What are your favorite Japanese novels jaypee?I liked Yoshikawa's Musashi.Which of Mishima's novels should I start with?
Recently I read Almost Transparent Blue by Murakami on anon's recommendation and I feel like I was trolled. It's about a druggy who just loves black cock so much that it causes him to disassociate. What a hack!
>>50170643Depends on what you’re into. If you want happy romance - The Sound of Waves, tragic romance - The Sailor, a pretty cool take on overcoming isolation/dissociation - Sun and Steel, comedy - Life for Sale. All four of those are quick reads that give a good idea of repeating themes in his books. Life for Sale may be the more out of place relative to his other works. Obviously if you want to start at his peak just get Spring Snow and keep rolling thru the sea of fertility stuff. Haven’t read Confessions of a Mask yet but that seems to be way up on most people’s list
Request shit is against the rulesAlso off-topic shit
>>50175326Go get your babymetal, touhou, jav, and gravure fix in literally any of the other threads. It’s a board for geeking out about jap shit, that’s exactly what this dude is doing.

>>50175358You are mistaken, this is /a/ and /v/'s /trash/.
>>50175318I've read Sun and Steel a while ago and liked it a lot, currently reading his notes on Hagakure which I'm liking as well.I think I'll try Confessions of a Mask seeing as it's one of his oldest works, thanks.
>>50170643Most of my engagement with Japanese literature has been with poetry, and I'd recommend Shinpei Kusano. Other than that, I've read some of Mishima's essays and started reading The Temple of the Golden Pavilion but never got anywhere with it. I really should go back to reading it.
>>50170643any good Japanese scifi authors?
anyone read this? seems interesting
Recently I read A Man With No Talents and I thought it was pretty interesting. It's about a day laborer in the 90s, he talks about his work experiences and his coworkers.>>50179706Maybe the author of Legend of the Galactic Heroes? Nothing else comes to mind beyond generic LNs.
>>50175318Is the temple of the golden pavillion a good start?
>>50181251Yes. It's really good. That was my first Mishima.
I began reading I am a cat. It's pretty funny.
