Is the Colt Python a good SHTF weapon?
>>
is this a shit thread?
>>
>>61416080
I don't see any logs yet
>>
No Rick. Buy a Ruger.
>>
>>61416066
could be worse e.g. no gun.
>>
>>61416128
I would but they only seem to make the 7 shot GP100 once a year and only five at a fucking time
Why are they such retards

Yeah, make sure to pack a jill sandwich too

If it's the 2020 model Python, maybe.

Did they beef them up so they don't go out of time anymore?

A gun shooting uncommon ammo that is made by a company known for shoddy QC?

Yeah, they used the Trooper MkIII action, aka 2nd gen Colt action.
Much more durable and most parts inside it are 17-4 stainless. Real tough stuff.

The most important thing when it comes to surviving shtf is to be a main character.
If you are just another npc with a glock and an ar15, you are NGMI. If you are the autist with obscure guns and unpredictable tendencies, you literally cannot be written out of the story.

I have a Colt trooper mkIII (police variant of the python) and it's honestly not great. The rifling is great but it's about as accurate as one would expect from any sort of pistol. You can reload it pretty quickly with a speed loader but 6 rounds is very limiting in an SHTF situation. I will admit, it is nice being able to fire both .38 and .357, but that's about the only considerable upside.

You're all around better off getting a modern handgun like a Glock or a SIG for any practical purpose. By all means get a revolver for fun, but in an SHTF scenario, the Trooper is being handed off to a no guns friend of mine and I'll be carrying either my Glock or Makarov
>>
>>61416720

just shut the fuck up, they're not even the best striker fire plastic pistol in their own price range

There's really nothing special about it.
I don't know how else to tell you, but the *173,000* rounds or whatever has some fairly serious caveats. Here's what we'd need to know:
>what ammo
>was it cleaned
>what part(s) are they suggesting survived
>are they suggesting no yoke tube peening occurred
>did it need endshake bearings
>did they need to fix parts rather than replace
>any part replacements

I have never seen anyone provide answers or testing methodology which means it's just garbage marketing.
>>
Some of my friends are real country and like to talk about some "SHTF" scenario.

One, JaMarcus, claims that if an EMP blast struck the USA then many people would die yet country people would survive the best. Hunting, fishing, farming, gardens, guns, far from the blast and violent chaos of a domestic conflict, survival skills.

I tell him that the most important thing in a scenario like that is probably the people you know and the connections you have, because mass co-operation is required. First the people you know, then the skills you have, and lastly, the supplies you have.

the most common handgun caliber is still 9x19, so good luck finding ammo for your boomer crap, because no one stacks .357 or .38 anymore. at the end of the day, you'd be left with an expensive paperweight. also, have fun finding spare parts for a high end match gun in a war torn shithole.

False paradigm, colt python is a great gun but if its used get it seen by a good gunsmith to get the timing perfect.People play with revolvers to much and it wears on them.

Yeah
>>
>>61424554
There’s been a couple different anons just this year that bought Taurus revolvers, and had to exchange them for Rugers since 2-3 chambers of the cylinders weren’t aligned and they were badly shaving lead.
>>
>>61417044
What, in your opinion, was wrong with them?
>>
>>61416066
python is a higher end range toy, why not shitty shotgun? needs fewer parts to run, ammo everywhere, trigger not even necessary in some cases. better for shtf
>>
>>61416066
Yeah, haven’t you seen The Walking Dead?? It’s basically OP and needs a nerf.

>country people would survive the best. Hunting, fishing, farming, gardens, guns, far from the blast and violent chaos of a domestic conflict, survival skills
Your friend is a tard for the most part. The majority of folks in rural towns don't hunt, farm or fish on a daily basis, much less for sustenance, and it's hard to feed an entire family with just a small garden. We have day jobs and drive to walmart for groceries every week. Plus we've got a shitton of old fatfuck boomers who will drop dead after a week of not getting their meds shipped in. That's not to say that we don't have a higher percentage of people who do match your description than urbanites but they're not an average representation. We're coddled as much as anyone by modern society
>>
>>61431876
They would survive if they have a colt python.
>>
meh you could do worse. it wouldnt be ideal for fighting other humans, but it's big enough to hunt with if you had to and get close enough. you could use ratshot and potentially hunt rodents or small birds.
it would be alright

taurus revolvers are just clones of smith and wesson designs with minor differences between them and an obviously lower level of fit and finish. if you replace the springs they're fine.

they're also seem ridiculously cheap because everyone sells their old rugers and smiths and god forbid their colts for way more than they bought them new since they don't make a lot of them every year, so you can walk into a pawn shop and see a bunch of beat to shit $800 sp101's and $1000 686's next to a brand new $450 taurus
>>
>>61416066
revolvers suck read about it here
>>61433639
literally any semi auto would outperform it
>>
>>61416066
OG one? No, they have a bad tendency to develop timing issues and that's gonna kill the gun if you don't have access to a gunsmith who can fix it. Better options are Ruger or S&W .357s. Even as a revolverfag, I'd still prefer to carry a Glock 19 in case of SHTF. I guess you could have both if you wanted lol. Its like an extra 2-3 lbs.
