Did it live up to the hype? This was shilled for a while in the thread and I notice it’s actually in stock on Silencershop. Should I cop and take advantage of short wait times? I could pick up this and a B&T SF hub mount and still come under the price of an rc2 with no tax stamp.
>>
Good news, if at anytime spiritus won't ship an item after they send you a shipped notification plus a tracking number, all you have to do is initiate a charge back request through your bank and email them requesting a refund after usps can corroborate than nothing has shipped but they have only paid the postage/printed the shipping label.

Anon, the things airsoft is useful for in training are the teamwork, communications, and situational awareness aspects. It is only marginally more useful than dryfire for some tactile skills, and less productive than dryfire in some skills.

You don't need to actually shoot anything at anyone to develop those skills, and you develop tactile skills with live rounds or dryfire to ensure good habits.

Any time the heart rate goes up in training it can be useful, you don't need airsoft to do that either.

Rifle cannot harm you until it is gassed back up, at that point you are either pointing at a target and safety is off or you are coming off target and its going safe.
Safety is off when you have made the decision to obliterate something, safety is on when that process is completed.

get a laser range finder that has features like 'incline compensated distance' to calculate the range to a drone while adjusting for it's high angle. This will at least put you in the ballpark if you have to try and shoot one down. Rule of thumb is if you must aim 30 degrees above the horizon, the distance you should dial for is now 10% range to target
>so a 200y target gets dialed for 180
Every 15 degrees above that, dial range gets reduced another 20%
>45* = 70%
>60* = 50%
>75* = 30%
>90* aka straight above you = 10%

So if a drone is hover 100y above you, you need to aim at it accounting for your HOB at 10y

The priority here is drones with a payload that get close enough to engage, not surveillance drones at higher altitudes. Decent LRFs have scanning features where you can hold down the 'range' button and it pings back with distances. Lasing a drone that's close enough to shoot is actually easier bc you'll know exactly when it hits the drone, every other ping will come back as out of range/etc

Also, of course it's fucking tricky bro. First you have to get lucky enough to detect and identify it, then you have to actually hit it while being able to track and adjust if the drone changes elevation. No shit it's difficult, this is one of the preeminent threats on the battlefield for a reason. But a $200 dollar LRF is a pretty accessible tool (that many already have) which could greatly increase your chance taking one down. Also products like smart shooter that build firing solutions into the optic, super effective based on the demo they did for us, but potentially cost-prohibitive and not readily available. They even have drone mounted solutions in 5.56, 7.62 (and 40mm though not applicable here) designed to engage other drones. low key terrifying

SMASH and similar are borderline scam products sold by a specific tribe. The trend of tactics is one of ISR vectoring various strike+payload munitions onto targets. Time on target is being reduced by the day and being driven by pseudo autopilot softwares (litchi, mission planners, etc) that can be fed coords from ISR and immediately drop and go no cumbersome human 1x observation and tilting around. If you have enough time to spot, lase and start shooting at a UAS with any small arms configuration the pilot is asleep at the wheel. Its akin to "well if you climb onto of an abrams you could X" tier posting.

Ask yourself why all the SMASH demos are like a phantom 4 hovering at pissing distance or moving at 1/3 speed before being btfo. Zero observation portion of the engagement loop as well kek.

Because PSA boughr H&R, threw some money at them to stay afloat, and then fucked off and let them do their thing. H&R guns are not PSA guns.

Say what you want about PSA and their garbage rods, the people that run that company seem to be solid dudes.

Wasnt going to berate you about that lol
>Idk, did the facilities you saw demos at allow them to actually put drones/targets out far enough?
Its simply a non solution designed to give people something for morale. Thing eats batteries with a slow boot time as well. By the time the strike payload is on you its too late to turn that shit on and start scanning. Most people are REALLY bad at finding drones based on even audio signatures. God help you if I fly that shit with my back to the sun. Or fog. Or rain. etc etc

The solutions are holistic, not some bolt on doodad you can spend your way out of.

I fucked around with a 13.7" when I was in my gas maxing phase and I will tell you its a gimmick. Its nice as a soft shooting toy but it lacks any sort of defining utility.

Looks like the two have similar accuracy, except AAC is the benefactor of price and availability over IMI. The jury's still out on reliability, but our resident insider suggests the latest production has them underloaded to remedy the blown primer (chamber pressure) issue

Am I retarded or is the eform system more confusing than the old system. I just “certified” at the shop and made a atf account. Is there another step? How do I know when I get my stamps back? Are there still physical stamps?

Closest thing would the fourth food group of shorter .308 rifles like a mk17 sbr.

no physical stamps.
process is super easy. fill out form, submit photo ID and fingerprints. Wait 2 days.

its shorter than 14.5 and not as annoying as 11.5 without a can.
modern 5.56 rifles are in the 12-14” barrel range.

I support getting cheap shit from them. If I'm going to fund their larp I want to at least get some advantages from it, may as well be a little war profiteering
>>
Doesn't matter if you have a bull barrel and bipod, your gun will never be suitable for an LMG role if it isn't cycling with an open bolt
>>
>>61594489
Yes, the only way to mitigate this is as other anons halfassedly said angle it down, not that helpful if the steel is already cratered, remember that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure saying, distance - depending on caliber say most rifle rounds the manufacturers will tell you to shoot the steel at 100yards if you do t want to start dimpling the shit out of your targets. It's a real concern, the idiot who said too much final destination is an idiot, little bit of frag to your face or eye is all it takes to ruin your week/life. Help yourself by getting some ballistic rated safety glasses they can be 3 dollars whatever ounce of prevention vs pound of cure. If your target is already a bit dimpled see if you can resurface it, take a grinder to it and flatten it out do what you can

what's amazing to me is guys who build rifles like this, and get hazed super hard over it, almost never have the brains to just sell their cringe components or even the entire rifle and just rebuild into something less cringe. It's not that hard, I don't understand it

>The solutions are holistic
we can agree on this. Most dudes don't have facepaint or fuck with scrim. Most dudes think encryption means you don't need codes/ciphers - the holistic stuff like you said. I agree that if you need a firing solution for drones it's probably (definitely) too late. Still, knowledge is power. Angle vs distance calculations could also be applied to hunting, and while the circumstances are incredibly rare, just shows that drones aren't the only thing that benefits from esoteric ballistic knowledge

>>61595150
whoa, do not look to me as a gauge for accuracy. Those groups were done with a milspec trigger and Viper at 6x magnification. better trigger/scope and you'd probably see the Razorcore pull ahead

the H&R stuff uses completely different logistics as other PSA stuff as well, and all products are autistically checked by the owner of H&R to make sure they don't suck ass. H&R heems all other retro shit rn pretty hard on price and quality

It's less than an inch from 14.5 and doesn't have much loss/gain fps. If you're already pinning and welding to 16 why not get more compressed package?
