It is an undeniable fact that wooden stocks, grips, guards and forearms on any firearm make them the most attractive and aesthetically pleasing.
>>61502712So how about you post an actual wood stock instead of a plastic one with a few bits of veneer glued on?
>>61502712>>61502739>>61502763>>61502793wood stock and handguard looks good but wood grips look awful
>>61502712Yes
Patrollin' the Mojave almost makes you WISH for a nuclear winter!

I normally don't care much for a guns looks but there's something about wood that i just cant put my finger on that makes it stand out and I don't know why.
>>61504212>something about wood I can't put my finger onBeautiful grain and (sometimes) CHATOYANCY. Wood is beautiful. Plastic cannot compete. The closest it gets is beautiful resins, bakelite (think A1 grips, old radios), and AG4 (russian bakelite, as in "bakelite" AK mags) where some have depth and maybe partial (faux?) chatoyance. And we don't even make bakelite or AG4 anymore. Best we can really get is resin with a bunch of junk added and swirled nylon imitating wood with a woodgrain texture.t. struggling to not bring home rejects and random junk from local places which have free wood piles with hardwood and curly wood mixed in
Reddit guns: The thread.
>>61502712>this nigga glued fucking veneer on his polymer stockUnironically disgustingI will await some anon to post my rifle as is inevitable in these threads, I know one of you faggots has it saved and it gives me satisfaction.
>>61504289>Best we can really get is resin with a bunch of junk addedI thought the chatoyance comes from the varnish, which nowadays is mostly resin anyways.

>>61503638I own a home, have a wife and child, I have wood guns. My bills are paid, my house is in order, and I'm well respected at my white collar job. I play vidya for a bit almost every night.
>>61502872>the 24 year old wrapper>i'm gonna... wrap!
>>61506834Actually no; Chatoyance comes from the fibers in the wood itself. If you sand and scrape "curly" or "figured" wood which has been cut in the right orientation, it shimmers naturally, albeit dependent on luck and wood species for the grain to have grown in a way that causes waves and curls and burls in the wood. Finishes can add or detract from that shimmer. I found this site last night and I've never been so happy to find someone's autistic-tier research on a subject. Chatoyance and finishing for it really seems to often be "lol play around and see what looks best" which bugs me as there are thousands upon thousands of ways to finish wood between sanding, sanding between coats, grit used in each process of finish, whether to scrape the surface or not, amounts of coats for finish, and even mixing finishes (base and top coat). This kind of huge in-depth research was exactly what I've been looking for.https://www.chatometry.com/
Is there anywhere I can go for custom wooden furniture for niche guns? I’d like to get a dragunov style stock in walnut for my grifone
i like wood with gun in it
>>61503496Fallout 3 was a better game
>>61502832>this looks badt. you
>>61502712Wood on a gun is just swell.
i demand wooden bullets
How the fuck did I forget this existed? AFAIK this is the only pic of this Chinese M16 clone (in 7.62x39?). Neat gun. Kinda want. Maybe I should buy a spike bayo for a will-attempt-a-clone-in-the-next-30-years "just in case" next time I see one cheap.
>>61508239Based taste, it really shouldn't that hard to make for a woodworker.>>61510663I had a can full of them in 7,62 nato, they were used by my father in training during his conscription.
I still love the look of this IKEA-quality stock, but it will 100% explode if I try to actually use it.Also the only time I've ever burnished something, it's definitely neat
>>61503638>Does thing literally every single adult does>Somehow thinks it's some huge impressive thing >"I don't play video games! I have a house and everything like a real big boy!"For some weird reason you think super highly of yourself because you've managed to do what literally everyone else with a property tax bill has done years ago you muppet.
Flame Birch is the prettiest wood that stocks can be made from.I wish it was more popular and readily available.
