GOBLN test information is out.tldr: XM123 Ground Obstacle Breaching Lane Neutralizer is a US Army mine and obstacle clearing system designed to maintain high optempo through minefields. A test of GOBLN was conducted in late March of 2024 at Yuma Proving Ground. The concept consists of a mine detection device and a mine neutralization device. A lot of mines can just be hidden underground or in bushes, you’d have to give your position away to fly a drone and collect information, and in cases like Ukraine, you’d need hours to clear out hundreds of mines in an area to do an offensive. However, I think it would still be pretty good as a mortar that uses AI to attack enemy positions. Lot’s of interesting military projects going on right now, which brings a smile to my face.
