Shinki fills me with immense amounts of sexual desires when I see her. I need to take her virginity and make her pregnant.

She's already given birth to enough kids to fill up a realm, anon. Even if she were a virgin Goddess like Kanako, her vagina must be absolutely wrecked by now. With her it would be sloppy, wet, hotdog-down-a-mineshaft type of momsex with lots of hugging and kissing, but very little sensation down there for either of you.

Is there any hope for the 98Hus to come back ?

Only for non main series spinoffs.
For example the gacha has multiple 98hus, that's the closest you'll ever get to them being "back" though.

ZUN just doesn't have any reason to bring them back, he started from zero with 6 because he wanted a clean slate to work on.

... well I don't want to be "that guy", but playing the games is the only real way to do everything justice.
Obligatory disclaimer finished, continue on.

The quickest way I can think of describing what I mean is that LLS and MS have amazing setting given how limited the nature of a danmaku game allows for worldbuilding, and Kana / Yumemi are to me some of the most interesting characters even in isolation. There's this feeling of half-built plot about all five games that seems to demand greater attention than any of them were ever given, even if half of it is just spriterips from other stuff and references to Takemoto works (Even most of the art seems to be heavily influenced by his style actually).

It's just full of this sense of wonder and mystery that seems to be missing since probably around TD or so, where the setting starts to become a restriction instead of a freedom to do whatever.
I also happen to quite like old 90's games, since I grew up playing them even though they were well obsolete by the time I got my grubby mits on them.

>>
>>46674292
At this point I just don't think it's going to happen, but part of me is glad. Modern 2hu just doesn't have the same magical feeling that the PC98 and early Windows games have. For example, the LLS Extra is completely shrouded in mystery and completely up to interpretation, and there's nothing quite like it in any 2hu made in the past decade. I feel like Zun would just make it feel less special by bringing them back and overexplaining things.

>>46674569
This is true, the potential behind the 98hus are especially high. I'm an aspiring writefag and came up with enough backstory to fill an essay for Louise of all people, for example.
>>
>>46676947
I think that's the majority of people's real thoughts on the matter. There's an infinitesimal chance of a satisfying official expansion happening, so I'll just be content with a new Aq's US coming (never).

Louise / Luize is a strange one for sure though. Good luck with that.

Does anyone know if in LLS you go into the dried lake of blood or if it's just the place were the blood gets pulled into since my nip-skills tell me it could be either and in the stage you seem to get into a strange hole in the middle of the lake.... Also is it the same lake as the one that appears in one ending?

Anyways agree that the wackiness of pc98 is pretty nice as well as the absolute subreal places you see in the games. Stuff like ZUN writing sorry to any alien reading or Mima with her (lie)s among many other things brings a smile on my face.
>>46688253
Can't say for sure but the raven being fought on a moon like object and the birds of Yoshi's Island coming in two variations winged and not winged might have started it.
Also LLS and Yoshi's Island are both pretty wacky so I guess some artist started it and a few others followed.

Obviously a bit of both. You can't just recycle the same ones over and over again but I don't see the issue with reusing characters so long as they fit their role.
Of course I'm just some guy, I know jack shit about making a danmaku game, so for all I know reusing a character just never works out for anyone.

The lake in the ending certainly is the lake of blood (what else could it be?). Maybe it's really made of blood or maybe it's just red colored water (happens irl because of algae too) so everyone just calls it like that.
The middle part looks to me more like an island with the gate to somewhere near Yuukas mansion

Depends a lot on how ZUN would have approached them, he probably would have even made different design choices due to the hardware's limits like your 2hu having to share the max 16 colors with the background, bullets and the player characters. Picrel has from 11 to 9 colors per portrait which is what usually have.

I don't want to be a pedant, but I should point out that the PC-98 characters were all drawn in Takamoto's style adapted to pixel art.
It's not that obvious, but the way eyes are drawn is totally different, and there's more use of dithering.
Characters also tend to share a few colours with their stage, and the vibrant blues are used a lot more than three different shades of grey.

Nah, you're completely right. The artstyle changes a lot and picking Takamoto's manga as reference is probably a good idea if one aims to get a pc98'hu style.
>dithering
yep, I still have to figure how to properly do that, most of the time I do it it looks weird and I scrap it.
>three different shades of grey.
Was trying to make it pretty IN based but I guess that light pink grey in the hat might need more contrast, the one that would most likely be in a pc98 game would be bottom right, which I forgot to add since I tried to keep my post short.

>Was trying to make it pretty IN based [...]
A lot of the beauty of older games like these is working within and around the restrictions put in place by the hardware. If you download a space shooter game these days you'll be treated to the full 16 million colours available by the three-bit RGB system HDMI can offer you, thousands of polygons on screen at once and still expect to get 60+ FPS on a decent system. Compare this to something like Elite Frontier which ran on a motorola 68000, 2MB of RAM and 7MHz, while still managing to draw polygons before hardware acceleration *in real time at all* and you can get a deeper appreciation of the effort that went in to it's creation.

Now I personally don't have anything against the grey hair in and of itself, you could really go either way, but in an actual game it would have to fit in with the overall palette of the stage. For this reason, it's usually the less saturated colours that get thrown out first, but if you happened to have an unusually dreary looking stage it could work that you use the more subtle shading on the top half rather than on the bottom, but it'd be a massive tradeoff compared to biting the bullet on her not having argon-blue hair and having a much more vibrant stage. There's probably some tricks you can pull off with swapping out the palette mid-frame to draw the character sprites, but I can't say I am intimately familiar with the PC-9800 platform enough to do anything but speculate on that point. People have pulled off more impressive things on similar systems, but usually with a budget over $3.50.

All this is really just to say that a lot of care and thought went into building these games, and there are some pretty tight restrictions on the art in them that can only be pulled off by matching the characters to the stage they are in. Something like IN would have probably blown everyone's mind in 1998 that today we take all that stuff for granted. Even MS must have taken a lot of work to get looking roughly how it was envisaged. What you've done is still cool, and I don't want you to think I'm putting it down for no reason.
Pixel art is much tougher in my view simply because it has to look right despite/because of it's own restrictions, making it a nice treat to see someone pull it off in any capacity.

Appreciate the feedback, if anything 1 gray being used like in LLS would be a thing, I misremembered IN as being more gray in the background if I'm being honest. That and having gray bullets and a decent amount of gray in characters made me think 2 grey colors might work.
>There's probably some tricks you can pull off with swapping out the palette mid-frame to draw the character sprites,
Closest I've seen to that is the change in colors on stage5 when Yuuka appears, but I'm not familiar with the specific PC98 limitations aside from resolution 16 12bit colors max in the same screen.
>Something like IN would have probably blown everyone's mind in 1998
For the PC98 just with the 8 character portraits it would be too heavy for the time, they would at the very least be lower res. Colors might make things like rainbow danmaku patterns would be pretty hard to implement if not impossible. Would indeed be mind blowing at that time. I'm even surprised at MS having a double boss and at LLS changing depending on the character you pick.
>>46728065
LLS uses picrel or similar palette for gameplay parts, MS and PoDD are also similar in colors.
Blonde is probably the most normal hair color to do aside from red and black but using the same color as outlines is a bit tricky.
>>
>>46729589
Sprites and color palettes and such can be updated during the drawing of a single frame and appear like the hardware limitations are being exceeded but aren't really.
