The Kaplan-MT tank from Turkish FNSS has arrived in Brazil for military trials. The vehicle is a medium tank weighing less than western main battle tanks.

A 35 ton variant of the vehicle called the Harimau has been exported to Indonesia featuring a 105mm gun just protection against 25mm autocannons, though the variant proposed for Brazil will feature heavier armor and is projected to weigh over 44 tons. The model proposed for Brazil would be slightly larger, featuring an active protection system, a modern hunter killer optics system, drone integration, an uprated engine, and armor protection against larger caliber cannons similar to modern main battle tanks and would mount a commanders autocannon for defense against drone attacks. This version would be manufactured locally in Brazil and serve along Brazilian built CV90 infantry fighting vehicles of a similar weight class. This 45 tons variant would be similar in weight and performance to the cancelled Brazilian designed Engesa EE-T1 Osorio main battle tank. Turkish arms manufacturers have also recently won a tender to upgrade Chilean Leopard 2 and Marder armored vehicles and have proposed modernized M60 and Leopard 1 tanks for other Latin American armed forces. Pars 6x6 and 8x8 armored vehicles are also being proposed for Mexico along with unspecified Turkish tracked combat vehicles.

I strongly suspect this heavier version would mount the new Turkish two man turret that the Turks are planning to put on their M60. It has active protection systems and can mount an autocannon so that all seems about right.

There is because Venezuelans are legitimately fucking retarded. They are still full onboard with "muh bolivarian slowsicalismo" and legit think they should expand and conquer their neighbors even as they are collapsing. They're the Russia of the continent.

It really depends on the political situation, back in the 70s there was the belief Velasco Alvarado would attempt to recover Arica as Chile has been under Allende and had
its economy weakened while Velasco had been ramping up the purchase of soviet weaponry and expanding the armed forces, it was with Pinochet that Chile recovered military parity with Peru and then overcame it as Peru's military has become stagnant in terms of offensive capabilities.

https://www.cia.gov/readingroom/docs/CIA-RDP84S00897R000200090006-2.pdf

At the current time Peru's strategy is defensive and would be to basically repeat what Russia did to stop Ukraine's counteroffensive, use their demographics to throw enough men and AT systems to grind to a halt a chilean armored assault, and then hope western powers would force both sides to go back to their current borders, although realistically speaking if this situation happened it would mean Chile's government would probably be anti-globalist and non-conductive to international intervention, so the whole thing may end up degenerating into a grinder.

Peru also has the issue in such circumstance it will need to keep a strong presence in their northern border in case Ecuador tried to take over historically claimed territories, but that would be a specops war as most of the region is rainforest.

There is always the problem USA stance about South America would change, becoming disinterested with the region, in such a situation it will be up to every country to solve any new territorial war al by themselves, this is one of the reasons why many SA countries don't just buy from one seller, instead they try to get as many suppliers as possible in case changing political situations may make them lose logistical support.

I don't know anon, to be quite frank with you we are a bit too retarded, for example the other day our german dryer machine (Bosch) stopped working so we called technical support for mainteinance, the technicians, who happened to be venezuelans for well known reasons, got stuck in trying to separate it from the washing machine, in the end they had to take the upper top of the washing machine alongside the dryer machine.

A few days later when they came back with it fixed I started talking to them, commenting german products pros and cons, they confirmed me german engineering is great... until it breaks or needs maintenance, then you are basically screwed as they are too overengineered for most regular people.

They told me the easiest machines to get fixed are the ones made by General Electrics... Lima happens to be both the name of the capital of Peru and the Abrams tank factory, so maybe there is some sort of /x/ esoteric meaning to the whole thing or something and we should buy Abrams for shit and giggles.
>>
>>61439911
vehicles are actually quite effective against mechs in Battletech if you play them to their own strength, mechs are basically shock assault weapons, the equivalent to space marines, that they are also used on line warfare is proof the Inner Sphere grew too rich and then became too stupid.

Peru is in time for another coup though, they ain't buying shit

>They told me the easiest machines to get fixed are the ones made by General Electric

GE appliances nowadays are just rebadged products from a Mexican contract manufacturer named Mabe. Venezuelans being retarded seems spot on though. It's actually impressive how dumb they manage to be. Like they're somehow 20 IQ points below the rest of Latin America. Like they have some sort of genetic differentiator. It's truly fascinating.

I have met some smart venezuelans to the point you could discuss academic matters, play complex strategy games and even talk about metaphysics, they are harder to differentiate from our own intellectual elites, among other things because they were the first ones who fled the country and managed to integrate faster, the issue was not these early expats who truth be told are all the same in all the region, the linchpins who have kept LATAM somewhat civilized and even capable to sudtain some advanced manufacturing, but the following tidal waves of low-medium and lower class we received, while our economy was growing we somewhat managed to give most of them jobs, there was a point we were growing at such a rate basically most of the vagrants in our cities were these migrants.

