosses to bruteforce resist. Maining just farming event for hearts and to level my base stats unless there's a better way.

Yep. you basically build parties for every combo of element as elemental bursts do by far more damage than anything else in the game. Late game, enemies also start having either really high physical or magical defense which heavily mitigate elemental burst so you basically need every element combo in both physical/magical separately.

I wouldn't worry too much honestly as Mist Train Girls is a slow burn grind game in which you slowly build up your roster to make all these teams.

You can individually raise SP costs back to whatever else they could've costed after upgrading them in the party menu. On browser, it's a button on each character whereas on phone, it's like above the party members somewhere. It has SP on it in any case. And yeah, for auto tactics like your Columbia case it's quite normal to intentionally raise the 3rd skill back up so they don't use it on auto so you can precisely rotate the lower cost skills. The main reason to use 10 SP skills is for their permanent link skill buffs in longer battles provided they have permanent buffs. But if you don't, then tailoring the rotation to finish the battle as fast as possible is what most people generally do. The most well-known character for instant farming is Dr. Gloria who just completely ignores link skill conditions and has infinite SP if she's in position 5.

Oh so that's what that sp in the corner was for. Didn't realize I could tap it. There's also been something else I've been wondering. How are total stats calculated for the purpose of stat tuning (abilities that target the highest atk/spd). My first assumption is that all modifiers work on their base stats, but there have been a couple of games where they make the distinction between out of battle stats and in-battle stats, so the question is, are buffs multiplied against your total paper stats or base stats? Also, are all damage dealing modifiers additive with each other and multiplicative with both attack and condition? Can't find much information on numbers, especially when the game itself also obscures half of the modifiers with small/med/large. My experience with games that do that is that those modifiers are variable and not consistent (two different 'med' with different values).

I believe it's final stat total after buffs and that formation buffs affect base stats as formation buffs are hugely relevant for tuning/targeting. You can see final in-battle base stats after equipment/formation from the party screen somewhere. In any case, I don't think this is a particularly difficult issue as most of the time, you just put the unit you want targeted in the formation slot that boosts those numbers the most.

See, that's the funny thing about using Maki and another buffer that targets highest speed. Depending on which link skills get activated, I have characters going in 3 different orders in each wave, so it also depends on how many enemies get killed so that a queued skill doesnt fire. I believe all link skill buffs are applied before actions but I'm not sure what priority Maki has compared to other buffers if any since they have a speed buff which should affect the targeting of other buffs? Unless of course, this is all done at the same time and my first acting character didn't actually receive the "highest speed" buff. The second highest attack character in my team will go first on wave one, so it's hard to see what thresholds I need for specific tunes. Or I can just drop Maki when I pull someone better.

Base on what I understand from that link. It seems like there are only 2 main brackets of multipliers within your control. Damage and attack. Enemy defense was mentioned as a third but it's the same multiplier as attack since defense is subtracted from attack before modifiers similar to another game I've played. Defense penetration is basically an attack buff that scales with enemy defense. Ignoring 50% defense from an enemy with 8000 defense is effectively +4000 attack. So the optimization route will largely depend on the enemies you're fighting. More damage% is better for low defense enemies, while more atk% is better for high defense. Attack buffs in battle seem to work off BASE stats (base * layer%).

I also looked up elemental bursts. Seems like it's only affected by elemental burst modifiers and atk/dmg buffs do not affect the damage at all. It uses the layer's base stats + weapon attack subtracted by 2/3 of the enemy defense as its base value, which mean they deal very little damage around 5000 def and close to no damage at 6000 def (<4000atk is zero, but their conclusion was based on sep 2022 gear/enemies). The damage rank of the skill doesnt affect the damage but the proficiency does.

Linked skill buffs are applied upon turn start yeah and don't require the skill to actually fire. Priority within that moment, I have no fucking clue, but I would imagine link skill activation buffs are also applied in the speed order of the original turn. Alternatively, it could be in formation order. Another way to tune speed is armor equipment level. Armor also affects speed so giving a unit unleveled armor compared to the rest of the party or one unit leveled armor and the rest unleveled is another way to manage speed.

Regarding elemental burst, enemies start having 5k differentials between their physical and magic defense really necessitating a dedicated physical/magical split for your DPS. It's most obvious in Extreme Magic Arms farming where the stages are essentially split between high physical or high magical defense enemies who are essentially immune to element burst of the wrong type.

Permanent buffs that only trigger on the first activation means you don't want your characters to die right? I noticed that characters lose the buffs when revived and I don't think they can retrigger their 10sp for themselves nor get the stat boosts again from others.

At this point, I think I'm solidly early endgame now? Managed to clear battle fes, the first Iwato, 40F tower, in that order. Current at 94-5 VH in story. I'm not seeing many avenues for my team to get much stronger than they currently are. Harder Iwatos just nuke or cc my team too much so I guess I either need to fully spec to counter each fight or cheese with status effects. Got some of the VH weapons with the element boost but I haven't farmed for armor/acc yet. Saw a gif on the jp wiki with a character doing a 3m skill and 7m elemental burst which is probably out of possibility for me.

