You’re gonna rob an armored car, what weapon are you using?
>>
>>61447098
Dunno but I'll have to get it on if he makes a move.
>>
>>61447098
Fire. I formulate a scary appearing but ultimately not very dangerous molotov and torch the armored car while it's stopped. The drivers will instantly bail. Then I have two sets of guys move in: one will steal the van and drive off, the others extinguish the fire.

Spike strip to blow out the tires, breach charge to blow up the door, teargas canister to throw into the back to have the guards exit, zip ties to cuff them and then have guys with gas masks and pistols go in to take the money and then get your getaway driver to cheese it.

More than whats on an armored car, anyway.

Muzzle-loading ball-firing canon are horrible against any sort of armor plate. They dent and bounce. That's why everybody abandoned them in the second half of the 19th century.

Sneak into the car when it's not occupied and quickly fart in the cabin. When the drivers get back they'll either be knocked out from the stench or forced to run away

That's why you need to find a specific armored car that has something you want. Haven't you seen Heat? Come on anon, it's a classic. It's even pretty decently /k/
>>

I never understood how this whole "helicopter lift the thing out" would have made sense. It's not like the feds wouldnt have been involved at that point, once they're in the air the whole crew would have been sitting ducks being followed with ease by every radar in the state.

The sensible thing to do would be to just have your own small private bank.
>>
>>61449631
Obviously.
That does nothing to answer my curiosity, because my question wasn't "is a round ball fired by black powder a good way to defeat armor" it was "exactly how much armor would it take to stop it"

There is an exact thickness of a given type of steel it would take to stop a 12 pound cast iron cannonball moving at over a thousand feet per second, THAT is the thing I am curious about.

It doesn't really matter what you use. One thing I think The Town got right was target selection. The current guy who does my cash pickups thinks he's special forces complete with the beard, tacticool patches, and extended mag on his Sig. If I were forced to rob that guy i'd probably have to magdump him because he'll decide to be the big hero. Meanwhile the last guy was a nerdy little fuck carrying a single stack ruger and the cheapest frayed and sagging chinesium PC on earth with AR500 plates. He's the one who is going to decide not to get shot over other people's money and just hand it over without a fuss.
>>
>>61447098
Rather rob a cigarette truck.
$40,000 off of an armored car or $1 million plus from a ciggy truck. Tie up the driver and his armed escort and rifle through the packs for locators at the truck stop. Toss a few hundred clean cartons onto a school bus, drive it to New York, and employ an army of gang bangers to hawk cartons for $150 apiece.
>>
>>61447098
Probably a full salvo from an Iowa-class battleship's main guns. Since it's not mention what I'm supposed to get from the car it's clearly not important, so I might as well have some fun.

Now that you used a pic of one of my country's armored cars (Spain) I will tell you the most famous story of the person who actually robbed one and fled the country with the money.
Dionisio Rodríguez Martín aka "El dioni" was an ugly bastard incel cocaine lover that was working as a security guard. He hated his life, hated his coworkers and hated his employer, so he applied to be a armored driver, one morning he sent his coworkers to bring some coffee during a service, gtfo alone with the armored car to the airport and bought a ticket to Brazil carrying more than (current) $1M in cash.
As simple as that.
He spent the next months wasting hundred of thousands fucking prostitutes + cocaine + drinks + the best hotels. (pic related, he didnt dissapear he just wanted to live a few months like a rich guy, laughing about the whole situation). Obviously the police got him eventually and spent a few years in prison.
So no, you dont need guns, you just need to be smart.

Hypothetically? The greatest weakness is are the people driving the vehicle. Follow them home from work. See if wife kids etc. gather info. Pull up to them one day and hand them a letter with detailed info about their loved ones, photos etc. and have them open the back.

>>
>>61465388
How is it exceptionally overkill? Those things are armored to the teeth, and anything short of anti materiel rifles will hardly inconvenience it.
Using an rpg aimed at the driver or engine seems entirely appropriate.
>>
>>61450182

panzerfausts kill tanks, you use one on an armored car and you blow up the loot as well, If you want to use explosives, I wouldnt use anything bigger than an m72 or m320 on the front. and even then I'd be REAL fucking careful.
>>
>>61447128
I have a feeling they are trained for that. I also have a feeling the trucks can withstand a certain amount of fire.
>>
I used to work in one of these while in uni.
3 people in the car one in the back who holds the money, driver and co driver.
Wheels are run flats. The whole "cell" where the money is held is bullet proof we aren't told to what degree.
The door can only be opened from the inside
Also there is an auxiliary engine in the back of the engine gets shot up so it can run on an electric engine
>>
>>61447098
Happened to my country last year, and it was a Prosegur truck coincidentally. around 10-12 suspects ambushed the truck while it was crossing a bridge and boxed them in, then they used ANFO explosives to open the truck, but they ended up using too much explosives and destroyed most of the truck and money. They took what they could salvage and set fire to two stolen cars to cover their getaway, but the guards managed to survive and killed one of the robbers while they were escaping. One of the guards later died from his wounds while in the hospital.

>>61447128
>drive off in the GPS tracked, immobilizer equipped van I just set on fire
>"the guard will do this" with no plan if they don't

Half baked. You'd need to empty the van and take off. At most I'd drive it around the back of the store to a getaway car and have the homies cover as it's emptied. I'm gonna assume the getaway car gets recorded so that's another lead to clean up. All bags will be checked for trackers, every stack of cash checked as we escape to the first getaway location. Then everything will be thoroughly checked, leaving no leads at the first location. Then off to a second location with the clean cash, then launder it and I'm not gonna post how.
>>
>>61448194
You have to account for possibly running into some overzealous cop reject spic who's gonna treat it like a SWAT situation. None of you consider that you'll likely have to kill the guards.

Didn't russia get accused of using this to assassinated someone?
