What I mean, if they had the extensive QC Law Enforcement duty rounds have (or should have), the ballistics of a well performing hollow point, they would be priced accordingly.

They probably are better than FMJ, even if they don’t expand they act more like a flat point. I stack the 10mm S&B hollows since at 1150 fps they’re not weak and they’re the same price as FMJ. They may be the cause of most of my 10mm 1911s not feeding perfectly.

Lucky Gunner has a good selection of ammo they’ve tested through short barrels. I don’t think S&B is listed. As you can see some 147 gr rounds just fail to expand completely out of a short barrel
https://www.luckygunner.com/labs/self-defense-ammo-ballistic-tests/#9mm

Anons like Speer Gold Dot, Federal HST, and Critical Defense. I don’t think it’s a super big deal about your ammo, being able to train a lot with your ammo does matter and it being the same as your S&B range ammo be a plus.

Yeah my fudd ass range requires NRA membership in order to stay a member too. If it lapses or you refuse they will forcibly rape you with a full membership fee and donate it to the NRA in your name out of spite. So gay and lame. I just wait for 5 and 10 year renewal deals from the NRA and pay like 1/3 price, the bare minimum. I hate it. I hate people. Like OP.

Okay, so either join the NRA (which provides a valuable service taking flak from the victim disarmament lobby so real gun rights groups can get stuff done) or split your draw practice between dry unholstering and presentation at home and live-fire presentation from the first part of your drawstroke that has the gun pointed downrange (and adjust your par times accordingly)

Does it specify you have to be a full member? I just found out Associate membership is only $10/year. I gotta check if this qualifies for my range, if it is I've been wasting money
https://joinnra.nra.org/join/associate.aspx

I dunno when they do sales, I usually stumble on to them on forums. But the cheapest way to get a membership without deals would be full price for the first year, then renew. Renewing for multi-year-terms is cheaper than sign up. ($100 compared to $150 for 5 years)

Lube-chama, "hotgluing" is slang for "ejaculating on an inanimate object, especially a waifu figurine." It comes from the Sexy Anime Figurine world, where people would post pictures of their big tiddy waifu statuettes covered in jizz, with the "plausible" deniability that it's not seen but hot glue that got all over the place during a repair attempt.

Sort of off-topic, but what's normal for transfer fees these days? My local FFL is charging $40, I feel like that's excessive but I haven't bought a gun in a decade. Am I just being a boomer?
>>
>>61486839
Depends on state and if the state charges your FFL fees for transfers or makes them do extra paperwork
>>
>>61486839
You are getting jewed in the ass. They must think you're fucking stupid or something. My FFL is a pawn shop. Their transfer fee is $25 and that's after it increased.
If a store is charging more than $30 to be a middleman with shit you already paid for they think you are a sucker.
>>
>>61486848
Also my FFL used to be 25 dollars but they moved it to 40 since they were losing money doing transfers. I don’t think they would lie to me
>>
>>61486839
My LGS charges $20
>>
>>61486839
All the shops around here raised their fees around the same time 1-2 years ago to ~$35 (plus $10 state fee). Before that they all used to be ~$25. It varies by location, kitchen table FFLs will be cheaper than shops.

>>61486853
Ah yes let me just travel to the other side of the state or something to save $5 on a transfer fee very frugal
>>
>>61486838
How is it irrelevant? It was irrelevant when it wasn't confirmed because you claimed it was like 2 people. Why would they replace all the barrels if it was only 2%?

>>
>>61486871
It wasn't even two people afaik it was the same guy it happened to twice. At least that's what was posted here, I never heard about it anywhere else until that DD tweet said 2% of owners reported keyholing. Were there THOUSANDS of first hand anecdotes about this? That's why 2% is a LOT, to have come out of (as far as I have perceived) nowhere.

>Why would they replace all the barrels if it was only 2%?
Only 2% of owners reported that, but their testing must have shown that the right ammo combo could do it in any barrel, which would be consistent with a wonky twist rate. Same as Sig's strikers, just because X.XX% of units come back broken doesn't mean only those are affected, it just takes the right circumstances applied to any unit in that whole batch. So my guess is they're just doing a new twist rate globally to stamp it out before more come back.

>>61486894
I'm jelly but they simply do not cost that within 500 miles of my location on Earth

>>61486883
>hurrrr just spend extra money on the transfer fee who cares
What makes you think it's a choice retard?
>>
>>61486856
If your FFL is charging $40 the only excuse is they have an indoor range. Any store with an indoor range is going to have higher prices than a store without them because the fees to use the range aren't enough. You are still getting hosed because picking up your gun has nothing to do with the range, but at least there is some kind of rationale.
If they don't have an indoor range and are charging $40 a transfer they are just jews, sorry.
>>
>>61486916
Uh... no? If you have a faggot state charge then that's one thing but a gun store can transfer your firearms for free if they fucking wanted to.
>>
>>61486933
My LGS has an indoor range and charges $20 for transfers.
>>
>>61486933
The last combination range / FFL I went to had $30 transfer fees or they were waived if you also bought $35 in ammo
>>
>>61486955
That's badass, I don't even have a range to go to in town I gotta go to property out of city limits or an hour away to an indoor range.
>>
>>61486933
They charged more because my state added fees to the FFL doing the transfer, the mandatory wait times requires the guns to be inventoried in the back for 10 business days, recently a new law made charges them an additional 18 dollars per firearm being transfer to use the state’s new background check system which they charge directly to the customer, so it’s 58 dollars a transfer.