I've only done 130 pulls on collab and 100 on the selector gacha with gems and the rest was from free tickets. In hindsight, I could have probably picked better choices for the selector gacha but I didn't really care too much at that time. The newer characters seemed to be at the top of the list and I just went with the first 4 whose kit seemed interesting to me with my lack of information. The choices ended up being Tayshet, Columbia, Karamasu, and Salekhard. I think I lucked out with Tayshet since she ended up being my main carry(and cut type). Isogiku carried me early game but I found her damage lacking when fights started having a time constraint due to aoe nukes wiping my team fast. Salekhard on the other hand, was more niche that I expected. I thought the free SP would be nice but without good supporters she can't really do much on her own, and can't hard carry off element content. I use Columbia more than Karamasu but not sure who I should give the LB1 to.

You picked strong units. And yeah, DPS can't truly shine without a proper team to back them up. Which is why top tier supporters are more of a priority. The thing about SP recovery is even if a unit can fire every turn, it doesn't matter if your other units aren't also firing skills so they can trigger elemental burst every turn as well. Salekhard is very strong, but she's not going to shine without a good magic team which is what I'm guessing you're lacking. Sports Karamasu is considered hyper top tier, so it really sounds like the case if you're not using her that much.

Regarding hyper experience boosts, there's an argument to be made to sell it all as you can buy limited step-up ticket fragments with the currency you get from them. Every so often they release training camp events which can let you farm 14 million experience per full offline AP bar when fully optimized which you can hyper grind to 100. Unit stats cap at a bit above 21.1k when farming 98-5 VH, however, layers can grow a bit higher in their specialized stats meaning you can get a bit more stats from swapping to their lower rarity versions as they usually have different specialized stats(as indicated by the arrows).

Dying is pretty much a winning/losing thing. You shouldn't be dying at all in most content. Until you are. In which case you start adding one of the permanent recovery units to your end-game team when simply giving everybody heal on damage equipment isn't enough.

One of them is basically hard required for Iwato 4 and some people used 2 of them in their winning teams, but Iwato 5 was designed to counter them as it has a healing damages you phase making their auto-recovery backfire. Ideally, when you start taking casualties and need to use your revives, you're close to finishing the fight, but a lot of the time, dying snowballs to your total defeat. Iwato is the truest endgame right now, so don't sweat it not beating the highest levels as they do require very well built teams, specialized equipment, etc. Iwato 2 and 3 can be nuked through if you've got really good DPS, but Iwato 4 is when you need a tanking and healing setup that can survive.

Oh, didn't realize this was a thing. I actually sacc'd on the selector and got 5 Tayshets before I pulled one of everyone, and took her to 100 immediately. Just checked the step-up banners and sadly, they're all on step 2 and I still own none of the SSRs. Just exchanged some and won one 50% but lost the other. Got Whisper. Guess there's my cheese option if any boss doesn't have paralysis immunity.

Other than grinding my other characters' base stats up, is it only utimate weapon grind and main/sub story mats for monthly shop where I should be using most of my stamina (besides VH gear)? Not sure which stage is the best place to farm for the VH shop mats. The stage I can clear the fastest for more runs?

Generally, if you have nothing else to farm(like equipment jewels) and event shops are bought, you throw stamina at main story/side story, yeah. Unless you somehow have no event stamina potions in which case you farm events for stamina. However we got 20k potions for some random issue, so I don't imagine that will be an issue for the next month. You get every ultimate weapon to level 9 pretty quickly when you're able to farm the last stages as well.

I wouldn't really worry too much about efficiency, whatever you can comfortably farm quickly is fine. You'll probably make a quick setup for 98-5 or whatever is the latest stage is, but in the end, you'll eventually have more crystals than you need, so farming it becomes more of something you do just because you want to grind up new layers which is when you develop a carry duo so you can farm the rest of the team up.

As you said, you're essentially in endgame if you can finish the tower/battle festival/events. The only other thing to aim for is building up your parties and Iwato. Iwato however is a big jump and also kind of a roster check.

Cleared the new tower in Legeclo. Future Takeru with that purple zodiac armor that gives +30% damage reduction is able to clear levels by herself even on hard. Pic is all the auto-solos I did on normal on the last floor. Now we wait until September for the reset lol.

She seems to buff every bracket in her kit. She also seems to debuff every bracket as well. There there is the 25% damage dealt heal after getting her to 5 stars/engagement, which is absurd for auto.
My physical damage supports are pretty good even though I don't have Christmas Apollo. I have School Uriel, School Nyarl, School Hades, Halloween Gabriel, Hermes(? the maid), and I just rolled Baphomet from the free rolls who seems nearly as good as Christmas Apollo. My magic damage supports are hurting with Bride Brunhilde and Angel Hermes being the only two good ones. I fill the other three with Pandora, Marduuk(?), and Sol.

The normal tower is a complete pushover, so I decided to do the hard versions solo. However had to manual. Most difficult stage was the Gold Knight one, simply because you need to kill every enemy and both the boss and some bozos down bottom remain stationary until aggroed. Mansa autoed that stage on normal, but Ninjas weren't cutting it on hard.

