when i see daily rape news from india i feel nothing but when i crime news from japan i rage, why?
>>50320356when you see ants kill another insect do you feel anything?
actually reported per capita rates are much lower than most western nations because of underreporting so your premise is false and a setup for the yous
>>50320387its not a setup my heart bleeds for junko furuta but i dont feel anything else that type of crime happens in india every single day
it is a setup because you are implying there are proportionally many more reported cases and that isn't true
>>50320409no i literally dont feel anything when ANY crime happens in india regardless of how often it truly occurs but i rage when ANY crimes happens in japan even if its something insignificant
wouldnt report rape as a woman honestlythe rape itself is maybe 15 minutes of slight discomfortbut going to the police and reporing it is 4+ hours of discomfort minimum
now that's a pivot and doesn't change the factuality of your initial setup
not my setup i was merely commenting on the matter

fake girl to study with + lo-fi musichttps://store.steampowered.com/app/3548580/Chill_with_You__LoFi_Story/?l=japanesenot really sure who this is marketed too because it's this weird space between a game and a productivity tool and ends up being neither
>>50321246The counter-argument that "regulation will halt exponential growth" relies on the assumption that AI development is a centralized, controllable process like building nuclear power plants.Current data suggests this is incorrect. AI development is behaving more like **software piracy** or **cryptocurrency**—decentralized, globally fluid, and technically resistant to top-down control. Here is a debunking of the "Regulation Halt" thesis based on three "Failure Mechanisms":### 1. The "Prisoner’s Dilemma" (Geopolitical Failure)Regulation only works if *everyone* agrees to pause simultaneously. In a geopolitical arms race, this is a strategic impossibility.* **The Dynamics:** If the U.S. pauses AI development for safety, it risks ceding dominance to China. If China pauses, it risks U.S. hegemony. This creates a **Prisoner’s Dilemma** where the rational move for both sides is to accelerate, regardless of the risks.* **Evidence:** * **NSCAI Report:** The U.S. National Security Commission on AI explicitly concluded that the U.S. "must win the AI competition" against China to preserve democratic values, effectively ruling out any unilateral slowdown. * **Sovereign AI:** Nations like **Saudi Arabia** ($100B+ AI fund), **UAE**, and **France** are actively funding "Sovereign AI" clouds to ensure they aren't dependent on U.S. regulation. They view AI as a national security asset, not just a consumer product.### 2. Regulatory Arbitrage (Economic Failure)Capital and talent are liquid. If one jurisdiction imposes strict rules (like the EU's AI Act), development simply moves to a "pro-innovation" jurisdiction.* **"AI Havens":** We are already seeing the emergence of jurisdictions competing to be regulatory havens. * **Japan:** Has declared a "machine learning paradise" approach where copyright laws notably *do not apply* to AI training data, explicitly inviting companies to train there. * **Singapore & UAE:** Have established "sandbox" environments with loose enforcement to attract top talent and compute infrastructure.* **The Outcome:** Regulation doesn't stop the growth; it just redistributes the GDP. The exponential curve continues, just on a different continent.### 3. The "Cat is Out of the Bag" (Technical Failure)The most devastating counter-argument is that **inference** (running AI) has decoupled from **training** (creating AI).* **Open Weights are Forever:** Once a model like **Llama 3** or **DeepSeek** is released, its "weights" (the file that constitutes its brain) are distributed via BitTorrent. They cannot be "un-released."* **Quantization & Consumer Hardware:** Techniques like **4-bit quantization** compress massive models so they can run on consumer MacBooks or gaming PCs (NVIDIA RTX 4090s). * *Result:* You no longer need a regulated $1B data center to run super-intelligence. You can run it in a basement, completely off-grid. Regulation cannot police millions of local hard drives.* **Smuggling:** Even hardware bans fail. Despite strict U.S. export controls on NVIDIA H100 chips, a thriving black market exists in Shenzhen where these chips are bought, sold, and even repaired.### Summary: The "Water Balloon" EffectAttempting to halt exponential software growth with regulation is like squeezing a water balloon. You don't stop the expansion; you just force it to bulge out somewhere else—whether that's into the black market, into open-source networks, or into rival nations.**The Verdict:** Regulation will likely **shape** the trajectory (forcing companies to be more secretive or move HQs), but it lacks the global coordination and technical enforceability to **halt** the underlying exponential trend.

