China is the worlds 5th largest arms exporter, and produces some of the best drones out there.

So when is /k/ going to take Chinese weapons seriously?

Does the import ban affect furniture? You'd think with Sureshot and Zenitco shut out of US Market. Chinese clones would start showing up. But chinx seem strangely absent in the tacticool furniture scene, and stick to lights and red dots mostly. Also I hear their SVDs are surprisingly up to snuff

China sells 20 times more military drones than anyone else by number of units then the next closest country (the US). It has over 80% of the commercial drone market. It is true that its traditional fullsized UAVs are generally taken to be inferior to their NATO counterparts. However, they are significantly cheaper, leading countries who can get and afford the US versions to still buy a lot of Chinese ones.

In medium and small drones and loitering munitions the comparison is by no means laughable. It's probably the one area of military tech where China is the leader. Both reports from third parties buying both and those of NATO nations say Chinese small drones and loitering munitions are "as good" at 25-33% of the cost, or simply better.

They sunk lots of money into their commercial firms early and it paid off, such that they dominate the commercial market, which gives them valuable experience and cashflow for R&D and they can attract global talent.

The US and other NATO nations really slept on medium sized drones that can be launched from trucks/pneumatic catapults and small drones. Israel is a bit of an exception, at least for their size.
>>
>>61486298
I begrudgingly respect modern chang small arms development (from about the 80s onward) for being literally the only aspect of Chinese R&D that is actually innovative and not shamelessly copied from someone else

This. And drones are clearly remaking warfare and will do so even more with AI. The US just had its first pilot vs F-16 piloted by AI dogfight session for instance. It isn't that far away.

There is currently a real "drone gap," that we can't afford to sleep on. Particularly with smaller drones and swarms.

>>
>>61487335
Pretty sure the Saudis used some in Yemen (including drones). Their small arms are all over conflicts in Africa. Their 37mm automatic grenade launcher is a rare exception where the Chinese system is widely held to be the best in class, but most of it is still budget option.

The drones are, of course, ubiquitous.

Yeah, gonna need a source, mate.

Also, stop conflating civilian drones with military drones.
You won't be dropping nades on Americans any time soon.
>>
>>61486298
most people do take Chinese stuff pretty seriously. Chinese made AK's are some of the best regarded Kalashnikovs on the US secondhand market, and all the different pre-ban Chinese guns are pretty well-loved, maybe with a few exceptions being the SKS's that got lazily converted to accept AK mags. most American gun enthusiasts would absolutely kill to see Type 97s, QBZ-191s, and new production SKS's come into the US, but that's most likely never going to happen.

some of the legitimate military equipment coming out of China can be a bit of a mixed bag, however. a lot of Chinese artillery, ballistic missiles, AShMs, etc. look pretty formidable, but most of the export weaponry is mediocre, as China seems to keep most of its really high end tech for itself. hence there isn't stuff like the PLZ-05 or the YJ-21 getting sold abroad. only higher end stuff that the Chinese part with are long range SAMs, which they sell to countries like Serbia, Algeria and Myanmar, or their J-10 fighter jet, which has only sold to Pakistan as most other 3rd world militaries instead go with the wish.com F-16 that is the JF-17.

Chinese drones can be hit or miss as well, I don't know much about Chinese military UAVs but even the higher end Chinese commercial drones like DJI have very little (if any) signals encryption which make them very dangerous to use in a life-or-death situation. if I had to use a Mavic in Ukraine I'd only do it in a foxhole or bunker with my controller tethered to a transmission antenna at least 50m away from me. people using commercial (specifically DJI and other Chinese) drones make themselves easy targets for anyone with even very modest SIGINT equipment and counterbattery options.
>>
>>61487335
J-10 is used by a few countries. Pakis use it as their elite fighter above the F-16, although the US claim (cope?) is that this is just busting the US' balls over upgrades. Sudan got some too I think. And then the J-17 is a Chinese designed fighter for the Pakis that is going to be produced there (but it's a budget version). They haven't exported a lot of their higher end stuff. The J-35 would be a big shift in that.