The problem came with COVID, for reference 1 in 4 peruvians lost their job in 2020 (in my house my sister who worked for a hotel chain was our reality check) the entirety of the region grinded to a halt but this didn't stop the migrants escaping their military socialist dictatorship from coming here, we somehow managed to restart our economies, but the lockdown not just made us poorer, it broke for at least 2 years our education systems, this included not just peruvians but the venezuelan children and youth who were in urgent need of education. I fear in the coming years we will get a batch of even dumber people, not kkst victims of Maduro and his henchmen but from the social crack produced by the pandemic. Compound to that braindrain tot he west in already overcrowded countries and we are in for even more diffcult times.

The Brazilian model will probably have a 120mm gunned turret from the Centauro 2. Brazil just acquired the lisence to manufacture the Centauro 2 and the Italians were also proposing putting the Centauro turret on Brazilian Leopards but those hulls were deemed to old. This Turkish hull will likely take their place.

>>
>>61452217
You sound like a retard. Abrams are not difficult to maintain. The AGT1500 barely has any moving parts. They just have a high idle fuel consumption but APUs fix that now. The Peruvians tested the Abrams alongside the Leopard 2, T90, T84, VT4 and K2 and found it to be the third cheapest to operate long term after the T90 and VT4.

There's this thing called the Andes and this other thing called the Amazon that makes tanks almost completely useless in south america
>>
>>61453327
There is between Chile and Peru the Atacama desert which has a lot of flat terrain, for reference you could put the entirety of Kuwait or the current ukrainian battletline inside it, this is the reason why both Peru and Chile have gone through periodic purchases of tanks.

Also:

https://larepublica.pe/politica/actualidad/2022/12/17/antauro-sobre-relacion-de-peru-y-chile-cuando-recuperemos-arica-y-tarapaca-habra-una-hermandad-real-atmp

>For us there cannot be a normal relationship with Chile, as long as those territories are claimed. When we recover Arica and Tarapacá there will be a real brotherhood

This guy is among the 2 first in the list of preference for the next peruvian elections, the other being Keiko Fujimori who ALWAYS loses, personally I will not vote for him and I think my countrymen should let go this whole irredentism and focus on more important matters, but sadly there is a lot of retarded people (their voting base is below 85 IQ) over here who still haven't figured out he may end up sending them into a SMO South American Edition, it would take many years to recover military parity with Chile, also nationalization, totalitarian policies, destruction of our financial reserves, etc, etc, etc.

This may end up turning into something like what happened to the Argentinian armed forces, starting a war to recover credibility, lose it and then get neutered by a resentful civilian sector.

The only good thing is he HATES caviars like there is no tomorrow and they hate him in turn, but we shall see, at worst I hope CIA takes care of him like it's rumored they did with Velasco.

Abrams had higher readiness rates than Leopards and Challengers in the sand nigger wars and its not even a little close

Peru still buys slavshit because it's supposed to be easier to maintain and operate, they were going to buy ukrainian tanks but shit hit the fan, not sure if the peruvian army could be convinced of buying US systems, they aren't exactly anti-US but they have had a lot of "revolutionary nationalism" thoughts going for them, buying US wepons is more of a navy thing.

They specifically were interested in Ukrainian armor because it offered a lot of performance for how inmexpensive if is and they already were planning to upgrade their old tank fleet with Ukrainian help. The T84 is actually fairly maintenance intensive despite still being affordable. You can get some ridiculous power out of the 6TD engine though it having 12 pistons in 6 cylinders means you need to absolutely be 101% on top of maintenance.

It almost certainly will mount the Hitfact 120mm turret. Brazil just bought the rights to build it and the Centauro locally and were already toying with putting it on the Leopard 1. Turkey is offering that MZK turret to upgrade Brazils M60A3 vehicles.

>>61459359
Ukrainian stuff can be good if you gut all the Russian parts. The T84 for export to Peru had a German 120mm gun, bustle autoloader with blowout panels, French fire control and US data networking systems. Tender was kill due to Russia invading Ukraine. Peru wanted the K2 first but those cost about 2.5 times what the Oplot does.

Upgrading the Leopard with the Hitfact 120mm turret aint a bad idea but the vehicles themselves are quite old. That proposal also would include fitting them with MEXAS armor packs like the Canadian Leopards.

Its more likely that Peru will end up with Leopard 2A6 now and Chile is getting their Leopard 2A4 upgraded by the Turks with shit from the Altay program. It would be interesting to see Leopard vs Leopard battles. But both should be focused on Venezuela.

I would love to see Venezuela try to start a war with all of it's neighbors and collectively get fucked over in an engagement that would be like both the first Gulf War and the Russo Ukrainian war turned up to ten.

We are just waiting for Maduro to do a Saddam on Guyana to get rid of him, on the other hand no one wants yet another wave of refugees who will be bitter about an international coalition bombing their country.

The sad truth is that this is going to be another Castro regime, fueled by oil and leftoid retardation believing their own propaganda, so probably no one will start anything and we will keep seeing a current of migrants, I suppose some nations may benefit from the demographic boost, but others already have more than enough and the regional economy hasn't been growing at enough of a rate to assimilate them.