The main youtube fatboy cited for the keyholing issue is Rattlesnake Defense who was testing with Federal Syntech 147 or whatever their training ammo is. That's not some random shitty reload. He then tested it with other ammo too and it was still keyholing. Even though it likely effects all pistols, or at least all pistols from that batch, seems the same to me as say a CZ firing pin retaining pin breaking (affects all guns with the right circumstances) or S&W revolver frame flame cutting (affects all aluminum frames or whatever, idk the specifics) or Sig P365 small parts rusting (affects all guns in the right circumstances). These are also the subject of shitposting but are not widely derided or made out to be gamebreaking issues or valid reasons to steer people away from those guns. If the HHD9 only does this with a certain kind of ammo in a certain condition, not just randomly with all ammo in any condition, then it's not surprising hardly anyone talked about it and genuinely WON'T affect the majority of gun owners who don't use whatever that type of ammo is, even if the flaw is everpresent.

I'm still confused at how 2% came out of the woodwork to give DD that number, when forums are not plastered with this happening constantly. Or are they? That seems like an inordinately large number of people who saw the issue, but said nothing about it publicly. idk that just seems weird in 2024 where every little thing is blown up into a hullabaloo. People LOVE to complain for brownie points.

Agreed. I'm a strong advocate for people to boycott companies they don't like. I hate Q, I will never buy one of their products no matter how reddit they make their product names. I don't think we should crucify Burt for his reaction but I do think an issue like that at launch is worth some pause. Especially with a company that's new to an area.

>>61487130
I know that you had that expectation on how people would react but you overestimate the amount of people that can diagnose the cause of an effect. It just came off as gaslighting. I think it's worth letting people know of potential issues but giving them context so they can make their own choice.

To be honest there's a lot of defensiveness and fanboying in the gun community. It's all very macho until you make even a mild criticism of someone's favorite brand and you can see their anus clench on their face. Always found it weird since you'd think with people trusting guns with their lives they would be hyper critical and objective.

What, I don't get to have opinions now?

Using the examples I already gave; CZ75s breaking firing pin retaining pins, Sig small parts rusting and S&W scandium frames getting flame cut, explain to me why your opinion is that H9s misbehaving under apparently rare conditions is so much worse that the entire production needs to be universally condemned or whatever you're advocating. If your opinion is that all of these guns are equally worthy of derision and avoidance then your opinion is inflammatory fringe tier nonsense and you need not answer, just to save you some time.

The projectiles seem to expand and penetrate better in .40 over .45, and most loadings for 10mm are hardly more potent over the .40. The handguns in .40 are cheap, reliable, and everywhere. If you want something for carrying 'on the river', you want a 10mm. Your point about 'common 10mm loads being barely hotter than 40' is retarded because yo won't be loading fucking range ammo in your gun when you're carrying it. You'll be loading proper hot Buffalo Bore/Underwood/etc that significantly outperforms any available 40 load.

So go ahead and buy a 40, a caliber being dropped by literally everyone who isn't snapping up old LEO trade ins, just so you can become another 'it's just as good' cope poster when you inevitably realize you made a compromised poorfag choice but cannot accept accountability and need to invent headcanon to preserve the thin remnants of your frail ego.

Any tradeoffs 40 has vs 9 are so marginal as to be basically irrelevant. Nobody has said this in like ten years, especially not now that 10mm costs the same as 45. You're scraping the barrel now. That anon just shouldn't buy a 10mm, he shouldn't buy any gun, but especially not a 40 just because it was cheap and he's just looking for the ephemeral endorphin rush of clicking 'submit order'. group size is not a linear function of distance; it is exponential
mathematically, we know that variation can be induced by multiple factors
if you get, say, 2% variation (obviously, the real numbers are much smaller, and will vary from element to element, but this is just for illustrative purposes) on your trigger pull, mechanical accuracy, ammunition tolerances, environmental conditions, etc., your “imprecision coefficient” to be multiplied by your distance will be 1.02^n, not (1.02)n, where n is the number of sources of variation

we also know this anecdotally: a group shot at 25 yards will be much bigger than a group shot at 10 yards and then enlarged by 2.5

COMPLETELY ANECDOTAL, but I find the opposite to be true. Longer range targets (15yrs+) I slow down and take my time, shrinking my groups. I have much less confidence in achieving effective hits at those ranges. Closer range I just start blasting trying to keep them in the A zone. At some point the "time" advantage inverts and I start shooting worse while taking more time to break the shot (1 second+). I have also wondered how much the "aim small miss small" aspect comes into this. The A zone is smaller further out (to my eye), and I tend to become more focused, so the group size decreases.

