I'm an admitted nogunz but I've been lurking /k/ for a few months now as well as reading a ton of material. My buddy took me to a range and I fired his Springfield XD and Glock 43x. They were okay but I didn't like how they felt in my hand. At a gun store, I finger fucked every handgun they had and a gen 5 Glock 19 and a USP Compact felt the best in my hand. I am gonna test them at a range later but is a used version of those a good first gun? I would like to only take it to the range until I feel comfortable enough to CC it. I guess my fear is 1) FOMO or 2) a better gun for newbies that will lessen the chances of me building bad habits

Thanks in advance!

only 25 after all this time

I was just pointing out the hypocrisy for trying to attack beretta anon for reposts (despite not reposting a single time that thread) and then turn a blind eye to their sacred femboy (FTM?)

what's wrong with reposting if done in moderation? It's not like we can buy new guns and take new pictures of them every single thread.
>>

Didn't read.

>and then turn a blind eye to their sacred femboy (FTM?)
I'm pretty sure most of HG has turned against her.
>>
>>61936998
A DA/SA like the USP (I advise something cheaper and more modern) would prevent bad habits since you can practice with a hard DA pull and also practice a decent SA pull. DA/SA guns are very safe since when you holster the gun you can press your thumb up against the hammer, DA/SA guns need to pull the hammer back to fire and so when you're holstering you're holding the hammer down preventing the gun from going off even if there was something on the trigger. It's not a meme people shooting themselves while holstering, it's a very dangerous task and you should not get complicit. DA/SA guns always give you this layer of safety when holstering hammer down.

Buy what you like, being enthusiastic about your gun is very important IMO. Never own a gun you hate.

I already have a Beretta Tomcat and maybe 100 rounds of .32 but I never shoot it because .32 is so expensive locally and my Tomcat will crack if I shoot it too much

I got it for free so I’m not gonna turn it down but I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy one. Maybe an Inox one if I really wanted one. I pocket carry it because it’s small but something like an LCP would be the better gun for the size

When holstering hammer cocked, move the holster leggy inwards so if it goes off you don't shoot yourself in the leggy

Is 599 reasonable for a S&W Model 10 with a round butt and a +P barrel? I tried to look up the serial number but it seems to but checking manufacture date is a shitshow. Always wanted this model but already got a GP100 so it's hard to justify. Don't own any S&W tho. It's got a hillary hole unfortunately. Not sure if it's a classic line.. not crazy about the combat sights but it's also neat.

Any Anon ever fire a Korth revolver?
>>
I went to the gun store and finger fucked a couple Beretta APX A1's. The basic A1 made me question why it exists. I can't think of anything it does that some other striker doesn't do besides being optics ready (although plate must be purchased separately). However, the compact tactical felt pretty juicy and "feature packed" and I really like the ODG frame. Somehow felt less cheap in the hand than the regular, I dunno why. Anyways, anyone own one of these in any version ? Thoughts ? The rebate ends in a month or so and it feels like a potential deal.

Yes, but not a nu-Korth shitter. It's glorious and defies the laws of physics, being significantly lighter than a 686 but kicking far less with hotter rounds, and the trigger is uma delicia.

Shoots very nice, almost as flat as the full sized with a threaded barrel and 3 mags. The modularity is almost useless since no one makes grip frames for them at all and in order to fit your receiver parts into a new gun, you'd have to spend as much as a whole separate gun.
I'd go for one if I didn't already have my full of striker guns.

Both are good choices, and both of anon's replies are spot on. I would add that personally I think HKs in general and USPs in particular are considerably overpriced for what they are and you could find another compact DA/SA for less, but that negates you choosing between those two.

If you don't intend to carry the gun I would suggest skipping a compact and buy a full size. If you are adamant about sticking to those two choices then bump it up to a Glock 17 or HK USP 9mm rather than the compacts. If you haven't tried a S&W M&P M2.0 do that too, they're great.

