The steel rail, which I believe is the one in your picture, is easy to swap out. I'm not sure if it matters if you have the SL8-4 or 5. From what I've read you can pretty much convert it into a G36 with a $1000 dollar investment. on top of the 2k purchase price. Making it 3k for essentially a G36, which normally would cost you 6-10k. I think the top rail is more aesthetically unpleasing than the thumb stock, so that's where I would start.
