i would argue that israel is a western country
>>
from NYT:

>It was unclear what sort of weapon struck the Iranian air defense system. Three Western and two Iranian officials confirmed on Friday that Israel had deployed aerial drones and at least one missile fired from a warplane. Previously, Iranian officials said the attack on the military base had been conducted by small drones, most likely launched from inside Iranian territory.

>A missile, two Western officials said, was fired from a warplane far from Israeli or Iranian airspace and included technology that enabled it to evade Iran’s radar defenses. Neither the missile nor the aircraft that fired it entered Jordanian airspace, the Western officials said, a gesture meant to keep the kingdom out of the conflict after it helped shoot down Iranian weapons last week.

any ideas on what the missile could be? or what purpose the drones served?

financial times agrees with you:

>The missile segments, photographed and posted on social media by Sabereen News, an outlet linked to Iraqi Shia militias, were identified by some experts as most likely being the expended fuel propulsion units of Israeli-made Blue Sparrow missiles. Early Pentagon assessments pointed in the same direction, according to one person briefed on the work.

>The Sparrow family of air-launched missiles have a range of up to 2,000km and could have been fired by Israeli fighter jets refuelled by tanker planes in Syrian airspace, according to OSINT analysts citing air flight data from late on Thursday.

>Buttressing that theory, Syria’s Sana state news agency reported that Israeli missiles had targeted air defence positions in its southern region. Such a move would fit with Israel “clearing the air corridor in Syria for a stand-off strike on Iran”, said one former senior US defence official.

>>61449234
There's no way anyone can see what kind of damage was done from an image like that. Until we get proper high resolution satellite images, I will treat everything as conjecture.
>>
>>61457047
you can pretty clearly see the launchers and one of the radars are completely missing
also the radar that isn't missing appears to be damaged >>61452624
considering you don't remove air defenses in a sensitive area while anticipating a strike
it's safe to assume they're either damaged or destroyed
>>
>>61457137
>one of the radars are completely missing
Could be due to lots of things.
>also the radar that isn't missing appears to be damaged
You can't actually see anything from that.

those SAR images were literally first obtained by CNN. CNN ran with the caption of "Exclusive: No extensive damage seen at Isfahan air base in satellite images".

>>
>>61457137
we have non-SAR images now. there are no burn marks on those places were the launchers and radar are missing.
so your assumptions are wrong.

Huh, interesting. The "burn mark" looks very rectangular though, and the blast would have had to be fuckhuge to create something that size, but I'm no expert in burn marks. I wonder if it's just people seeing what they want to see in low resolution images.

how come everyone else switched to talking about drone strikes after seeing those photos?
what missile has the range to reach Isfahan from Iraq but then does so little damage?

Israel has a series of F-15 launched ballistic missiles called "Sparrow", with a range of over 1500 kilometers.

It is designed to emitate Iranian ballistic missiles and could be armed with up to 1 ton HE warheads.

A weapon in this category might have been used, and it would serve as the ultimate middle finger to Iran.

First of of all, *up to*. The smaller the warhead, the longer the range.

Second of all, missiles could airburst.

Third of all, I can't persnonally guess the warhead size based solely on those pictures.

iran's must be shitting themselves knowing the S300s protecting their nuclear sites are as good as useless

The current meta is actually starting to see more and more mass Firebat to counter Dark Swarm and Wraith harass in all matchups. Queens have gotten pretty popular as well due to the newish Plague+Hydra strat against Terran being countered by Siege Tanks. Crazy that a 20 year old game is still evolving regularly to this day. Ghosts and Scouts for sure need something

>My guess is that after the radar was damaged, a net was draped over it to obscure the extent of the damage. Per @AuroraIntel this image is from 20th whereas clearer imagery from the 19th exists, possibly without a net.
>Also, vehicle hasn't been moved so it may be inoperable.
>You can still see the outline of the vehicle and even the extended radar array so I'd say the damage was quite light and possibly even repairable.

Agreed, I've seen ONE in the last few ASLs and the dude still lost IIRC.

see >>61459645, new meta is FBs against adrenal lings/hydras under the dark swarm.
>Queens
Spawn broodling is pretty effective against Soulkey terran late-game, extremely cost efficient.
>Wraiths
Already pretty powerful. Finding some use against carriers in the new meta but theyre already fast and can butcher worker lines if the opponent has cut ANY corners on defense.
>Devourer
Very niche but I think they're fine.

Unpopular opinion:
>Valkyries should affect interceptors
>t. Terran supremacist