Some days I skip Anki and feel like shit for doing so, but it's only because I'm too busy immersing myself (and usually reviewing while doing so anyway, finding a word that I just learned via Anki the prior day) so I know it's pretty much a wash and what I'm supposed to be doing anyway. But it feels so bad seeing my review count double the next day as a result. I just need to train my mind to not fucking care. I'm learning anyway, it's fine. If I spend all day grinding a VN and looking up every word I don't know/reviewing words I'm not confident in then I'm essentially fucking doing Anki anyway just not in the app.
>>50321918youre on the right track and honestly you dont need to think too hard when doing reviewsyou could mash the next button and still come out with a better understanding of the vocabulary you just added than if you did nothing at all

You guys realize learning Hindi would be way more useful than Japanese?
thats fake toromi bro. the real toromi is still lurking in the dark waiting for perfect moment to strike!!11!1
>>50320673What's wrong with this? This is exactly what I do when looking up words. If there are kanji I'm unfamiliar with in it, I'll look up other words that use that kanji and normally find one that I've learned before but was on the edge of my mind. And that helps solidify the original target word, or at least form an association I can tag with so when I bump into 離婚 I can go ちょっと待って・・・これ結婚」の「婚」だろう?そして・・・離す?・・・ and look up 離 to confirm, finding out that it's also in 離脱 which I learned prior but forgot since it's not as common, and then it all fits together. And then I proceed to plug it into immersion kit to listen to it in a bunch of different examples to get a baseline for it. This looks like it's just a more streamlined version of that...though I do think there's a point where things get a bit too comfortable and frictionless, and the lack of that extra effort makes it less likely to stick. It's why I avoid copying and pasting words or using text hooks - I'd rather write the word down on my iPad dictionary app so it requires me to actually process the kanji and translate it into muscle memory as well.
grok tl;dr
MGSAnon here, game is still fun in Japanese. Playing this was a good choice. I do feel this is helping a lot with my immersion. I need more PS1/PS2 era games to play in Japanese. Its comfy.
>>50321634CAREFUL. I LEARNED "SKEWER" MEANS A FOOD STICK. BUT UPON FURTHER LEARNING OF ENGLISH, I LEARNED IT ALSO MEANS TO IMPALE SOMETHING FULLY. THAT'S WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER LEARN WORDS USING WORDS. ONLY LEARN WORDS FROM THE ETHER.

I asked him what he thought about Gemini's ability to translate Japanese, and he proceeded to play a live translation of my wife in the bed through Gemini. Not going to lie anikitachi...the future is very abunai. It sounded exactly like one of my ero VN lolis and I don't think we will ever have a reason to learn this language at this point.

And is genki a good book? Its structure seems all over the place, the exercises are mostly 'pair up with your class! this is funfunfun!' While i do feel i'm progressing okay, this RU-U thing, and Kims warning(about how some books try to teach english-japanese) made me worry this is some wierd autism book. >>50322554I'm on ch3 like you but i've stopped doing textbook work atm. My thoughts are that atm its more effective to have lots of immersion/input and building vocab through Anki. I was utterly embarrassed by my last tutor session. I did not study and thus had a humiliating performance in front of the tutor.Guess what? Now when she corrected me, the correction stuck that much harder. And you bet Im studying super hard this time. Humiliation is something you can only have via tutor. You cant be embarrassed by studying on your own or talking to an AI. Which is crucial to the learning experience. When kids learn, embarrassment is part of the learning process. Trying to recall phrases/words, and seeing social rejection when you apply them incorrectly. Its all part of the process. This is why I say a tutor is crucial.

You will be using your masculine urges in your favor to directly learn Japanese by doing this.

>>50322823Game Gengo’s rigorous analysis likely proved superior to Genki’s classroom-centric Communicative Language Teaching model—which often relies on formulaic sequences for immediate utility—but since the ultimate pedagogical goal is learner autonomy, you need not fear the transient L1 interference inevitable when bridging the gap between scaffolded instruction and authentic discourse.

>>50323013The text in the image provides a functional but linguistically incomplete overview of the nominative case marker. While stating that ga marks the subject is syntactically correct, it fails to distinguish the grammatical subject from the discourse topic (marked by wa), which is the primary source of confusion for learners. This definition implies a one-to-one correlation with English subjects, ignoring that Japanese sentence structures often separate the topic from the acting subject.Furthermore, the explanation omits the particle's usage with stative predicates and potential verbs. In constructions expressing ability, desire, or preference (such as suki or wakarimasu), ga marks the argument that English speakers formally classify as the direct object, causing significant interference for beginners relying on this simplified definition. The text also vaguely groups "emphasis" without explicitly defining exhaustive listing (or exclusive focus), where the particle specifies "X and only X" performed the action, which is distinct from a neutral description of an observed event.
