Nobody recommending "Templar's Gear" can be taken even a little bit seriously.

I think Whiskey Two Four's Plate Carrier 24 should be added to the carrier list. It's really underrated. Let it take the K19's place on the infographic.

People really need to explain the whole milspec thing better. The made by the lowest bidder thing iß a fuddism that needs to die. People cry over losing a Patagonia pcu piece auction or muh Cryer or die g3 pants Boi. It's like ar15's, milspec absolutely has a meaning but people don't know it so cheapo companies cloning shit with trash qc pump out a bcg that's shaped like a high quality colt or fn milspec bcg that's been shot peend hp and mpi tested but it's a turd same thing with textiles, these fucks probably only half assembly try to get their Moller slots 1" apart with shitty thread and shoddy stitching eyeball it and say yeah thats about the milspec meanwhile they're not using any of the correct materials so even if it was perfectly manufactured it'd be made of shit. They should be held accountable in a properly explained way so that idiot chumps can understand.

>>
There actually are US mil-spec nylons, elastic, hook/loop, thread, etc. The materials themselves have to meet certain standards, plus the dying/printing process.

For example, the product:
The spec:

This is why a lot of nylon gear made in China or made with Chinese materials feels off and glows under IR. The materials aren't made to mil-spec standards.

"Mil-spec" can be meaningless depending on context, but in and of itself is neither bad nor good.

The specs on question are usually public record. If the product lists the specs it meets, that's good.
"Muh lowest bidder" means fucking nothing as long as the item meets the published specs, which it had to if they got the contract. In fact it's usually a good thing.
>>
>>61903742
So just look up the specs

BUT its importance tends to be heavily overstated by people without a lot of experience especially

I think a good test for IR reflectivity is to put the item outside in the grass or up against a bush or tree, stand back 15 yards and then light it up. Something that looks quite reflective in your bedroom 3 feet away might not look so bad under different conditions and distance.
>>
>>61905856
>>61905944
We'll never know unfortunately, the UCP gigachad and affording nods are mutually exclusive
>>
>>61906122
50 or 100 yards (if not further) is a more realistic test of what a potential enemy would see when they spotlit you with an illuminator

And yeah at that distance it quickly becomes unnoticeable.
>>
>>61906122
>>61906138
Good points. I was just a bit shocked (too strong of a word) when I looked down at myself and the dark green jacket had white spots all over it. This was even without any active IR. Granted, numerous things will turn white under night vision from my experience and like you both said how does it really look at distance and/or with being lit up.
>>
>>61906159
Another thing that I think a lot of anons don't consider is how many things in nature also reflect IR light.
If someone shines an illuminator over you in a field of wet vegetation and it reflects back everywhere except a human-silhouette-shaped black spot, you're getting shot lol.

I guess my point is that the NIR thing is a lot more situational than anons give it credit for, and having non-NIR clothing isn't an automatic death sentence. But again it definitely CAN (but not always) be a solid indicator of the quality of the materials used to make a piece of gear.

There are certain things to watch out for. Like this guy's patch. That would probably get him killed.
>>
>>61906229
For sure but that patch was literally designed to literally glow under nods

Textile fabrics that reflect IR light aren't in the same ballpark, I would argue, and people are constantly saying that those things "glow under nods".
>>
>>61906229
That is an ir reflective patch. I'm a larper but if there are people with nods looking for you there is zero chance they don't get you. They also most likely would use thermal as well. I'm not sure there is any rational scenario where an anon stands a chance against a coordinated professional force. Nir is not important imho.

>all high-end are NIR treated anyway
Not necessarily, I have some arcteryx and patagonia stuff that definitely gets lighter under IR but more or less I agree with you and that was sort of my point.

If you buy nice stuff then it's likely going to be NIR anyway. Something not being NIR doesn't necessarily mean it's not nice, but something that's not nice is probably going to not be NIR.

I feel like I'm losing the thread here a bit lol but hopefully I'm still conveying my thought coherently

Imagine thinking any organization with high end NODs is actually your 'opposition' lmao. Are you a self hating domestic terrorist bent on the destruction of your own nation? No? Then the only threats you even have to consider are 'chaotic forces', eg rioters/gangs/criminals who are NOT going to be stacked with NVD and shit, or the even more insanely unlikely scenario of foreign military forces which, again, we've seen how poorly equipped our foreign adversaries are. Not a threat.

The whole 'UN death squad' thing is a retarded meme pushed by foreign agitators and latched onto by schizos to drive division in our communities. Stop falling victim to it. Take pride in being a resourceful, self sufficient, productive member of your community and nation and let us all rise together. Fuck.
>>
>>61906602
There is literally no disadvantage to operating under the assumption that your opposition has access to night vision, retard-kun, especially in 2024.
Plenty of US mil units in the GWOT days of "lasers always on strobes always on" learned the hard way that any clever insurgent with a digital camera could use those emissions to find and blow up their position.