BOX magazines work in 84s, right?
>>
>>61937349
Well, it depends on your budget I guess. Allegedly (I haven't tried them) they're still high-end, but the price to performance ratio is kinda bad. And there's some terribad tacky shit in the new lines, literal CS:GO tacky-ass skin level.
The old ones however are unobtanium, especially the god-tier series (26xxx-27xxx) has been made in <400 pieces, the godder-tier series (28xxx) in <200 pieces. 21xxx-23xxx are still demigod tier but they came before major upgrades, though about 500 of those were made so they're a little less unobtanium.

You're getting way more aerosolized lead from the lead styphnate-based primers than from the base of the bullet, and if you're only shooting handguns and don't need a cheekweld you can just wear the half-face respirator with P100 filters that you bought during the pandemic and make the whole "inhaled lead" issue even more moot without having to buy special ammo.
PS unless your range's ventilation system is literally non-functional or you're burning 1000 rounds a day your main lead poisoning vector will be eating/drinking or touching your face while your hands and clothes are contaminated with gunshot residue—wipe your hands with LeadOff wipes and take a shower when you get home and your lead levels shouldn't be an issue.

Yeah I know it's similar to the P2000 since I own both, I was just messin'. That's rough about the P8, but weren't those bundeswehr surplus? Even if unfired or fired a little bit. My first thought looking at that pic is it got thrown around in an armory or something.

That brings me to a genuine question for you though. HKs are made more cheaply than you would think, and you can see clues of this in pics like your collage. But they're also known to be some of the most durable pistols out there. Maybe I'm off here, but they seem a cut above the rest in terms of longevity. What gives? Is it all in the barrel? Did they out-Glock Glock?

You're welcome. Be prepared for starting auction prices of 9k EUR for the ones in .22 lurr, 10k for those in .22 Mag "mit Wechselwalze im Kaliber .22 l.r." (="with interchangeable cylinder in .22 lurr) and 11-12k for those in .357 Mag. They'll all be used and have some scratches so check the pictures thoroughly, be best to inspect them in person if an auction is within range (which I realize is easier here than it is in the US). There are no "factory new" ones of those series, anyone claiming otherwise is a liar, the few really untouched ones went for 30 to 90 grands depending on model and have all been sold. I keep autistic records on their status because a friend of my grandpa's knew Willi in person.
Also if you see one of those series for less than 9-10k starting price it means it's one of the defective ones (Ausschuss, these still retain value as collectibles but can't be shot without replacing parts hence killing the collectible value) or that it already had parts changed over the years (even worse, collectible status is kill).

>>
>>61937805
>I'd heard those were pretty doodoo.
You heard wrong, but if you do get one make sure it comes with the original carry handle and integrated sights, and tripod if you're lucky. It's not that those that come without are shit but what is the purpose of buying one if it doesn't have the original pieces? I don't get it. The original integrated sights (both the 1.5x and 3x) are very good by the way and the gun is very accurate and precise. The only downside is that it takes H&K mags, you can convert it to accept whatever but that somewhat kills the purpose of buying such a particular weapon in my opinion.

Dude. Your inability to use DA is literally a skill issue, they do make a few 92 variants you can cock and lock now. Getting good with the DA is super easy, just dry fire, you just pull the trigger over and over not needing to reset anything.

Eotechs work much like Acogs even after getting shot. You're paying for the indestructibility.
>>
Why do some handgun sights not have dots on the rear sight? Wouldn't that negative impact how quickly you can line up shots?
>>
>>61941302
If it ever causes me problems I'll just get another slide. Ironically will probably spend more on that if that day ever comes than the whole rest of the pistol lol
>>61941303
>Slav guns
I have always had an interest in Tokarev's, but I never had any interest in the round as counterintuitive as that may be. So my choice was a Norinco Tok or a Zastava M70A and typically both of those go for $350-400, I was shocked when I saw I won that.
>>
>>61941347

Can you provide an example?
>>
That's not exactly how irons work sometimes and I've shot plenty of pistols that didn't have zeroes lined up with the dots.
>>
>>61941326
I am failing to see the difference since there is literally zero difference.

its personal preference, i havent found that it affects accuracy. you dont want to be looking at the rear sights anyway.

