I wonder if they appreciate the "sovl" underage posters on this board like to go on about.

Turkey has over 750 in service. Hell even Taiwan and South Korea each have hundreds still. The M48 got around.
>>
Its sorta like fighter jets or attack helicopters. Having one puts you waaaay above irregular fighters and to have one that can compete with real militaries requires big money, so why not just use ancient shit if your only real concerns are revolutions?

Plus it just fits with the african poverty aesthetic

No soul, L7/M68 is gay globalist bullshit. The real SOVL is with the 90mm models, an encapsulation of postwar American exceptionalism

France sure loved them, enough to put them on armored cars.

It's even funnier when you realize Hezbollah has T-90's.

Back in Syria when the Russians started fieling T-90's, some of these units were passed to some of the pro-govt militias, Hezbollah was one of them since they were the most competent ones around.

They also got a bunch of T-55's from Lebanon.

Praise be to Allah, the most high. In'shallah, Hezbollah removes the Great Satan from the holy city of Jerusalem, and restores the sanctity of Al' Quds.

not a single M48 or M60 was used in 2003
only a few dozen M60s were present with the Marines in 1991

Yeah I think he's getting mixed up with several things, like the expected mixture of tanks in a cold war gone hot circa like 1982 (M60s trending towards M1s as production ramps up and units complete training) and the use of a few M60s and more importantly M60-chassis-based-vehicles (IIRC like bridge layers and shit) in 1991. By 2003 M60s were completely out of active service. From memory they actually began to remove the M60 from service right after Desert Storm.

The M48 and T-54 are the ultimate tanks. If you asked a child to draw a tank it would like one of those two.

Just like an AK-47 will be relevant 100 years from now, the M48 and T-54 fulfill the basics of a tank; big gun and thick armor.

At absolute best, a costly, very public tank duel in the middle of berlin. If they're lucky, the commander of the tank in question survives to explain it was a mistake, and the incident becomes a very large embarassment.
>>
>>61485985
seemingly everyone has RPGs that can turn it into scrap easily unlike modern tanks thoughbeit
>>
>>61489790
yeah but the only tanks that are rpg proof are expensive. pretty much any WWII tank is gonna be impervious to small arms fire and thats enough

When you strip away the concept that tanks are made primarily for tank-on-tank dogfights, and acknowledge that their real modern enemy is the ATGM and the Drone, they return to their original role - mobile fire support to infantry to clear fortifications and strongpoints.
As the Lebanese Army is never going to go T-on-T with the IDFs Merkavas, and that will be done by Hezbollah with their Iranian ATGMs, their M48 and T55s are more than sufficient for the infantry support role.

And they dont have M48s that's the 1st and 2nd Tank Regiments.
Airmobile does have M113s with a few mounting ZSU-23-2s, and were going to get Bradleys.