Do you feel like bought vision and digital cameras are more or less common now than they were 2 decades ago?
>>
>>61906657
>There is literally no disadvantage to operating under the assumption that your opposition has access to night vision
Yeah that's entirely reasonable. I mainly think it's a silly thing to get really hung up on. If it comes to it, I'll be taking rattle cans to all my shit anyway and it's Gucci-mess will not matter.

I think it's good for buyers to be informed, if for no other reason than to set the norms for manufacturers and retailers to provide good information to customers about what they're getting.

One million percent agree, which is what I've been driving at with a lot of these posts I've been making. It's just not something I worry about. Most of my gear is NIR compliant because I buy nice stuff but if a piece of gear isn't I by no means think it's going to be life-or-death lol
And like you said, if it seems like it MIGHT be life-or-death then spraypaint solves it

I saw them too but for the most part I see guys with pcs, at most pcs with addon dick flaps and neck, I guess they use whatever they have, since they don't have standard gear anymore basically, a mix of foreign aid, private purchases, donations, and issued gear, but in general armor carriers are more expensive and hard to come by than a pc and and a couple plates, but I havent seen any western armor carr in videos, like IOTVs or equivalents

>>
what's the use case for a woobie/swagman roll?
>>
>>61908244
Seems like they do PCs with soft side armor etc
Which makes sense to me. My 6094 with IIIa panels achieves a pretty similar level of coverage to an IOTV while being significantly more comfortable and allowing for way more mobility.

IOTVs are great if you're static or working out of a truck but if you're moving that shit starts to suck very fast.
>>
>>61908274
>Woobie
It's an almost weighless blanket that packs up very small, which makes for a good insulating layer while sleeping on the ground/in a ranger grave or while in a static position while it's cold.

>swagman roll
I guess the same as above but you can wear it. Personally I don't see the appeal from a combat/tactical perspective other than maybe pulling static security while it's cold but it seems like it would be really nice for sitting at camp or whatever. As a warm layer over/under kit I don't think it's super practical, personally.

Just get an AWS LAB, no panels, and OneWrap pouches to it.

>>
>>61908244
Sometimes I wish I got Baltics for extra protection but at the same time its more annoying to store and move. I can get all my gear into a large duffle and its a tight fit as is. armor carriers have a much wider coverage than PCs, the sides are bigger than a cummerbund and hug your body more under the armpits, the shoulders straps are frag proof too, the torso has a bigger coverage than a plate's surface, even without addons an armor carriers gives much more thorough protection from shrapnel than a PC, even one with cummerbund soft inserts
>>
>>61908304
yeah I see it as a less constricting sleeping bag for mild cold, but in colder climates you need a proper sleeping bag, one way you could try to get around it since being mummified in a bag might be bad if you need to act quickly in a combat zone would be to sleep in a full lvl7 jacket + pants and plus up with a woobie, when you hike you can just bring a jacket and then use the bag for comfier sleep
>>

>14.When you encamp at night, fix your centries in such a manner as not to be relieved from the main body till morning, profound secrecy and silence being often of the last importance in these cases. Each centry therefore should consist of six men, two of whom must be constantly alert, and when relieved by their fellows, it should be done without noise; and in case those on duty see or hear any thing, which alarms them, they are not to speak, but one of them is silently to retreat, and acquaint the commanding officer thereof, that proper dispositions may be made; and all occasional centries should be fixed in like manner.

I'm aware, I wore an IOTV while I was in and it fucking sucked lol.
>>
>>61908397
cool shit but how does it related to the sleeping bag thing?
you mean that would be a situation where you use the lvl7+ woobie/just woobie vs a sleeping bag?
>>
>>61908468
NTA but sleeping bags are generally a no-go in an NPE because you're sleeping in full kit and don't want your feet trapped fighting to get out if shit pops off.

So yeah lvl 7 over kit plus woobie and something to keep you off the ground is probably as comfortable as it's gonna get.
>>
>>61908478
I get that but if you're in some cold ass place where it's -20/30C -4/22F would it still be adequate?
it's not that unrealistic an hypothesis, in Ukraine it gets around that in winter, and theres plenty other places where it does too, like high altitude mountains
>>
>>61908504
Again it's a question of the mission more than anything.
Very rare to be in a sleeping bag exposed in any of the situations we're talking about. In ukraine in the winter those dudes are posted up in fortifications whenever possible and/or I would guess bivvied up in a foxhole when not while there's a round-the-clock 360° watch.

More likely you're layering up into effectively a snowsuit and bundling up with blankets though, maybe under a tarp in a hole. And the reality is that it's going to be super uncomfortable and you're going to get really shitty sleep for a as long as that's the environment you're in, which hopefully means regular rotations out and effectively going without quality sleep for a couple days at a time until you can get to a position where you can get adequate shelter and ok sleep.