It's simple. Daniel Defense makes African American guns, because they're in Georgia. All Kel-tecs are Cuban because they're made in Florida. Triple K makes their shit in California, so anything from them is gay and socialist. Ruger makes sandy Mexican guns in their Arizona factory and NASCAR guns lubed with sweet-tea at their Mayodan facility. Smith & Wesson makes democratic guns for Americans in Massachusetts. Sig Sauer makes German and Swiss cuisine from Indian ingredients, which makes their guns Jewish. HK, socialist. Walther, socialist. Tisas makes Muslim guns dripping in starch and sugar. This is day-1 stuff for an gun enthusiast, anon.

where my siggas at?

no but really, I wouldn't buy any of their striker fired guns. I like their hammer fired ones...but not stock..

graygun SRT, hammer strut, adjusted trigger (els system).. then it's good to go, favorite handguns. stock sigs feel pretty trash, but with those mods they are pretty nice.

>>
>>61941668
>Is it going to shoot my balls off like a 320?
no, I don't think so. There is one lawsuit open rn that alleges that a P938 fired when dropped, but I'm pretty suspect of that case.

Also, my cat knocked mine off the desk yesterday and it was fine. Landed sideways though.

The EOKEK pistol red dot is notoriously fragile and shit, which is why you never see them posted anywhere. Stop slobbing on [BRANDO] knob. If you fags ever actually used firearms, then you'd know Holosun makes fantastic red dots. It's fine to not like a brand for whatever reason or preference, but the idea that some espouse that Holosun are shit simply because they don't cost double and have US government contracts is laughable at how uninformed and mindlessly consoomerist it. Quite literally consumer fetishism.
>>
>>61941668
>Is it going to shoot my balls off like a 320?
Gee anon idk, is an entirely different firearm design that shares nothing in common with the P320 and uses a completely different type of mechanism going to have the same problem? Do you even think about the words you're typing?

unless you like their "special" finishes like the legion or scorpion, stay away from all those "upgraded" models. beaver tails are dumb on the p226, doesn't need one

they are way overpriced. find a cheap base model p226 (I personally don't like the mk5 the phosphate coated internalsmakes everything feel gritty, I'm not rolling around sea water so it's useless for me)

with the base model get the Graygun SRT, Graygun hammer strut, Graygun ELS trigger system (I got both nickel and black nitron to see if there is a difference, there is not), graygun p series modern hammer (this one is optional)

you get all those parts and you got a top notch p226. total cost is roughly 350? but if you look on the second hand, I'm sure you can get them cheaper.

It's a 1911 with a 8lb trigger *and* a manual safety, so depending on whether it's Built For Heroes or not it may not be drop-safe, but it shouldn't go off on its own like a jury of Sig's peers determined that 320s sometimes do.

The HKs that have those numbers behind them are the ones with dual recoil springs, maybe that has something to do with it. It's not like they're alone though, there are 92s with 100,000 rounds on them and I'm sure Glocks too though I have not heard of one

Personally I think it's just luck of design. It's one of the earliest plastic pistol designs, they never put in the time to shoot 100,000 rounds, look for failures, iterate, and repeat until it was able to do 200,000 etc. It was just a cosmic coincidence the first time out, just like Glock. I don't think you can intentionally design a pistol to be that long lasting, just like you can't design a pistol to have less recoil, it just happens.

No, they fixed the issue where touching the back of the slide hard enough would make it go off, but they recently lost a suit involving a cop whose 320 spontaneously discharged in its holster, so the platform is still fucked