They do sell an export version of the PL-15 with a much reduced range, but that still clears 100 miles and apparently works well. This gives it a decent range advantage over the AIM-120 and puts it in the same ballpark as the brand new 240. If the real PL-15 actually has its listed range it's a distinct advantage for China in some contexts. The PL-21 will boost that to 300-400km, which would be a coup for them if it can hit shit at those ranges, even if it's just J-20s dumping them at AWACS and EW planes that are easy to hit, it allows them to do so and then get out of dodge, back to their SAM umbrella.

>Data from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), which tracks global arms transfers, shows China has delivered some 282 combat drones to 17 countries in the past decade, making it the world’s leading exporter of the weaponised aircraft. By comparison, the United States — which has the most advanced UAVs in the world — has delivered just 12 combat drones in the same period, all of them to France and the United Kingdom, according to SIPRI data

Also:

>In Iraq, authorities say they used Chinese drones to carry out more than 260 air raids against ISIL (ISIS) targets as of mid-2018, with a success rate of nearly 100 percent.

And they're used in Myanmar a lot too, Saudis, etc. They have more of a combat record in diverse contexts than US drones at this point.

Also, we haven't been able to get ahold of Norinco guns (the cool ones at least) in the US since they pulled that stunt in the 90s.

>The US has magical technology that will stop all drones, they will never be an issue for 'murica!!!!
Hmmm, may we see it? If this magical tech works, surely they could share it with Ukraine and stop the deluge of drone attacks from cheap Chinese drones there?

Indeed, if cheap Chinese drones are so easy to counter, the would surely want to help Ukraine by sharing this thing. Funny then how they haven't. It's almost like it doesn't exists and the Abrams will be as prone to being torn apart by FPVs as any other tank in a war.

Based on how literally everything else in US manufacturing has gone I think it's wishful thinking to assume the US firearms industry could long survive the lifting of the import ban on Chinese guns. Well, we keep finding out that US shit, including the F-35, is filled with Chinese components. Since firms have been hit hard with fines for this and been dragged through the mud and before Congress, I think it's fair to say this isn't just about profit margins. They literally can't get the shit to work right without the components because they can't make them themselves. This is what happens when you get rid of your entire industrial base and invest trillions in your rival. Chinese stuff can't all be shit and then American stuff be wunderwaffens, because America keeps using Chinese stuff.

Rheinmetall Expal Munitions, S.A.U. of Madrid is a world-renowned ammunition and armament manufacturer specialised in artillery ammunition, mortar and medium calibre rounds as well as fuzes and rocket propulsion systems. In many cases, Expal's ammunition products are produced as “full shot”, from propellant to fuse.

From what little i’ve read/heard about it, it was just a rumor based upon the fact that the the tigrs apparently dont have that part present in the trigger group whereas the military spec svds still do.
Much ado about nothing in my opinion
>>
>>61489643
The 86s has a perfectly fine trigger. It's not great but it's hardly holding back practical accuracy, especially given the mediocre sights and short sight radius. The QBZ trigger is actually really light, but a relatively long pull with a weird linear hammer dropping that feels almost like an open bolt - but doesn't knock the gun around the same way an actual open bolt gun would.

I’m not white and I had a buddy in high school who also wasn’t white. He confided in me that he wished he was white, and I felt nothing but disgust. How could you have such an inferiority complex to wish you were white?

He was Asian btw.

Your mom sucks 20 times more cock than anyone else, that doesn't mean she's not fucking terrible at it, she's just cheap and eager to sell
>>
Only chink gun I have is a lever shotgun that was covered in burrs when I got it and I had to file a bunch of shit down. It works fine now, but I did so much work on it that it's more American-made than chink made at this point

Pretty sure it's just luck of the draw + break in period. Also, it says "MADE IN ZHONG CHANG CHINGCHONG FACTORY" in big letters on the left side, which sucks

QBZ > 86s but not by much. Not like they were designed for the same markets though. The QBZ is a military rifle first, designed for domestic use and foreign contracts. The 86s was just an American commercial market exclusive designed to get American consumer dollars before the chinks for their shit banned. Afaik they were never sold outside the US, and we only got 2000 or so of them.

Nobody is buying that shitty rifle.
I remember RPG's I used in SE Asia were soviet heads with Chinese propellant sticks.

Countries are buying grenades, launchers, artillery.
>>

What country are you from? theres no way you are american if you have a type 97, unless you got it illegally or paid like 5k for it. Philippines?