Obviously it's not sustainable long-term, and trying to sustain it long-term WILL lead to casualties.
>>
>>61908554
I might see guys sleeping in the dugouts underground, or on the side "rooms" carved in the trenches walls or wherever it's not the "road", anyway yes the setup seems to be lower layers+lvl7+woobie+bivy if necessary, that's if you're stationary, if you'll be moving you'll get hot as fuck, but if you're occupying a trench you'll be stationary most of the time, at most you'll be running if you're attacked, and usually assault units aren't holding trenches, unless it's the ones they took waiting to be relieved
>>
I'm downsizing (selling) my pack inventory to consolidate around only one pack for each role, have tried the ones I own for multiple rucks and made up my mind on what I need

>day pack
eagle beavertail: good design, nice for fair weather short events KEEP

mr 3dap: looks cool, decent/good design KEEP

camelbak BFM type French surp with side pockets: good design, plenty of space for longer durations, it's the bridge between a ruck and an assault pack, got very large volume with the side pouches KEEP

camelbak mule: nice pack for short events in nicer weather, the main compartment zipper sucks bc it only opens 3/4 of the way, it's in marpat desert so it looks cool and its rarer but its redundant MIGHT SELL

>rucks
mr SATL: very good pocket design and carrys weight well, futura yoka adjustment is top tier KEEP

ILBE: decent pack but no external pockets and top access means you got to dig everything out of it, side zippers dont help much, it's got a lide tho, too many straps flopping around even if you use the elastics, heavy as fuck even compared to the others (which are heavy too being military packs) SELL

mr m25: it's like a scaled down version of the 6500/tactiplane, as all mr holds weight very well, narrower and taller than a SATL, but its proportions make what was a very good design a poor one bc the sleeping bag compartment doesnt hold shit unless it's a summer bag, and the narrower main compartment makes fitting a winter bag extremely tight, while the satl can fit one easily even tho it takes up most of the space SELL

platatac spur: cool pack and design, I'll have to try it again with weights in bc the last time it was digging in my shoulders a bit but I might have adjusted it wrong, cool design but it's a bit redundant, might keep it just for the coolness and collection MIGHT SELL

for the big ruck role I'm thinking of the mr tactiplane/6500/blackjack 100, the tactiplane being much cheaper, another option is the beartooth 80 with its 270 zipper design

The rest are OVER $9,000!
Understandable since it’s a prototype pattern.

Well i was kinda wondering if the 3+ plates and balc insert would stop M855. I haven't found any tests on these particular plates.
>>
>>61913422
That’s good to know since 5.11 is pretty great gear.
>>
>>61913530
What kind of test have these plates been done with?

Does Krydex glow under NV? How about Amazon chink Spiritus knockoff pouches?

glow is unimportant you could wear a giant safety vest

Make no mistake, the name is cringe. Do I have to get a Punisher dust cover now?
>>
>>61914321
nothing glows under night vision. some materials reflect active ir illumination more than other materials.
do you really think an adversary would just be randomly waving around an ir illuminator hoping they see you? no one operates or trains like this. if someone is using ir illumination in your direction, they already know or have reason to believe you are there and they will notice you whether you're wearing treated materials or not.

Almost all Chinese made gear will glow under IR. There are few that claim to use genuine Crye Multicam fabrics (Emerson has a few items where they claim this). I have no idea if it's genuine Multicam or not.

UR-Tactical sells clothing and gear made by Optimal Performance System (OPS) located in Hong Kong, and they do use genuine fabrics and other materials. They're the only Asian company I'm aware of that definitely uses genuine textiles for manufacturing their products.
>>
>>61913535
hey, whatever floats your boat, what will matter in the end is quality of work done on the product. I opt for the higher tier, personally.

I am having an autistic moment. My friend gave me her friends number but i dont know how to start talking to her.
>>
>>61916091
Does your friend have a BF?
If so, talk to your friend about a double date to the range, then text her about it.
And don't make her shoot anything above a 22 if she doesn't want to.
>>
>>61916101
Double date is a good idea mental to start with a gun date. Getting cross faded and roller skating double date is the far better choice.
>>
>>61916110
Well she won't be worried about you shooting her if someone else is there, a woman is the best wingman because woman look to other women for approval of men, and if she's anti-gun there's no point to even being around her.
>>
>>61916119
Women will be pro anything if they like you but they have to like you first. Start natural and fun once she your hooks are in its game over for her own thoughts.
>>
61915864
You are really annoying. Chances are, you are autistic (more so then the usual lot here) and are incapable of realizing that
If you want to talk about gear you like, do so in a way that isn't just you repeating the same shit like a mongoloid. If no one cares then move on.
You aren’t contributing to any real discussion by just saying how much you love digital camo and ucp. We get it, you cant buy a gun and have no interest in gear past the superficial level, so you fixated your autism on the cheapest and most available surplus. Cool, but we do not care. If you don’t get that then you might as well kill yourself now.
>>
>>61916101
She does but he lives out of state going to med school.
A double date would be nice i think. I was dating my ex for 3 years and it feels like i dont know how to start again. I make friends easy enough in person but ive never done dating apps so starting a connection through text feels weird.

Looking for a placard flapped mag pouch shingle that fits both AR and AK mags. I’ve heard the double AR pouches fit AK mags too is that true? Currently looking at the wtfix double duty M4 placard. Are there any others?