All the hard solos are manual. I imagine hard auto solos are possible except for the gold knight floor which simply has too much ground to cover for a single AI. I was surprised Mansa managed it on normal.

For the Golem floor, Takeru comes close to autoing, but the rider and Sorcerer golems together kill her as she ends up taking on both together on auto. Maybe if geared differently.

Amon's floor is extremely close, but Arthur barely passes the threshold to one-shot a lot of units and the real threat are the archers who survive the AoEs and kill if they attack directly. Maybe Solomon can one-shot all the mobs, but mine isn't engaged.

The Katia escort I actually just did on the first go without experimenting much. Valentine's Nadia can wipe out the initial roadblock and take out the following angels, but I don't know how deadly the boss was and if the AI would end up making their way back to it before Katia reaches the end.

Hohenheim's floor ends instantly when she's defeated. Hard cramps too many enemies for auto to target her though, but on manual I simply took out the first mob with a support, then a second one with a re-act and ganked Hohenheim instantly.

Red dot just means you have one of the material requirements, not that you can level up. It was the same thing for all the other master rank ups. Also the subquests thing crashes for me as well if I try to run too many at one time. I always highlight one chapter at a time if I'm clearing everything or two chapters at a time if I'm clearing the smaller nodes. I only bother clearing the small nodes on 3x drops.

How are these generally obtained and how often are they given out? Comfy rotations seem to highly depend on 6sp spam since you get 3 sp per turn, but I feel like I have to be really picky with these since there isn't enough to make multiple auto teams. Teams with unleveled skills waste 2-3 turns basic attacking because of the 8sp cost otherwise.

You get like 5 a week from weeklies and sometimes they might be an event reward in some way. They along with SSS clovers are one of the few things that are actually hard bottlenecks. They can also both be bought with free gems in one of the pack pages, but they're pricy.

This is the first week. I wouldn't worry about it unless your team ended up being full of tryhards. Mine seems chill, they usually suggest card setups for team festival stages, though it sometimes includes a max limit break bunny. I forget who but possibly Tsumugi.

In individual master rankings, I managed to hit master (3) finally and then the two following gimmicks got me good and I'm slated for Platinum 2 at changeover today. So sometimes you have to accept you might not be suited to certain gimmicks and will have bad runs.

How fast do gems stockpile just from events? I have a skewed sense of the income due to all the honeymoon gems and all those collab characters that need to unlock their train board so I pulled the trigger on unlocks and some clovers.

Mist Train Girls has fairly high gem income and it's easy to grab a giant backlog of gems from maxing bond on every unit(Mist Train Girls has a button that lets you auto collect which I don't know why it isn't in any other game) and you can buy keys from the ticket medal shops which let you unlock old event stories. The ticket medal shops also have old event characters which you should also eventually all get and max the bond of. However, you might want to prioritize the weapon boost accessories if you're in want of actual power.

Regarding consistent income.

>500 per week from weeklies for 2k a month

>1k a month from side story shop
>1k a month from monthly battle rush shop
>2.2k a month from tower
>1k a month from account age achievement
>2k from event shop per event

So you're looking at 11k a month from non-events and an additional 5.5k per main event. It will be higher due to various mini-events.

Income looks decent but their character release rate seems fairly high. I guess I ignore "Limited" banners? since they tend to be the norm and just save for anniversary/collabs. It was much easier to skip banners back when I couldn't tell how much specific abilities would benefit me.

Are the weapon boost accessories even worth it? I bought out most of them early game, but looking up the wiki, they seem to be around 8% (中)? Seems like the story accessories are much better with the extra attack since you tend to have a lot of damage mods from party skills and character buffs compared to attack.

Yeah, in Mist Train Girls, the average banner is a limited banner with very few banners actually releasing characters that go to standard. If they're not true limited like a collab, just save for Anni where they'll eventually be put into a custom pick banner somewhere. For accessories, you're probably right.

Imo you don't really need SisMamu's Force Push because if you play correctly the enemy never gets a turn anyway. While it is more convenient in general to use SisMamu, the more difficult content where it matters the most is going to be bs that is immune to everything including Force Push.

For the second part of my hero rolls, I spent over 750SC between the Tram/Ivril banner and the Ephtra/Vidya banner and got these 7 units. Getting Tram instead of Ivril sucked, but getting spooked by Otohime and Delphina was amazing since they were two of my most wanted units. Maybe the food I got from voting for them in the pop contest a few months ago acted like a good luck charm (it's still rotting away in my present box).

Venus honestly doesn't seem great. Your teams should already be looping skills, so the +1 bar of EX isn't going to do anything meaningful. The only good thing is the +50% crit damage to human teams. I'm not sure how high the natural crit damage multiplier is, so that might not even be that much.

She seems like the second best one, but she wouldn't really be saving you all that often. More than likely there will be more than one enemy close to the line if she activates. After that you likely won't have any units around to rumble the other enemies since your lead character just got pushed back after winning a rumble. Also Mahamut pushed the blue moon boss off the screen for me, but you are right that they could always disable forced teleport.