I do completely the opposite type of shooting you do and I think its kind of funny how our habituation to certain shooting techniques leads to very different conclusions about performance with a handgun.

and nice shooting as usual lasorbeam anon. thank you for reading my blog

>>61488247
If you shoot at the A zone, you'll hit somewhere in the vicinity of the A zone. The issue isn't "so anyway, I started blasting" vs "aim small miss small", it's how much sight picture confirmation you need before you send it; at close range, you can just see a red smear on the spot on the target you want the bullets to go, while farther away you want to see the dot (or your irons, whatever) look like a dot (or an equal height, equal light sight picture) first

You need to use the type of dry-fire practice where your middle, ring, and pinky fingers are not wrapped around (pointing the same direction as your thumb) and concentrate on pulling the trigger without moving the barrel.

Until you can do this, it will also cut paper lower and left (or right of you're shooting left handed).

I chopped the magwell down to sk length to share magazines between the two. I live in a mag ban state so the SK mags are unmolested but the mags for the fullsize are a cucked version with nonstandard baseplates.
I also just like long slide/barrel handguns with short mag wells. People have been doing it to Glocks for ages.

I posted a thread or two ago about the same issue. Going to continue dry fire practice. I recently picked up a different handgun and noticed the trigger is much crisper. Would it make sense to try upgrading the 365XL's trigger or just keep at it with the practice?

How many rounds do you have through it? Some triggers are worth swapping out but a lot of people do so before the factory unit is even broken in. An upgraded trigger will almost always be "better" though

Definitely not enough yet. I'll continue to keep at it, I just noticed that including anon posting up above there are others complaining about "sig triggers" - at least in the context of the trigger upgrade reviews I was reading/watching. Could just be them shilling for said trigger upgrades of course.

My shitty abusive uncle died and I was the only one with a gun license in the family (yurop) so I got his beretta 81bb and glock 17 gen 3 od green. The coppers were so dumb they tought the beretta "81BB" was a toy gun due to the BB in the name. I didn't care to correct them so I now have an unregistered pistol to keep stashed away in case shit goes down or they crack down on gun laws.

If you’re bored, take the striker assembly out of your P365XL and look at it. If it has white cups, consider swapping out the assembly for one of the old ones with black cups. You can still find the old ones on armory craft or eBay. I’ve found the old striker assemblies give a spongy, clicky trigger pull, instead of the heavier, more defined trigger pull of the new striker assembly.

Incidentally, I asked Sig on the phone what the reason for the change is to the striker assembly, because it’s a recent change (within the last year), and isn’t related to the tip breakage they had at the very outset. They wouldn’t tell me.

Centurions seem to be cheaper through some old stock people are selling at the old price. Beretta upped the price of the 92X recently. I would suppose around 700 dollars would be the best price you could get, I would order one through your LGS so you don’t have to pay for a transfer unless you want a Centurion (shorter slide, full size grip).

Twitter/X, many Japanese artists, particularly amateurs do not use other sites so stuff is very hard to search for or even catalog. Setting up a new X account to show you nothing but anime girls with guns isn’t hard, you just need to find a few accounts, follow them, like images, and aggressively mute and “don’t show posts like this again” to anything else. Eventually you filter out all current events and get nothing but what you want. It knows when you open up posts and how long you read replies, don’t do that. You’ll get nothing but leftist rage bait. The algorithm excels at giving you shit to get angry about if you let it.

I like seeing Japanese, Chinese, Korean gun autist art. Some have more expensive set ups on their airsoft guns then I do on my rifle

>Definitely not enough yet.

Around 500 rounds you should notice a difference.
And by 1000 it should be broken in.
You should have cleaned and lubed it a couple of times by now.
If after 1000 rounds you still don't like it (and you might not if you've never had a striker fire pistol before ESPECIALLY if you're coming from a 1911 or a revolver) THEN you should consider an upgrade. IMO.
Even then it still may not be up to your expectation.

Mine feels much better, but there's still some creep/grittiness to it.

From the beginning I planned on upgrading the original curve to the Sig flat trigger, but I just wanted to see how this one changed first.

Figure out how much your taxes should be and pay only that amount during the year (to avoid penalties for not paying enough).

Some states will purposely delay your return and there's nothing you can do about it.
The IRS can also do this.

They’re the same thing.

I don’t think one is necessary over a silicon chrome spring. The steel springs wear out and silicon chrome last longer. But it’s only 20 dollars to never need to replace the spring and it makes the take down and reinstall a little bit easier/different
